Chapter 7

When Esther was finally put back into the common room, Orion was the only one left in it.A layer of frost formed on Esther's body, and his hair was frozen into a shape flying backwards.Orion sat on the carved chair in front of the fireplace and glanced at her, then immediately picked up the book to cover his face, but his shoulders kept shaking.

"Have you laughed enough?" Esther sat opposite angrily, letting the fire in the fireplace soften her hair.

"I didn't laugh," Orion poked his head out from behind the book, trying to remain calm, "I wanted to ask you if you were hungry?"

"I'm not hungry, my stomach is frozen." Esther said irritably.

"Oh, well, I thought you would be hungry after training, and I wanted to take you to the kitchen." Orion muttered.

"You know how to get to the kitchen?" Esther said with some interest, "Not hungry but want a cup of hot cocoa. How?"

"Selwyn and the others took me there once, to the Hufflepuff lounge, and I needed to go around the foyer," Orion said.

"Forget it, you'll be discovered at such a distance. A cup of hot drink is not worth deducting the hard-won points." Esther retreated into the chair in disappointment.

"Actually..." Orion said hesitantly, "we can go wearing an invisibility cloak. My mother gave me an invisibility cloak. She knew I had a bad time in school, and it took a lot of effort to find this one." .She wouldn't let me tell anyone. But you wouldn't tell anyone, would you? Including Leona?"

Esther thought for a while and said to Orion, "If you don't want to, I won't say it."

Orion nodded and pulled out the invisibility cloak from behind. It was a cloak made of silver-gray fur, and Esther couldn't tell what kind of animal it was.Orion walked up to Esther and put the invisibility cloak on the two of them, and their bodies disappeared immediately. They huddled under the cloaks and walked slowly down the hall, around the hall and down the other side. They were lucky enough to meet no one along the way, not even Mrs. Norris, Filch's cat.

Orion led Esther to a wide stone corridor, the torches around had dimmed, but there was no trace of the coldness of Slytherin. The walls were covered with pictures full of food. Orion found a picture of a huge silver bowl full of fruit, stretched out his index finger, and gently scratched the big green pear.Pear squirmed, giggled, and suddenly turned into a big green doorknob.

Orion opened the door and walked in, Esther followed him closely.Inside is a large room very similar to the Hogwarts auditorium, with four tables also placed. The difference here is that the roof has no magic to become the sky. There were many gleaming copper pots and basins piled against the surrounding stone walls, and there was a great brick fireplace at the far end of the room.

Isn't the room empty of people, or should I say empty of creatures? When Esther came in, a hundred pairs of tennis-ball-sized eyes of different colors stared at her without blinking, making her take a step back in fright.

"They are the house elves of Hogwarts." Orion said normally. "Get some tea and hot cocoa," he ordered the elves.

Immediately, a few elves ran over from behind and held up a large silver tray with smiles on their faces, which was filled with various refreshments and two large cups of hot cocoa. They placed the tray before Orion's eyes and bowed, then stepped aside, still looking at them, as if awaiting the next order.

After drinking a cup of hot cocoa, Esther finally got used to the eyes of the house-elves and could look at them normally. They have big bat-like ears, long flat noses, small stature, and lanky limbs, and each elf wears a tea towel with the Hogwarts seal on it, which seems to be their uniform.

"Um, can't they talk?" Esther asked as politely as possible.

"Of course they will, but rarely, unless you order them," Orion explained.

"Do they obey orders? Whose orders?" Esther is always curious about things he doesn't know.

"Their master's orders. Some ancient wizarding families have house elves serving them as their servants. They will absolutely obey their master's orders and keep secrets for their masters. Hogwarts, I think they will obey the teachers and students here The order, but I guess the teacher's words will be more useful than the students." Orion spoke slowly, obviously knowing these creatures very well.

"So can any of you talk to me?" Esther said to the group of house-elves.

"Momo is at your service, dear lady." An elf with big brown eyes stepped forward and bowed.

"Hello, Momo, how long have you been here?" Esther asked.

"My dear lady, Momo has been serving Hogwarts since she was born." The elf said respectfully.

