Chapter 64 Tear off the disguise

Back in his room, Esther was very dissatisfied with his performance. She hated herself for being so useless, Snape had already hurt her like that, yet she still cared about him, cared about him.She enjoyed being in the room with him, and she was happy that he was trembling under her drugged hands. She still loves him, she knows it.

She tried to clear her mind, but Snape's dark eyes and tense body always broke through the barriers and appeared in her mind.Esther tidied the uncluttered desk over and over again, hoping to stop his random thoughts through labor. But the method that has always worked has failed today. She reluctantly threw the scroll on the desk aside and buried her head in her arms.

Despite his misgivings, Esther showed up at Snape's office the next day.Snape still treated her with a cold face, but he didn't resist like yesterday. He consciously drank the medicine that Este brought, and then went to the bedroom to wait for Este to check.

With the help of a bandage, the wound healed better.Tender pink flesh grew out of it, standing out against the pale, somewhat unhealthy skin.Esther changed his medicine from top to bottom, and Snape didn't object. As if they had discussed it, the two of them didn't say a word from the beginning to the end.Est breathed a sigh of relief.

The subsequent treatment was spent tacitly and dull.On the last day before the new year, Esther was making medicine for Snape as usual, when someone knocked on the door outside.Esther walked over to open the door, and unexpectedly found that it was Grindelwald.

"Mr. Sommer?" Esther asked.

"Dumbledore is looking for his brother, and I'll come to see you." Grindelwald wandered around the room casually.

"He has a younger brother?" Esther asked in surprise.

"Yeah, that's the owner of the Pig's Head Bar, Aberforth Dumbledore. Didn't he tell you?" Grindelwald flipped through the parchment on the table and said absently.

"He?" Esther thought of the bar owner who was always rude to her, "I really didn't see it, they were completely different—why didn't you go with him? You should know him very well?"

Grindelwald paused and said perfunctorily, "We don't have a good relationship."

Esther didn't continue to ask, but returned to the operating table and continued to stir the potion in the crucible. She knows enough is enough.

"Are you still making medicine for that kid Snape? I heard before that he wanted Dumbledore to transfer you out of Hogwarts." Grindelwald said casually.

"I didn't interfere with your affairs, why do you care about me." Esther frowned.

"I just don't think you need to take care of him. He seems to be a potion master himself, so he can do it by himself."

"He won't waste time treating himself well, just look at those old injuries. I guess his treatment standard is that he can't die."

"That's right."

Esther suddenly felt that letting him in was a mistake.Fortunately, Grindelwald did not continue this topic, but became interested in the sheepskin scroll.

"Where did this come from?" He shook the parchment in his hand.

"Family legacy." Esther replied casually.

"Why don't I remember that there is such a family as Collins?" Grindelwald looked at the sheepskin scroll appreciatively.

"What's the matter? What's so special about this scroll?" Estel avoided talking about the Shafik family.

"You don't know?" Grindelwald stared at Esther uncharacteristically.Reminds her of the oppression he brought upon her in Nurmengard.

"I only know that this is a kind of magic about protecting the soul. The text on it is a bit complicated, and the Latin part is okay. It's like Niwen, which I have learned, and I haven't studied it very well yet." Under pressure, Este spoke sincerely a lot.

Grindelwald smiled mysteriously, "Horcrux, have you heard of it?"

Esther looked at Grindelwald blankly, a little hurt by Grindelwald's contemptuous eyes.

"Your level of black magic knowledge is really bad. Horcruxes don't even know about it. Horcruxes split a part of your soul and attach it to a container, so that you won't die even if you are fatally attacked. The part of the soul in the Horcrux will be pulled stay in this world with your soul."

"So this parchment scroll is how to make a Horcrux?" Estel asked.

"It seems to be more than that." Grindelwald said while studying, "There are also how to repair the soul, seal the mark and summon the undead. But this is just one of them, and the content seems incomplete. What about the others?"

"I'm only bringing out this volume," said Esther.

"When are you going again? I'll go with you." Grindelwald put away his lazy look, as if he had changed.

"Are you sure Professor Dumbledore agrees?" Esther looked at him suspiciously.

Grindelwald seemed to have a distorted expression for a moment, but he quickly returned to normal and put away the sheepskin scroll. "Then study it slowly by yourself. With your level of black magic, I'm afraid you won't be able to understand it until you die."

"I just looked around casually, and I didn't intend to really study it. There are so many ways to delay death, who would use this method of dividing the soul."

"I think one of them will."

"Who?" Est asked curiously.

