Chapter 4 Blue Forest

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded, and they were sent as an advance team to investigate the situation in the radiation zone.

He felt dizzy when he first entered the forest, but the helicopter had already left, and they were far away from the temporary base. Sam could only bite the bullet and move forward.

There was a lot of fog and the air was clammy and cold. Some teammates said that it might rain tomorrow, and it would be even more difficult to move forward at that time. Fortunately, we can go back after the mission is over today.

Alan was at the forefront, his usual wayfinding style. While reporting the situation, he reminded the team members.

Sam walked and became the last one in the line.He looked at the back of the person in front, and he could only pretend to be calm and follow along step by step.

After forgetting how long he had been walking, he heard someone talking.Because of shortness of breath, he could only hear half a sentence.

until a shot was fired. He raised his drooping head and smelled blood.

"...More than one! Gather together!" He heard Alan's voice.

He drew his gun, but found that his arm was shaking.I really want to die, but at this time...

Sam frowned and struggled to see what was in front of him.It was discovered that Alan, who was on the side, had blocked in front of him at some point.

"The fog is too thick, follow me closely." The person in front said in a very small voice.

Sam wanted to laugh, this was probably the first time the guy had "differentiated".But he, who was covered in cold sweat and short of breath, couldn't laugh.

He said "hmm", but it took 10 minutes.Amidst the smell of blood and screams, he found that he could no longer follow Alan.

"You go... Alan! Leave us alone... If the support team gets over quickly, we will already be torn apart by these monsters..." Sam clutched the wound under his torn isolation suit.If this continues, no one will survive Chernobyl!

If he gave up his teammates who couldn't survive at all, Sam knew that with Alan's skill and marksmanship, there might be a chance of survival.

Unexpectedly, Alan pushed his hand away to cover the wound by himself, and still said angrily, "I didn't intend to...don't care..."

Sam, who couldn't breathe, almost died...

After a while, they ran to the dry grass to find a good place to shoot, and Alan said again, "I know... these things... I can't deal with them alone..."

"I know...that's why I said that." Sam

He grasped the tear on Alan's clothes, always afraid that he might turn into these horrible things if he had a little more radiation.

"I know very well...if this goes on...I might die too..." Alan fired a shot at the giant rat that was walking toward them looking for a scent. Under his hand, Sam could feel his injured arm jerk slightly from the shooting. But the person concerned didn't care about it. Instead, he smiled at him sideways and continued, "But if you have the opportunity to wait for the support team... why not give it a try..."

Alan's words made his head explode instantly. He froze for a few seconds before realizing that Alan had drawn out his saber and was standing not far from the giant rat!

Looking at the feet, there are discarded empty magazines.

"Alan..." he wanted to shout, but couldn't.I can only watch helplessly as the fog envelops the

Mottled shadows.

"Without bullets, it's...damn it! Don't hold on! Alan..." Sam stood up with support...

When he managed to find the bullet on his dead teammate and found him in the fog, he saw Alan draw the final knife from the giant rat's body.Bright red blood splashed on his face, as if cutting through the only color of the thick fog.

"Alan—" he yelled, throwing the clip over with all his might.

The person squatting on the ground looked up at him, suddenly opened his eyes wide, and shouted in panic, "Sam!!! Behind!"

later? He didn't have time to react, and when he turned around, something was deeply embedded in his flesh, throwing him to the ground!

"Sam! Sam!!!" Alan screamed his name.

"Boom!" There was another gunshot. The hairy thing that Sam was holding tightly to with both hands suddenly lost his strength. But at the same time, he also felt that he lost his strength, and his hands fell heavily to the ground.

"Sam..." The voice approached with panicked footsteps. Finally, the blame and vigor of the past were gone.

"Alan, when I came in... there was already a problem... I couldn't hold it anymore."

It's a pity that the person kneeling beside him didn't listen to the same thing, and he simply treated the wound for him. After carefully checking Sam's mask, he took off his own mask and put it on Sam's head.Without raising his head, he said, "Your mask is broken, it's just a reaction caused by radiation."

