Stupid Odin

#170 - Violent mediation

On the eastern island, the internal war between the Knights of Fianna and the King's army continued.

In fact, the root of all this lies in the fact that the Knights of Fianna are nominally the guardians of this Irish kingdom, but the oath of allegiance is to the leader of the Knights of Fianna rather than the King himself. They protect the King, but are not part of the Royal Army.

This chaotic system was inherently unreasonable from the start, and this is the fuse that ignited this civil war.

Because it was not handled well in the beginning, as time passed, a rift gradually appeared between Fionn, the leader of the Knights of Fianna, and King Cormac mac Airt. When Princess Gráinne's marriage alliance with Fionn failed, and the strength of Fianna became stronger and stronger, the King naturally believed that this force had become a huge threat to the throne.

This is the fuse of the civil war!

To be honest, the battle between the two sides is actually a mess.

From the root, this is a typical power struggle.

King Cormac was wise and intelligent. During his reign, the country was prosperous. His prestige even filled the Tuatha Dé Danann with respect. The Tuatha Dé Danann invited him to visit the 'Otherworld' and gave him many magical gifts, including the golden apple that could cure all diseases.

The Knights of Fianna, on the other hand, had stronger individual combat power.

To enter the Knights of Fianna, one often had to pass strict selection, some requirements are as follows:

1. They must be able to jump over a tree trunk as tall as a person, quickly crawl under a tree trunk as high as the knee, and remove a thorn from their foot with one fingertip - all of which must be done while running fast.

2. First dig a hole in the ground as deep as the waist, and then stand in it. Nine warriors use nine spears to shoot at him from a distance of ten plow widths. Those who are injured cannot join Fianna.

3. Braid the hair into braids and let the Fianna warriors chase and run through the forest, without stepping on the dead branches in the forest, without being caught up, without the braids being messy, and without the hand holding the weapon trembling.

4. Be well-versed in the twelve books of poetry and be able to create and recite rhyming poems on their own. They must not take dowry from their wives, and must not bully the weak and women.

In the past, it would have been very difficult to quell this messy civil war.

The King has the King's power, and the Knights also have their own righteousness.

For Downs, as an outsider, it is very simple to deal with all this.

The only object he can favor is the Knights of Fianna.

Why?

Because King Cormac's kingship is endorsed by the Tuatha Dé Danann!

To completely control the Celtic world, Downs must either actively or passively erase the mark of the Tuatha Dé Danann.

On the Yate Plain of this Eastern Kingdom, a huge number of King's troops are besieging the Knights of Fianna. They form several exaggerated phalanxes and attack the knights. Nearly a thousand knights are lined up in a long line, like a huge nail rake, fiercely piercing into the King's army's battle line.

When the knights collided with these soldiers, the extreme impact force sent the front row of spearmen flying out.

The idea that five spearmen can defeat a well-trained swordsman is based on the premise that both sides are within the scope of human strength.

These Knights of Fianna, who can fight giants, are already extraordinary.

They can block several spears with a single spear in a flash of lightning, and use skillful techniques to assassinate multiple infantrymen in an instant before entering close combat.

Many knights even pierced several people on their own spears, like threading gourds, before having to throw away their spears and switch to drawing their greatswords to continue slashing the enemy.

The knights, like nail rakes plowing the ground, first broke through the enemy's battle line, and then, instead of breaking through from the center, rushed to the flanks of the battlefield, broke out of the enemy's formation, quickly regrouped with their comrades into a new wedge formation, and then attacked the enemy's battle line from the flanks.

The King's army did not collapse immediately, relying on the large number of longbowmen, who posed enough of a threat to the knights with their sharp and slender heavy arrows.

The Knights of Fianna were brave and unstoppable, but unfortunately there were too few of them. As long as enough consumption was generated against them, the King's army could eventually turn defeat into victory and win this battle with its numerical advantage.

King Cormac's idea was very good. The only thing he didn't expect was that a foreign force would intrude.

Just as the two sides were fighting fiercely, a huge pillar of light suddenly swayed through the clouds in the sky.

That was not some space magic array constructed by a magician with magic lines.

This colorful rainbow light pillar represents the Celtic world's recognition and permission.

The brilliant rainbow light pierced through the clouds and descended from the sky, its radiance attracting the attention of all the warriors on the battlefield.

In the light, silver pegasus horses quickly flew down. A few Valkyries wearing streamlined silver armor and winged helmets waved shining long blades and announced in a earth-shattering voice:

"We convey the will of the Celtic world - both sides immediately lay down their weapons, shake hands and make peace, and participate in the holy war against Odin, the King of Chaos Giants!"

Lay down your weapons?

Shake hands and make peace?

Are you kidding me?

This is no longer a question of trust or not. When the seeds of suspicion take root and sprout and are put into weapons, there is no turning back.

King Cormac and Commander Fionn can no longer trust each other. They don't need a monarch or subordinates who will stab them in the back at any time!

What's more, the Prince sent someone to assassinate Fionn first.

Cormac cursed: "Damn it! Who do you think you are? Can you represent the will of the world?"

Without revealing her identity, the Valkyrie hovering in the sky riding a Pegasus was very straightforward. Following Downs's instructions, under the guidance of Downs's divine thoughts, she suddenly activated dive mode.

Everything happened so suddenly that King Cormac and his guards were caught off guard.

Although there were many royal guards surrounding the King, that was in terms of plane.

For the Valkyries, as an air force, there was nothing between them and the target!

It was not that there were no magicians who bombarded with lightning and other magic, trying to intercept the Valkyries.

However, the Valkyries did not need to dodge at all. The powerful divine power surrounding them easily neutralized the elemental attacks of these mortal mages.

A day ago, this would have been unbelievable.

The foreign divine power was destined to be interfered with and even resisted by the world's laws. It would be good if only 30% of its power could be exerted.

But now, the Valkyries came with 100% full-state, undamaged divine power armor.

They directly ignored all interceptions.

It was a collective dive as fast as lightning.

Most of the Connaught King's army soldiers had not yet understood what was happening when they saw in horror that their own King Cormac, as well as several princes, including Crown Prince Cabry, were all stabbed by the Valkyries' lances.

Their bodies, which had not completely lost their lives, were twitching and screaming.

Several Valkyries even deliberately slowed down the flight speed of the Pegasus so that the King's army soldiers below could see clearly.