"Voldemort." Grindelwald curled his lips, "I think Dumbledore arranged for you to find Horcruxes last time. No matter how strong Voldemort is, Dumbledore and I will be more than enough to defeat him. But he always refuses My suggestion. I think he probably made the Horcruxes to keep Dumbledore in check. It's tasteless, it's better to die than to live in this way."

"You mean—I'm looking for a soul, not a memory?" Esther couldn't believe it.

"Dumbledore didn't tell you? Does he still like to keep his followers secret? You don't know anything and follow his plan?" Grindelwald looked at Esther with a half-smile and asked.

"I—" Esther was annoyed, "I don't know—but it doesn't matter, and there was no problem when I found it a few times ago. Whether it's memory or soul, I just need to find it, and I don't need to study it so clearly " Esther said so, but in her heart she was complaining about Dumbledore's concealment from her, as if she had been betrayed.

"How many did you find before?" Grindelwald said softly, "Has he made more than one?"

"There is a limit to this thing? Isn't it possible to do it with a soul?" Este asked.

"What do you think the soul is? Is it a parchment that can be torn at will?" Grindelwald was dissatisfied with Esther's innocence, "Only a complete soul has great power, and death is nothing compared to it. Don't act so ignorant."

"How do you know how many there are?" Esther asked eagerly, ignoring Grindelwald's ridicule.

"How do I know? You should ask Voldemort." Grindelwald lost his patience completely.

"So it seems impossible to end Voldemort right now, and Snape still wants to carry out his plan to assassinate Dumbledore, right?" Este's voice was a little depressed.

"Dumbledore talked to him a few times, he didn't want that kid to be backlashed by the unbreakable oath, and there was a man named Malfoy, he didn't want him to have his soul split because of killing people. As for Snape agreeing or not, I don't know." understood."

Esther dug out the bottle of memory that Grindelwald gave her from the cabinet, "What do you think of this thing?"

"I was going to put you in your head directly," Grindelwald raised his lips, "but I found that Dumbledore has a Pensieve, and that one is more suitable."

Grindelwald left for a while, and when he came back, he had a silver basin full of liquid and gas in his hand.Esther remembered she had seen this thing at Snape. Now thinking about it, he didn't let him touch it because he was afraid that he would ruin his memory. He was teaching Harry Occlumency at the time, and the stored memory probably had something to do with Lily.Thinking of this, she felt a stabbing pain in her heart again. She quickly uses Occlumency to lock her thoughts and emotions away, following Grindelwald's instructions to access his memory.

The green Dark Mark gleamed sinisterly on the towers of the Astronomy Tower. In addition to Dumbledore, Malfoy and Snape, there were several Death Eaters on the tower. But Esther didn't have time to see who it was, and it happened. All she could see clearly was Snape's expression of disgust and hatred and the green light from his wand. She was pulled by the memory and flew down the Astronomy Tower, but Dumbledore really remained as dead as dead.Just when Esther watched Dumbledore desperately about to fall to the ground, he finally turned into a bat and flew up to the ground, and after a while he turned into himself again.

Memories are short, and Esther floats up from the Pensieve. She stared blankly at the silver substance flowing in the basin, recalling what she had just seen.Grindelwald picked out the memory and put it back in his mind, and looked at Esther, "How about it, do you understand?"

"I - disguised as Dumbledore?" Esther's eyes were a little dazed.

"It seems so." Grindelwald nodded.

"It seems like a good idea, and I seem to be able to survive." Esther said slowly, "But the premise is that you haven't tampered with this memory..."

"You don't trust me?" Grindelwald looked at Esther.

"I don't know much about prophecy. I haven't taken a divination class, and I haven't seen what it looks like when making a prophecy. With such a short memory, I really can't tell if it is true or false. If it is false—— "

"Then you will fall to the ground and be torn apart just like when I first foresaw it." Grindelwald smiled nastyly, "Keep Dumbledore's appearance and die. Do you want to see that part?"

"You want to use me as Dumbledore's substitute?" Esther questioned.

"It was you who chose to be Dumbledore's substitute. This is what I foresaw. I never said that I tampered with this memory."

Esther looked at the silver-white substances that looked like water and air again, and fell silent.

After a long time, Grindelwald broke the silence, "This is just a possibility in the future, and it may not necessarily happen. If you don't want to, of course you can choose not to do this."

Instead, Grindelwald’s words made Esther make up his mind, “I need Dumbledore’s hair, and when the time comes, you have to hold Dumbledore back, and you can’t show your feet. If that’s the case, I think it’s Best option. But before I do that I have to think about how Malfoy got the Death Eaters in, maybe without that, we can…"

Before Esther could finish speaking, she was interrupted by a knock on the door. She opened the door, and Snape was standing outside, frowning.

"You—" He saw Grindelwald in the room, "Why is he here?"