"You don't have to be so polite when you talk to them." Orion said arrogantly, "You will be laughed at if you talk to them like this."

"That's really sorry, let them laugh at it, I don't need to live in the eyes of others." Esther snapped back unconvinced. She said to Momo again, "Sorry, no offense, why have I never met you or any of the house-elves?"

Momo shook her ears excitedly, "Dear lady, the sign of a good house-elf is that people don't even know he exists."

It's sad, but no one knows it exists and is proud of it.Esther thought about it but didn't dare to show it. Compared with indifference, the denial of their beliefs might hurt them more.

"Then can I ask you to show up elsewhere in the castle?" Esther thought for a while and added, "Without being discovered by others."

"Of course, my dear lady, if you need it, I'll be at your service anytime." Momo bowed again.

"The last question, Momo, do you know of any hidden places in the castle, rooms that won't be disturbed and are suitable for magic?" Esther asked casually, not expecting much. But people who live at the bottom always have more secrets, this is Esther's experience.

"Yes, miss. There is a room on the eighth floor of the castle that is only available when needed. We call it the 'Room of Come and Go', or the 'Room of Requirement.'"

Esther and Orion looked at each other in surprise, apparently they had never heard of such a room.

After Defense Against the Dark Arts class the next day, Esther and Orion took a shortcut to the eighth floor. They wanted to verify whether Momo's words were true.If there is such a room, it can be a surprise for Leona when her class is over.

They walked and searched in the corridor, and finally found a tapestry that Momo said was a troll hitting Barnaba with a stick. They looked across, a blank wall.

"This should be it," Esther said, "You come to me?"

"You come first." Orion doesn't like being the first one every time.

Esther walked back and forth in front of the white wall three times, while thinking silently: I want a room where I can practice Defense Against the Dark Arts, and no one can disturb me.

When the third time was over, Esther heard Orion's surprised inhalation, and she knew she had succeeded.

Esther looked back to see a smooth door appearing where the wall had just been. She pulled the brass handle and opened the door. Inside was a spacious classroom with torches on the wall, some magic instruments around it, and wooden bookshelves on one wall filled with various books, and some cushions on the floor.Esther and Orion made exclamation sounds as they walked.

"It's amazing!" Orion stood by the wooden bookshelf by the wall, flipping through the books one by one, "What were you thinking just now? Why are there these books?"

"What I'm thinking of is a room for practicing Defense Against the Dark Arts. You said next time if I think of a room for practicing Dark Arts, what will come out?" Esther's eyes lit up.

"If you're fired, I won't go to see you." Orion raised his eyebrows.

Esther and Orion stayed until lunch time before they were willing to leave the Room of Requirement. If it weren't for Potions class in the afternoon, they would all want to skip class.

During the Potions class, Leona was still sitting in the Gryffindor team closest to Esther, and when they started making potions, they could exchange a few words.

"So you found it?" Leona's excited voice was a little louder.Esther quickly looked up at Professor Snape, who was staring at them with a frown.Esther quickly lowered his head and pretended to observe the properties of the potion, and said in a low voice, "I'll tell you after class, Professor Snape is here."

But after class, Esther found that Rivers was already waiting outside the door. She had no choice but to tell Orion to take Leona there, and she followed Rivers to the Quidditch field for training.

After a month and a half of devil training, Slytherin's second Quidditch match was finally about to begin. The abundant sunshine on the day of the game did not bring much warmth, but made the snow on the ground dazzling. The biting cold wind hit the face like a knife, cutting people painfully.

This time the match was against Ravenclaw, and Rivers told Esther to make a quick decision so that Ravenclaw would get as few points as possible. After taking off, Esther quickly began to look for the golden snitch.

Slytherin's attack was so violent that the opponent's batsman had no time to pay attention to Esther's whereabouts. But the Seeker on the opposite side has been surrounding Estefy, entangled like a devil's net.Esther had no choice but to keep flying, trying to physically wear down the opponent.

Soon after Esther rose to the sky again, she saw a small golden dot standing out in the vast expanse of whiteness. She glanced at the Ravenclar Seeker who was following her, but apparently he hadn't noticed. If she made a move now, the opponent would follow her, and she was not fully sure of winning.Esther turned his broom and flew towards the Slytherin batsman.

