Chapter 301 Snape's Memory (4)

The scene disappears again...

Jane was still standing behind Snape, and this time she appeared in the Hogwarts Great Hall, facing a long house table lit by candlelight, surrounded by excited faces. She would see such a scene at the beginning of every school year.

Professor McGonagall stood in front, holding a piece of parchment in her hand, and shouted, "Lily Evans!" just like when she entered the school.

Jane watched as Lily, who was standing in front of Snape, stepped forward on trembling legs and sat down on the rickety stool.Professor McGonagall put the Sorting Hat on her head. The Sorting Hat had barely touched her crimson hair for a second before calling out, "Gryffindor!"

Jane stood beside Snape, and clearly heard Snape let out a soft sigh.

Seeing Lily take off her hat and return it to Professor McGonagall, and hurried towards the cheering Gryffindor students, it is not difficult for Jane to guess that in the years to come, these two people may be completely disconnected. So much so that until she appeared, he never mentioned her name in front of her.

When Lily walked to the long table of Gryffindor College, she looked back at Snape with a helpless wry smile on her face.

Jane saw Sirius move on the bench to make room for her.

Lily glanced at him, seemed to recognize him as the man on the train, and immediately folded her arms and turned her back to him firmly.

The roll call was still going on, and Jane saw Lupine, Pettigrew, and James all at the Gryffindor table, sitting with Lily and Sirius. In the end, there were only a dozen or so students who hadn't been sorted until Professor McGonagall called Snape's name.

Jane went with him to the stool and watched him put the hat on his head.

"Slytherin!" the Sorting Hat shouted.

Snape walked to the other side of the hall, where the Slytherins cheered him on.Lucius Malfoy, wearing the shiny prefect badge on his chest, patted Snape who was sitting beside him...

The scene reversed, and Lily and Snape were walking in the castle yard, apparently arguing.Meanwhile, Jane discovers that they are both much taller, a memory that has passed since the sorting years.

"...thought we were supposed to be friends?" Snape was talking. "Best friends?"

"Yeah, Sev, but I don't like the guys you hang out with! I'm sorry, but I hate Avery and Mulciber! Do you see what's good about him, Sev? Sneaky Damn it! Do you know what he wanted to do to Mary MacDonald that day?" Lily walked to a pillar and leaned against it, looking up at the sallow and thin face, looking very angry.

"That's nothing," said Snape, "just kidding, it's nothing—"

"That's Dark Arts, if you think it's funny—" Lily demanded, obviously not agreeing with Snape at all.

"But what about Potter and his friends?" Snape demanded, blood rushing to his face again, and he seemed unable to contain the resentment.

"What's up with Potter?" Lily said.

"They sneak out at night. There's something weird about that Lupine. He's always out. Where does he go?"

"He's sick," said Lily, "they say he's sick—"

"When the moon is full?" Snape said.

"I know what you're thinking," Lily said, coldly. "It's strange, why do you care so much about them? Why do you care what they do at night?"

Jane raised her eyebrows, knowing that Lily was determined to protect Lupine and James. If it was her, she wouldn't bother with this topic at this time.Obviously, Snape had the same idea as her.Because then she heard Snape whisper, "I just want you to see that they're not as good as everyone thinks they are."

This was the first time Jane heard something similar to jealousy from Snape, but sadly the target was not her, but a red-haired girl more than ten years ago.

Jane can't tell what kind of feeling she feels in her heart, but she can only say that her heart is like a churned cream, and a lot of black ink has been added to it, which makes her feel uncomfortable. But her rationality kept telling her that it was just an episode that Snape experienced before, and she hadn't appeared at that time, even if Snape and Lily really had something, she had no reason to blame him.If it is pursued, it can only be said that she did not come to the world early and intervene in Snape's life early.

But even though she kept comforting herself like this in her heart, it still couldn't let her drive away the unhappiness in her heart.Especially when she watched Snape stare intently at Lily, who blushed from it.She felt that if Snape appeared beside her now, she would take a stick and break his leg!

—Even if someone told her that Snape didn't know her at that time, it couldn't alleviate the jealousy in her heart.

"But they didn't use the Dark Arts," Lily lowered her voice, and then she brought the subject back to the one Snape had avoided, "and you're really ungrateful. I heard about that night. You never Sneaked down that tunnel under Whomping Willow, and it was James Potter who rescued you from the—”

Snape was obviously so enraged by Lily's words that his whole face was distorted and he said angrily, "Save me? Save me? You think he's a hero? He's saving himself, and his my friend! You can't—I won't let you—"

"Let me? Let me?" Lily's bright green eyes narrowed.

Snape flinched immediately: "I didn't mean that - I just didn't want to see you being taken for a fool - he likes you, James Potter likes you!" The words seemed to be forced out of his mouth "He's not... the great Quidditch star everyone thinks..."

Pain and disgust made Snape incoherent, and Lily's eyebrows rose higher and higher on her forehead.

"I know James Potter is a self-righteous megalomaniac," Lily interrupted Snape, "and I don't need you to tell me that. But the so-called humor of Mulciber and Avery is evil. Evil , Sev. I don't see how you can make friends with them."

Jane wondered if Snape had heard her criticism of Mulciber and Avery, because when Lily's accusation against James Potter came out of his mouth, his whole body relaxed. As they turned to walk away, Snape's steps became light again.

Jane understood that Severus Snape really loved this girl named Lily Evans as much as she loved Snape. And obviously, Lily Evans also understands this feeling.

"But they're not together after all..." Jane murmured, as if she was admonishing herself, or self-hypnotic.

The author has something to say:

Supplement March 3

They are all the characters’ dialogues and facial expressions from the original book... Nima, if anyone says that Lily didn’t take sides with Lupin, I’m really going to be bloody. If anyone says that Lily doesn’t know that Snape likes her, I can only say Chinese reading comprehension can be rebuilt.