But the wound was too big and too deep, the bleeding had stopped a bit, but Sam's face was already as white as paper.

"Alan...you go..." He knew the current situation, from which direction those mutated giant rats might appear at any time.

Alan ignored him.He directly took off his isolation suit, and took out a black handkerchief from his pocket to wrap it around his face. Then he pressed his hand tightly to the edge of his covered wound.

"Does it hurt?" Maybe there was something on his face, Alan's voice sounded muffled. The veil was given to him by Sam for Christmas.

Sam wanted to laugh at him, but his vision had started to blur, and he could only see a cloud of color in front of him.But he still struggled to answer, "No...it doesn't hurt."

"..." Alan didn't speak, and lowered his head.

tick, tick...

A few drops of warm clear liquid hit Sam's face shield, and he felt the man tremble, even his shoulders.

He cried?

Sam tried to open his eyes, and saw the only beautiful blue eyes that were showing, and kept crying.

"It's me...not good..." Alan said, "I swear to God, I will protect you...Sam, hold on...it won't hurt when you go back..." Then he reached out and stroked Sam's soft hair.

Sam wanted him to stop crying, but he didn't have the strength to speak.Because maybe there was a big hole in his chest, and when he saw his tearful eyes, his heart ached.

"Squeak... squeak..." Alan heard the voice not far away, looked at Sam who couldn't dodge the attack on the ground, so he took the gun, wiped the blood off the dagger, and stood up.

At that time, he thought that his Alan would come back with military merits like before, and then sneaked to the training ground to supervise his training after getting off the helicopter. But that forest was like the sea, swallowing all their tears.

"Please answer if you hear it, please answer if you hear it. The rescue team is about to arrive, please don't turn off the radio..." When the voice came from the communicator in the mask, Sam couldn't tell who was speaking.

He said softly, "Don't...cry...Alan..." Finally, he closed his eyes.

"Report, there are still surviving team members on the ground! Prepare to land, prepare to land."

……

The person leaning on the tree trunk felt a little cold, and it took a long time to realize that blood was oozing from his shoulder.

"Why don't you give it a try? Hehe..." He finally understood why he survived but that person couldn't.

"Obviously...that's..." Looking at the half of the photo in his hand, Sam couldn't bear such memories anymore, he took a deep breath and started to cry.

"You idiot... how could you forget him!" The sobbing turned from suppressed to vented wailing. "You idiot! Bastard! Ahh... you give back my...my Alan...give it back to me!!!!"

He didn't dare to imagine such a figure surrounded by giant rats, standing in the middle covered in blood, he had run out of bullets, and only held a dagger.Just when he was exhausted and unable to support his body, the helicopter with familiar symbols left the forest.

He was alone.

It is also possible that he lasted until the next day.As expected, it rained heavily in the forest...

Thinking of this, Sam almost collapsed.

"Zhiza...zhiza..." The voice appeared again.

But he didn't want to hide at all.

"Squeak... squeak..."

He felt something approaching, so he just grabbed the photo and closed his eyes.

"Squeak... squeak..."

Getting closer.

"Boom!!!" The giant mouse that jumped up fell heavily to the ground after a gunshot.

Startled, Sam heard footsteps approaching over puddles. He opened his eyes and saw a pair of boots in front of him.

The man bent down, and a deep voice came from Sam's ear, "I had a dream last night."

Sam didn't dare to look up, the sobs that had just subsided began to flood again.

The man went on to say, "I dreamed that you said it hurt, and I felt sad, so I woke up..."

"You..." Sam should have guessed that the face towel looked exactly like the handkerchief he had given Alan before. And that torn white paper... He couldn't imagine how he held this half of the photo so tightly on that rainy day... so that it lost all its colors.

The man looked down and saw the photo in Sam's hand, "As I said, this is for finding a wife... Now I can finally give it to you." So he handed over the damaged white photo with one hand.

Sam finally looked up.The face facing him was surrounded by a black scarf, with only a pair of eyes exposed.

Blue, like the sea.
