Stupid Odin

#167 - Demonstrate wisdom

Teaching the world how to do things will never work.

It's like ants raised in a plastic box in a human's home running out to tell humans how to get rid of cockroaches. It's just unreasonable.

Most of the time, the world's will is hard-pressed to distinguish between ants and cockroaches.

When the Celtic world's will realized it was being brutally beaten by Chaos and had no means to counter, it truly panicked.

Thus, Downs hummed a tune while watching a performance in his palace, listening to the two world wills bickering in what was 'arguing in name, but negotiating in reality'.

Downs hadn't communicated much with the Jötunheimr world's will before, as he wasn't sure if there were any secret relationships between these twin worlds that he didn't know about.

He was, after all, a Cuckoo occupying the Dove's Nest as a God-King. Even though he was deeply bound to the Jötunheimr world, he didn't need to offend his own world's will.

Now, things were good. He played the heavy, while the Jötunheimr world's will came out to play the peacemaker.

Regardless of whether his own world was sincerely supporting him, this performance was fantastic!

Downs figured that if he were even more ruthless, he could wait until Odin had destroyed the Celtic world before going to recover the remnants. It wasn't impossible.

After all, the Celtic world was smaller than Jötunheimr. Even if the entire world was corrupted by Chaos, Downs was confident he could suppress it, though the cost would be greater.

Moreover, Downs wouldn't let the situation deteriorate to that point before taking action.

As for now…

It was simply a matter of Jötunheimr wanting to grow bigger, and the Celtic world wanting to shrink.

As for how they negotiated, that was none of Downs' concern.

He just needed to play the role of the 'miracle-working doctor'.

Interestingly, it was Downs who let Odin's remnant soul go, but in order to regain his strength, Odin didn't hesitate to throw himself into Chaos, mixing his soul to the point that even his mother, Bestla, wouldn't recognize him. As a result, the foolish Celtic world didn't notice Downs' trickery. It was blaming itself for being unable to control the spread of Chaos.

In a sense, Downs was the bastard who first spread the plague and then ran to sell the antidote!

Downs had no psychological burden about this. Even if he did nothing, the foolish Celtic world would still be brutally beaten by the power of Chaos, and the islands would be filled with war and Chaos.

"I facilitated the rapid recovery of the Celtic world, it should thank me for it." Shaking the wine glass in his hand, watching the scarlet wine swirling in the golden cup without a drop spilling, Downs was satisfied with his control.

Half a day passed, and the two world wills finally finished arguing.

The Jötunheimr world's will spoke first: 【Downs! We have reached an agreement. I hope you can help the Celtic world clear most of the Chaos power within it.】

The Celtic world's voice was full of exhaustion and loss: 【In exchange, I will recognize you as the common God-King of our two worlds, and reshape the world according to your will, even merging the two worlds together.】

"Oh? This is really… incredible." Downs was a little surprised.

This wasn't just losing his pants, it was putting himself on the line.

The Celtic world was truly decisive.

The Celtic world continued: 【Before that, I need some proof.】

"Proof of what?"

【Proof that you have the ability to change this situation with wisdom alone.】

"Wisdom?" A mysterious smile appeared on Downs' lips. As expected, the way of thinking of world wills is different from that of humans. World wills can bestow power upon heroes, even giving them the power to challenge gods, but they can hardly directly interfere with people's hearts.

Downs was different. He could forcefully level the Celtic world, or he could manage with a scheme.

Downs smiled: "Alright."

The Celtic world could still be saved, provided the situation didn't continue to deteriorate, such as by allowing the mortals on the remaining three large islands to quickly form a unified front.

Reconciliation was impossible!

Each leader had their own selfish motives.

If the Aesir gods were not allowed to directly intervene, Downs had quite a few pawns he could use.

For example, Beowulf and Siegfried, who had infiltrated the Tuatha Dé Danann and survived several major battles.

Under normal circumstances, they would have followed Nuada and Lugh into battle, serving as the Tuatha Dé Danann's full-time divine servants. With their strength, it would have been difficult to survive.

But they had a pair of heavenly eyes above their heads, guiding them at all times, arranging their attack and retreat routes. This allowed them to not only gain many achievements on the battlefield—they had even killed two-digit numbers of giants, with so many heads that they couldn't carry them all. They could only keep one head and cut off the ears of the remaining giants as war merits.

Moreover, they had successfully gained the trust of those scattered Tuatha Dé Danann.

They had gathered dozens of divine servants defeated by the giant forces and led them to rescue the trapped [Goddess of Fertility, Wisdom, and Wind] Danu, the [Goddess of War] Morrigan, and [God of Love and Youth] Angus, famous for his magic.

Their bravery and 'loyalty' moved the three gods, who had exhausted their divine and magical powers, to tears.

The three gods were seriously injured, unable to move easily, and their accompanying gods and divine servants were almost completely lost, so they had to rely on these two tough guys.

Under Downs' guidance, the two of them led the three gods, 'luckily', to find a fishing boat that could set sail, and smuggled them to the vicinity of the battlefield near the Kingdom of Ulster.

There, Cú Chulainn and Queen Medb's fierce battle had been going on for three days and three nights, and neither could defeat the other.

In terms of individual strength, Cú Chulainn was definitely superior. But Queen Medb's divine chariot was shameless!

After being infused with the power of the world's will, this steel chariot had become a monster that could fly high in the sky at high speed, coming and going like the wind, and also integrated offense and defense. As long as Medb was on the chariot, Cú Chulainn could do nothing to her.

After three days of fierce fighting, both sides were exhausted.

They could only declare a truce and agree to fight again in three days.

Thus, after the end of the battle on the third day, Queen Medb came to a waterfall pool.

"Damn it! Can't that beast Cú Chulainn just surrender obediently or just die? Damn, damn, damn!" Queen Medb, famous for her beauty, couldn't accept the fact that she hadn't taken a bath for three days if she wasn't on the battlefield.

After the guards checked the waterfall, Medb finally couldn't help but happily run to the pool, planning to swim to her heart's content.

This would have been a pleasant rest.

Who knew, a tough guy would float up from the bottom of the pool.

"Who are you!?" Queen Medb, who had just started undressing, was stunned, and couldn't help but scream.

"Queen Medb, we are divine servants from the Tuatha Dé Danann, and now formally hope that you will join the war against Chaos and overthrow the Chaos Giant King Odin!" Beowulf said solemnly.

"Shut up! I don't care about any Tuatha Dé Danann. Your war is none of my business! But now, you will pay the price of your lives for offending me—" Queen Medb saw her guards arriving and felt even more confident.
