Pirates of the Caribbean Princess Bella
Chapter 15
That afternoon, Lizzy and Will moved into a small house near the mansion. My father and I went to make sure everything was in order and then left, leaving them and the two servants behind. My father was still reluctant to part with me, and on the way back, he would discuss with me on which day to take the new couple back for a few days.
Sitting in the living room, my father and I were relatively silent, and the servants were silent.
I'm not good at talking, and my father wipes his eyes whenever he sees Lizzy's old seat.James was away and went upstairs after supper.
After a long time, my father sighed and said, "Okay, go to sleep."
I hugged my father: "Dad, Lizzy promised to come and see us tomorrow morning, don't be sad."
The father smiled bitterly and said, "How can that be? Although I don't like William very much, he does love Lizzy. We should be happy for them. Go to sleep, and we will continue to inquire about Beckett tomorrow."
None of us told the newlyweds what Beckett was up to.
Things were bad in London.
According to Anna's reply to me, Her Majesty the Queen is getting weaker and weaker, and her authority is also being delegated; while Prince George has now mastered the power of the court, and Beckett has been made a lord and is very popular.Mrs. Alby's family and Colonel Lyttington have not been affected for the time being, but the colonel's promotion has stopped.
I went upstairs and paused for a moment outside James' door.
There was no sound at all.
I haven't seen him since dinner, so he probably left.I have told Nolan that Mr. Norrington is free to come and go; he has seen a festive play today, and I do not know why he is uncomfortable.
I stood at his door for a long time, and finally made up my mind to knock on the door.
To my surprise, he quickly opened the door.
"Have you rested yet?" I asked.
"No, I plan to leave tomorrow," he pointed to the two simple bundles on the ground, "I'll leave early tomorrow morning, maybe it's too late to say goodbye."
I just feel pain in my heart.
For a long time, I thought that James was just a friend of our family. It wasn't until he said that he was leaving tomorrow that I realized that he meant far more to me than I expected.
But what can I do?
Stop him, keep him from going, and let Cutler Beckett get us all? It's not good for him or us if he stays here.
He stood there, smiling.
I opened his bundle, and examined everything: some coarse clothes and socks, some black bread, a water-jug, a towel and three cloth belts, a roll of rope, and a few shillings.
His sword has been turned in, and it is now in my hands.
Therefore, he wears a very rough and inferior sword at his waist.
I looked at it, then went back upstairs silently, and took the things down.I handed him the saber that he had returned to his father, but he refused to take it: "This is my past glory, and I cannot tarnish it. Miss, please keep it."
"Even so, I can't let you take this sword on the road," I replied. "I'll get one from Will, and this one won't work."
James nodded, without saying anything, he packed the bag again and put it by the door.I took out a wallet from my side and handed it to him; before he looked at it, he shook his head and refused to accept it.
"Everything needs money to go out," I sighed. "It's not much, it's only three pounds. You just keep it, or you won't be allowed to go."
James hesitated, then took the wallet.
I put away his saber, and sent James to the smithy for the best sword I had.
It's getting late.
I looked into his eyes and clasped my hands.
I wished him a good rest and a good night's sleep, and then went downstairs to the drawing-room, had a cloak brought me, and lit the drawing-room fire again.
I must know when he is gone.
So as not to even see him for the last time.
The moonlight moved westward, and I didn't feel sleepy at all.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already morning.
My father sat next to me, his eyes half pitiful and half loving. He patted my hair lightly and said softly, "Bella, are you awake? Been asleep for a long time."
I was in a trance for a moment, thinking of my purpose: "Where's James?"
A complex look flashed across the father's face: "Going away. I don't know when, I came down to see you were here, and I went up to look for it, but there was no one there. His saber is still there."
I lowered my head, feeling that my eyes were sore, probably because I didn't get enough sleep.
My father still patted me on the back again and again, just like my mother's caress when I was young. The sun is shining outside the window, the grass is green, and the waves are bursting.
A pair of Bi people outside the window are laughing and talking.
