Chapter 18 18

You are crazy.

Voldemort stood at the window, twirling the ring on his ring finger.Time seemed to go back to the day Alice returned to England, to the time when he "proposed" to her at the dinner table. That was the first time he saw Alice being so rude. She was dumbfounded, and sat across from him in a daze, without responding for a long time.In the end, Alice's response he waited for was, you are crazy.

In fact, they don't need this relationship. They have been together from the beginning and will be bound together in the future. There is actually no need for such a thing as marriage, especially when he knows what his mother has done, he hates this kind of thing even more, even hates it.

But why he still asked Alice like this, he didn't understand. But when he had the idea in his mind, he took it for granted to put it into practice.

"I said, let's get married, Alice."

He hated repetition, but he took the trouble to say it again. He always has incredible patience and tolerance in front of Alice. There must be something wrong, maybe Alice is right, he is crazy.

"...I know what you're talking about, Voldy, why would you have such a thought...I mean, there's no warning, I've never thought of such a thing. It seems...it seems...I didn't I can't describe it. It's not like something you'd bring up. I'm a little confused, sorry."

"It's okay, Alice. You think about it carefully. After running around for so long, go and rest now."

There was a faint smile on the corner of his mouth, and he sent her back to the room himself. For the next few days, he never mentioned the matter again. He knew Alice would always ask.

Finally Alice asked. She asked Voldemort if he was serious about raising this question, but it was nonsense, every word he uttered was serious, and every word he said he would put into practice and fulfill his promise.

Except for one sentence.

So Alice agreed. They are registered with the Ministry of Magic.Alice showed no joy, or doubt, or any other emotion.Perhaps in her heart, marriage is not important.Or maybe it was because she wouldn't marry anyone but him.Of course they will always be together.

"Because I never thought about it."

After they walked out of the Ministry of Magic, Alice explained: "I never thought I would live to that time. I also didn't think you would mention this to me."

Alice's time is now.She has no future, she can't see the future, and she doesn't think about the future. But she should have a future. She should accompany him into the future. He must have her in his future.must have.

So Voldemort bent down and whispered in her ear, "I will cure you, Alice."

Voldemort made a lot of promises. Most of his promises are for profit. He promised his men a whole new world.Promise dark creatures a world where they are not repelled. He made promises to many people, and he has continued to deliver on them. The promises of these insignificant people were later fulfilled by him one by one.

Except for one.

Alice was the only special person in his life, and that was the only promise he made to her.But he didn't deliver in the end.Only this one, he didn't deliver.

He can't do it.He can't cure her. This is Merlin's gift to the Hellman family, and it is also a curse. No one can understand.Alice has spent too much life for this magic, and there is no room for saving.

The top therapist he hired told him Alice wouldn't survive this spring. This was impossible, and in a fit of rage he killed the healer. His promise had to be kept, and she had to survive.

"At least survive this spring."

He drove away his men, muttering to himself. At least live through this spring, live through her birthday.he thought. That spring she was marked as a monster because of a wreath, and they met since then.He still remembers clearly. On the day she moved to his room, her eyes were red and swollen, as if she had been crying all night. She had been one of the most popular children at the orphanage, she was so popular that even Voldemort had to pay attention to her.At that time, she smiled like the sun without clouds, she was so dazzling.

Voldemort dared not say that he hadn't been jealous of her.

When he saw her reduced to his own kind, he felt happy from the bottom of his heart. This child who was loved by everyone eventually became a monster feared by everyone.

But that's all in the past. Voldemort rarely thought about the past.He didn't like his bad past, he hated the orphanage, hated the way he was treated, hated Dumbledore who burned his prize. He hadn't thought of this for a long time.

Voldemort walked into Alice's room. She sat on the bed, fiddling with the irises beside the bed.She likes this flower with the same name as her own.Her long hair has gone from blonde to pale now. There is no longer light in her eyes, but the expectation of death. Her skin was sickly colored, and her thin frame made her veins visible.

"Do you remember what you said when you stopped me from making a Horcrux, Alice?"