"Why can't I be here?" Grindelwald said casually, "It's strange for you to come here, didn't you tell Dumbledore that you don't want to see her at Hogwarts?"

"You overheard our conversation," Snape hissed, narrowing his eyes dangerously.

"No, it's not eavesdropping, I'm just resting in the bedroom inside, your conversation is too loud." Grindelwald smiled badly again, "Okay, little bat, I should go back too. Dumbledore is almost Time to come back too." He levitated the Pensieve with his wand.

"Give this to Dumbledore, and tell him that I can bring the remaining scrolls if needed." Esther pushed the sheepskin scroll to Grindelwald, "Don't keep it for yourself, I will ask him."

Grindelwald pouted, took the scroll and left.

Snape watched Grindelwald leave suspiciously, then looked at Esther, as if waiting for her to explain.

Esther didn't say anything, just went to the cauldron and put the potion in a cup and gave it to Snape.

"What were you two talking about?" Snape couldn't help asking.

"Nothing." Esther said perfunctorily.

"I told you he was dangerous! What memory did he show you? What are you doing with the Pensieve?" Snape demanded.

"Mr. Snape, please drink your medicine, and then you can leave after we change the bandages! Please leave me alone, you said our relationship is over. You asked me to leave you alone, sir!" Ster said bluntly.

"I'm afraid you will be bewitched by him and used by him! His ability to manipulate people's hearts is more powerful than the Dark Lord!" Snape said irritably.

"Even if I was used by him, what position do you stand on to stop me, my lord?" Esther was aggressive.

"I—" Snape was momentarily at a loss for words. He dodged Esther's eyes, as if they were two sharp swords, splitting his disguise.

"Please don't forget what you said, you are not interested in me, and I am no longer Lily." Esther said coldly.

"Yes! Yes! You're not Lily!" Snape yelled resignedly. "She's always been my friend! But you—you—"

"Me?" Esther stared at Snape so hard that he couldn't avoid it.

"Damn it! I like you, come on, I like you!" Snape closed his eyes in pain.

Esther was pleasantly surprised for a moment, but soon his face sank again, "Sir, is it interesting to play with my feelings? First alienate me, then insult me, and now tell me you like me? Are you kidding me?"

"No, it's not." Snape opened his eyes, and Esther's shadow was reflected in the dark eyes, "Before I deliberately alienated you, and said those words to you, just to keep you away from me."

"Because you shouldn't like me, you like Lily." Esther said indifferently.

"Lily Potter is my friend, my family, and one of the few good memories of my childhood. I love her because she is like my sister. As long as she is with me, I am not alone." Nepe said softly, his voice seemed so small that a gust of wind could blow it away, "But you are the beginning of my impulsiveness, and I have feelings that should not belong to me. I dare not accept it, and I am reluctant to give it up. I Only by forcing you to leave can you return to your normal life and the life that a spy should live without having unrealistic fantasies."

Esther's eyes were testing, she hoped that what he said was true, and she couldn't forget what he said to hurt her before. "Then why are you telling me now? Why not keep going?"

"Because you've gone astray now and cooperated with Grindelwald. I'm worried about you! Did he show you what he foresaw, you—what did you see?" Snape asked nervously.

"I saw you killed Dumbledore." Esther said calmly.

Snape's expression twisted, "So - you have to understand - you have to leave me."

"I don't think that's going to happen," Esther said, leaning closer to Snape. "Even if it happened, it wouldn't be a reason for me to leave you. I saw you and Narcissa made an unbreakable vow, and I was there the other day." Out the window, I know you had no choice at the time. I trust you, I want to help you, you shouldn't hurt me like that."

"I'm sorry." Snape's dark eyes were full of pain, "but you can't help me, this is my fate, and I deserve the punishment. I will be ruined and die well. But you are still young, and there will be opportunities in the future befriend..."

Esther put his finger on Snape's mouth and said softly, "It's war now, but no one dares to say that if you are young, you will definitely live to the end. And I can help you, even if it's just to relieve your tense nerves That's fine. Do you have any unrealistic fantasies, tell me? Isn't that so?"

Esther stood on tiptoe, and gently brought her lips to Snape's, covering Snape's thin lips.Snape dodged subconsciously. "I can't refuse, you've hurt me once, and I'll never forgive you for the second time." Esther tugged at Snape's collar, leaned into his ear and whispered in a bewitching voice, "And this mistletoe It's been hanging since before Christmas, don't let it down."

Esther let out a hot breath after speaking, and kissed Snape's ear.Her lips felt the ears heat up rapidly until they were a little hot.She let go of Snape, seeing dark eyes looking straight at her.She smiled slightly, and kissed Snape's lips again.