"Kress, hit me later," she whispered as she flew past the batter.

Esther quickly flew away from the crowd, and the Ravenclaw Seeker caught up again. She adjusted her height to block the opponent's line of sight, and waited for Kress' Bludger to fly over.

"Guess what I saw?" Esther's words caught the attention of the opponent's Seeker. She heard a gust of wind galloping towards the back of her head, she smiled at the Seeker opposite, shrank suddenly and descended. The light blocked by Esther was suddenly projected over, making Ravenclae's Seeker briefly distracted, and then the Bludger hit him directly.

Seeing that the plan was successful, Esther quickly flew towards the Golden Snitch and grabbed it in his hand.

While the Slytherins were delighted with the victory, the other Houses were not. It was easy to see that it was a trap when they saw the two Seekers stop to talk before the Bludger hit one of them.Although no foul was called, it was not fair to win. What's more, the Seeker who was hit is still lying in the school hospital.

Esther didn't care much about other people's comments.Rivers finally let her go without additional training, and she spent almost all of her spare time in the Room of Requirement with Leona and Orion.

"What are you practicing today?" Leona was eager to try.

"Practise the disarming spell and the petrifying spell first. You can't expect spells that don't work at all times to work just right in battle." Esther said, looking down at "Self-Defense Spells".

"Get some new ones." Leona protested to Esther.Seeing that the other party was indifferent, he had no choice but to resign himself to his fate and pick up his wand to practice against Orion.

"I think you should move," Esther pouted after watching the two people who kept picking up wands for a while, "Even if you practice the defensive spell, moving and dodging is the most effective. Can't you move under your feet?"

It doesn't take long for Esther to regret her offer, as the banging spell forces her to drop her book and join the fray.

With the arrival of the Easter holiday, the second graders entered the first stage of independent course selection. On the basis of these current courses, several elective courses are added to prepare for future employment. These elective courses will start at the beginning of the third grade, and it is conceivable that the leisurely days will come to an end soon.

"If I can skip History of Magic and Astronomy, I'll take one more class of divination." Esther said to Orion, wondering what class Leona would sign up for, and planned to ask her about it at dinner .When she wrote to Aunt Connie to inquire about course selection, she said that divination and arithmetic divination should be at least one.Esther expressed indifference to all divination, and thought that all the gods and gods were useless.

Orion's mother also wrote to him to give him some suggestions, invariably mentioned divination lessons and runes, saying that many ancient magics required the interpretation of runes.Apparently his mother wanted him to be a research scholar, not just another cannon fodder to charge into battle.

After dinner, Esther followed Leona and Orion to the Room of Requirement to study electives.Leona is interested in Fantastic Beasts, and she's always been fond of small animals.Esther agreed, and she could study which parts of them could be made into potions while looking at them. What the three of them unanimously vetoed was Muggle research. Esther and Leona had been Muggles for 11 years, and they didn't feel that there was anything to study, and their lives were integrated into their bones. And Orion didn't know how to study Muggles anymore, and being friends with two Muggle-born wizards was probably the limit.

In the end, the three of them finally agreed to take electives such as arithmetic and divination, ancient runes and protection of magical creatures.

After sending Leona back to the lounge, Esther and Orion went down the stairs to go back to the dungeon.Suddenly the stairs turned and sent them into another corridor.

"Oops, today is Friday." Esther said angrily, and they were going to take a long detour.

Orion shrugged, saying that he could only accept his fate. But as they walked, they found that fate was always so similar. They walked to the corridor when they first entered school, and met three people they didn't want to see again.

Almost at the same time, each of the five people drew out their wands and shot different colored lights. After a recent period of training, Esther and Wilkes are very flexible. They jumped sideways, chanting spells incessantly.

Since it was their first challenge, none of them had much experience.Esther flung out every spell he could think of in a haphazard manner, no matter where it was cast. The corridor was filled with green smoke and dust falling from the walls, and it was impossible to see anything clearly.

"What are you doing!" A sharp voice came, "You little bastards who cast spells in the corridor, don't obey the school rules, and cause trouble all day long. Let me see who it is?"