"I remember."

Alice had told him many times about the dangers of Horcruxes.Tears the soul, damages the body, loses mind and emotion, ceases to be a real person. But she herself was squandering her body without cherishing it.

"I don't regret what I did," Alice turned to look at him, "and you didn't listen to me, did you?"

Voldemort sat on the edge of the bed, leaning over to kiss her.Of course he wouldn't listen. At the moment he killed his father that summer vacation, he made his first Horcrux with a ring from the Gaunt family. And the ring was on Alice's hand right now. They are together.

"I'm thinking of making you a Horcrux, Alice. If your body is so painless."

"...Please, Voldy"

Alice closed her eyes tiredly. He has made this suggestion more than once, and of course it has always been rejected. He made the Horcrux in order to obtain eternal life, but Alice was just the opposite. She wanted to die.

"Dumbledore once told me that love is the power that conquers all. If what he said is true, why are you like this now, Alice?"

"Because there are things scarier than love."

Alice stared into Voldemort's dark eyes. From those emotionless pupils, she saw her frail body: "You still can't understand emotion, Voldy."

"If you saw what they did to my parents, you'd know why I risked my life to get revenge. It was one of my most painful dreams, I was trapped in the past and I couldn't escape it .Because I love them, even though my father was a Muggle, I still love them. And so my hatred is born of it, and hatred conquers all. So I take revenge no matter the cost."

"You can't understand, Voldy. You can't understand this. And now that my revenge is over, my body is already overwhelmed."

"So let me go, Tom."

How could it be possible to let her go. Voldemort pinched Alice's wrist violently, and he watched her frown in pain.A furious scarlet flashed in his eyes: "Don't forget who you are, Alice. I was the first to accept you and teach you everything. I tolerated everything about you. Your life is in exchange for these Don’t always think about dying to get rid of these.”

Voldemort pushed Alice away, and she hit the head of the bed, spitting out a mouthful of blood. She wiped it in embarrassment, but the blood didn't stop. She kept coughing and felt dizzy for a while. However Voldemort just stood aside, looking at her indifferently.

"Remember who you are, Alice."

"I'm nobody's thing, I'm Alice Hellmann. I'm free, I can go wherever I want. Now I can still go back to Germany and meet my real family, you can't trap me Yes, Tom."

Frowning, Voldemort withdrew his wand and put it back after a few seconds. He tried his best to restrain his manic heart, calm down, Voldemort, don't cast a spell on her. With that in mind, he turned and walked towards the door.

"Voldy."

Holding her last breath, Alice stopped him.He stopped, but didn't turn back to look at her.Alice was panting, and it took a long time to regain her strength to speak.

"I know it's you who's been with me. I know I owe you a lot. I've been blinded by the past, the dead, and I've forgotten that the living love me. I know, I know. I know I shouldn't have done this, I shouldn't have wasted my life like this. The Hellmans may be such a family, our destiny is destined to be like this. We probe the past, we are people who live in the past, we cannot have a future."

"I can't make it up to you, and I'm really sorry. But I beg you, Voldy, just let me go. Please forget about me."

He heard Alice sobbing. But he went anyway. He didn't want Alice to keep apologizing, he wanted the healthy and proud Alice in the past.He wants to cure her, and then discuss the future and his own ambitions together as in the past.

Voldemort didn't believe in such things as "destiny" or "destiny".He is a person who plans the future for himself, and he will never allow Alice to believe this.

He will heal her.

He is now a professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts. The conditions he put forward to Dumbledore made the old man have to bow his head. He had plenty of people in the Ministry of Magic. He already has most of the power in Britain. He has long been known in Europe. It is of course easy to cure a person.

It must be so.

He summoned his men and continued the plan of the previous days.In the end he ordered them to find the best healer, even though he had mercilessly thrown Avada Kedavra at the previous one.

He was so sure that Alice would be fine. But in the end, the last thing Alice left him was that quarrel, her weak appearance and her final apology. And that begging to forget her.

She slept forever in the dream of the past.
