HP Midnight Light
Chapter 2 2
Many years after the end of the Second War against Tom Riddle, British wizarding scholars decided to rewrite a book on the history of magic about the battle. After several meetings, it was finally agreed that Bathilda Bagshot The History of Magic Research Center has led a writing task force.
Erica Wood of the research center was designated as the head of the team.In addition to her convincing academic background, her father Oliver Wood's war hero status also helped her stand out among a group of senior researchers and win the title.
This isn't the first book ever written about World War II, so Erica has to give it her all to make it stand out and live up to the hype.Unexpectedly, Erica encountered a bottleneck on the first day of preparation.
HRW
Erica's fingers stroked the yellowed and brittle parchment, and this strange name appeared in her sight alone.
This is very unusual.
The list of World War II heroes in her hand is currently the most recognized in the magic world, and almost all books or research related to World War II use it as a reference.Everyone on this list should have briefly indicated their birth and death years and main achievements in the remarks column, but HRW's name is followed by a blank.
This is clearly a serious oversight!
As a rigorous researcher, Erica immediately consulted the other two authoritative materials at hand, but was surprised to find that the name "HRW" neither appeared in the list of victims nor in the memoirs of the survivors.Based on her knowledge of the history of magic, this means that it is even less likely that the name of this mysterious person will appear in other books related to World War II.Erica couldn't believe it. She froze for a moment, then quickly grabbed a quill and wrote to the largest library in the wizarding world: the Wes Madison Library.Request their assistance in investigating HRW's identity. At the same time, she asked her assistant to start consulting the data in the research center to find HRW's real name.
However, the assistant came back shortly after, and she told Erica that not only was this mysterious HRW not mentioned in other materials, but even the number of people who participated in World War II was one less than the original list.
Needless to say, someone deliberately wanted to erase HRW from history.
With such a premise, Erica didn't have much hope for this newspaper, but within a few days, she received a reply from the Wes Madison Library.
"Dear Researcher Wood:
After checking, in the materials collected by this library, there are several people whose names can be abbreviated as 'HRW', and the person with the highest degree of coincidence is Hyacinth Lord White. She married in 1980 and took the post-nuptial name 'Hyase Wright Parkinson'. Unfortunately, Mrs. Parkinson passed away in the summer of 1998 for unknown reasons.
Attached is publicly available information relating to Ms. Hyacins White Parkinson.
Contents include: Brief History of the White Family, Brief History of the Parkinson Family
Due to the particularity and necessity, the library currently only opens these two materials to the public and general researchers. If you need further information, you must provide proof of permission (with the signature of the head of the department and sub-agencies) from the Office of Confidentiality of Records under the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely: Tasha Gower
Wes Madison Library
Intermediate data keeper"
After reading the first paragraph of the letter, Erica had secretly concluded that Mrs. Parkinson was the HRW she was looking for, but the phrase "the reason is unknown" in the letter aroused her greater curiosity. The materials provided by the library were very brief, and Erica didn't find much helpful information after reading it.
The era when pure-blood families dominated the wizarding world is long gone.So what caused Mrs. Parkinson's name to disappear in file after file until it was hard to find?Even the only piece of information euphemistically uses her unknown original name as her address.
After thinking for a while, Erica wrote a letter to Hermione Granger, Director of the Department of Legal Enforcement. She briefly described her current bottleneck and asked Ms. Granger for additional help.In addition, Erica also cleverly applied for access to the official information on Mrs. Parkinson in the Ministry of Magic.

A few days later, Erica knocked on the door of the office of the head of the research center, Mr. Spencer Barnold.
"Mr. Barnold," she said, "I hope you will allow me to resign from my current position as head of the project writing team."
"Miss Wood?" Her superior raised an eyebrow in surprise.
Erica stepped forward and put a photo and a list on his desk: "Someone sent this photo to the front desk of the research center yesterday morning. The person in the photo is called Hyacinth White, and she Better known as Mrs. Parkinson. She died in the summer of 1998. After my extensive investigation, she is the mysterious 'HRW' on that list. Mr. Barnold, I know this is presumptuous, but I think Please allow me to write a biography of her."
Spencer Barnold was in no hurry to answer her.He stared at the photo for a moment, then took off his glasses and put them aside, reached out and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Miss Wood," he said, "you should understand that some people don't want her story to be made public."
"I know." Erica nodded, "But in the history of magic, there are always things that need to be rectified. For example..."
"Miss Wood," interrupted Spencer Barnold, "her husband refused to have her buried in the Heroes' Cemetery after World War II, and likewise he refused to have her name mentioned by any reference or person." And. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, he even shut himself up in the Parkinson Manor for ten years."
This is the part that is not mentioned in those materials.Erica's eyes widened.
"You should know that this story turns out to be a lot harder than you think, Miss Wood. So what you need to answer to me is—" asked Mr. Barnold, "what are you going to do with this biography?"
Erica looked down at the old photo of the girl smiling carefree. She recognized the two people standing next to her, the three of them shouldn't be in the same photo, should they?
How many untold stories have you hidden, Hyacinth? No one will know until more than ten years after your death.
"Story," Erica replied, "just a story."
