There are two recognized translations of "Gone with the Wind" in China. One is the translation of Mr. Fu Donghua. The meeting clearly pointed out that the original work needs to be re-translated, and listed several shortcomings of Mr. Fu Donghua's translation version that are generally recognized in the translation field.

The translation method used in Mr. Fu Donghua’s translation version was widely used in the late Qing Dynasty and even the Republic of China, in order to increase the audience in China.In fact, it can no longer meet the needs of readers in New China, especially mainland China after the reform and opening up.

Second, a translated work should maintain the integrity of the original work, which is a responsible attitude towards the author and readers.However, in Mr. Fu Donghua's translation version, large sections of the original work were randomly deleted many times.For example, at the end of Chapter 41, about 35 words were deleted, in Chapter 55, more than 100 words were deleted, and in Chapter [-], nearly [-] words were deleted.As for the deletion of small paragraphs and individual sentences, it can be seen everywhere. According to statistics, in Fu's translation, the number of slightly deleted parts of the original work is as high as tens of thousands.The original work is only more than [-] million words in total.Moreover, in Fu's translation, some modifiers, such as adjectives and adverbs, are often omitted and not translated.

At the same time, in Fu's translation, while deleting the text, he also used the practice of stringing together the original text from time to time.

Third, there are a lot of mistranslations in Fu's translation.

In short, I don’t know whether it’s because of the difference in thought between the East and the West, or to allow more Chinese readers to accept the book, or because of other reasons, Fu’s translation has been modified in many places, making the translation and the original work different in countless details. There is a phenomenon that is quite different or even deviates from the original intention.

This was also the consensus reached by experts in the translation field at the Changsha National Literary Translation Conference in 1988.

The complete translation of the original work in my hand was borrowed from an old lady who is just 60 years old this year.It is also the earliest translation of Huang Huairen and Zhu Youruo that I can find.