Oops, it's Filch.Esther wondered if he would cast a spell on Filch before the smoke cleared, and then sneak away. She sneaked towards Orion, and was about to see Filch's position before casting a spell and pulling him away.

But her thoughts were lost, because the sound of footsteps around her gradually increased.Obviously their movement just now was a bit too loud. The sight became clearer, and Esther saw the three people who were fighting against each other lying on the ground, Dearborn was lying on the ground with pustules all over his face, and the other two seemed to have passed out.

Filch looked down at the three people on the ground, then looked up at Esther and Orion, grinning cruelly, "Hurt your classmates, huh? I think you are going to say goodbye to Hogwarts. Maybe Headmaster Dumbledore will allow me to use the chains from the ceiling to hang you up for a few days before I go, and warn the other students not to be mischievous."

Esther's heart sank, she didn't expect to hurt the three of them so badly. If it is a Muggle fight, she is absolutely sure that the opponent will be hurt but will not hurt the vitals. It doesn't matter if the police come, she has a lot of experience in this area. But now the situation of the three people opposite made her at a loss. She didn't even remember which spells she used just now, and which counter-spells she should use.

Orion looks even worse than Esther, because he is more afraid of being expelled from school. Failure to graduate from wizard school will undoubtedly mean destruction for him.

However, Esther's psychological quality is still very good, and he immediately regained his sanity after a brief absence. She nudged Orion to bring him back to his senses, then flicked her wand to levitate Dearborn, motioning for Orion to do the same. She said to Filch in an unquestionable tone, "Sir, I think the most urgent thing now is to send them to the infirmary first, and there will be time for punishment when they come back."

Filch was very ashamed that no student had ever talked to him like this. He wrote down Esther's name, then directed the students who watched the excitement to take them to the school hospital, and hurried upstairs by himself.

Madam Pomfrey, the head nurse, is an experienced medical staff. But she was still quite surprised when she saw the state of the three of them, "Merlin! How did this happen?" He looked at Esther and the two of them, as if he didn't quite believe that the damage was caused by the magic released by the two second-year students.

"It was a mess at the time, and I don't remember what spells were used. I'm sorry ma'am. Do you think we can do anything to make up for our mistakes? We can help make potions, and our potions are both okay." Esther Nervously said, she hopes to perform as well as possible, at least not to be expelled from school.

"You don't need to make potions. If you want to make up for it, you can apply medicine to this student's abscess first. You can't help the other two." Madam Pomfrey gave Esther a bottle of ointment, and then went to treat the other two. students.

Esther opened the ointment, wrinkling her nose from the choking smell of rotting cabbage. She was cruel, poured a large piece on the palm of her hand, and then handed it to Orion, asking him to help too.The two of them divided up and began to administer medicine to Dearborn.

Although Dearborn was tortured by the pustule, he was still unwilling to accept the treatment of the two of them.He struggled to twist his neck to avoid Esther's hand, refusing the ointment she brought over.

"I know why you keep getting on with Orion." Esther stopped, looked at Dearborn and said, "but I think you're wrong. He's not his dad, he's not a criminal; just like you aren't your dad , you are not a hero."

"Shut up, you're his accomplice! You don't understand anything! His dad killed my dad! I want revenge!" Dearborn stared at Esther fiercely, struggling to make a sound.

"But his father is dead, and you just want to find a scapegoat." Esther said calmly, "If everyone is as unreasonable as you, what is the difference between them and Death Eaters?"

"Death Eaters didn't kill your family, of course you can say it easily." Dearborn was very disdainful.

"Actually, they didn't directly kill my family." Esther seemed indifferent, "Although their appearance caused my father to abandon me, and then my mother died in depression," Esther took a breath, but his tone remained the same Calmly, "But I hope they do it directly, so at least in my heart my parents love me, and I can hate Death Eaters openly."

Orion also heard Est's words, and his hands shook slightly, but he didn't say anything.

Esther paused for a moment, as if recalling something, then recovered and continued to give the potion to the pustule on Dearborn's face. This time he didn't hide anymore, he just looked at Esther with weird eyes, not knowing what he was thinking.
