Chapter 18 Weekend Lectures

The third grade is recognized as the easiest grade.

The first and second graders have just entered the school and are still in the adaptation period. They can't go to Hogsmeade on weekends like the middle and upper grades, and they can't go home.

In the fourth and fifth grades, although the students are still very relaxed, the professors will invariably raise the requirements to prepare for OWLs.

Not to mention the sixth and seventh grades, NEWTs and employment issues are imminent.

In this way, the third grade is indeed the most carefree grade.

This should be the case, if not for today's lecture.

"I really don't know what the headmaster thinks, I think he is getting older and crazier." A Gryffindor boy complained loudly in the middle of the auditorium.

"It's a good weekend, but what kind of job introduction seminar do you want to have?" He said more and more excitedly, and stood directly on the chair.

"I'm supposed to be on a date and now I'm sitting here wasting my time..."

His words resonated with many people: Weekends are rare, and a vacation is spent listening to lectures?

Alice hid in the crowd, shrinking her neck in fear.

She just proposed to let the students know about the future employment situation. Who would have thought that the principal not only adopted the suggestion, but also put the introduction lecture on the weekend!

In addition to the resistance of students and classmates, Alice has another worry: the students listen to the lecture with negative emotions, and the lecture may not have the desired effect.

But soon, seeing the four professors who came in, she knew that this worry was unnecessary.

When the students saw their respective deans, they all shut up and stopped complaining.

Alice noticed that the boy who complained the loudest before was sitting most upright with his back straight.

"What? Do you think that if you are promoted to the seventh grade in such a muddle, you can get good grades in the exam, and then find a satisfactory job smoothly?"

It was Snape who spoke first, and the series of taunts made people unable to refute, especially the Slytherin students, most of whom blushed with shame.

"You can ask the seniors and sisters who have graduated, how many of them realize that their grades are far from enough to apply for the ideal career when they are employed."

Snape looked around, and the students who were stared at all lowered their heads, guilty of not daring to look at him.

Alice was also a little guilty. I don't know if it was an illusion. The professor's eyes seemed to stop at her.

She suspected that Snape was unwilling to give the lecture, and was dissatisfied with herself as the "mastermind".

"Most of them started in Year [-] and realized the importance of grades, but because of the poor grades in OWLs, they couldn't even take the corresponding advanced courses, let alone get good grades."

"If your heads are not full of achnatherum, you should know that this lecture is very important."

After saying these words, Snape directly retreated to the team of teachers in the audience regardless of the frozen atmosphere in the auditorium.

"Okay, okay, let's get to the topic. Let me introduce the specific content of the OWLs exam to you first, and then there will be professors of corresponding subjects to introduce related work."

The next person on stage was Professor Sprout, whose gentle words eased the tense atmosphere.

Is this the wisdom of the professors?Let Professor Snape intimidate the students first, and then let Professor Sprout ease the atmosphere.

Alice admired in her heart, not only knowledge, but also a kind of knowledge in dealing with people.

"Although you are only in the third grade, I believe you still understand the OWLs exam."

"The exam will be held at the end of the fifth grade and lasts for two weeks. The theoretical exam is in the morning and the practical exam is in the afternoon. I would like to remind that OWLs are no less important than NEWTs."

"Next, as a professor of herbal medicine, I have a few words to say." Professor Sprout's expression became serious.

"Perhaps you feel that herbal medicine is easier than other courses. But I must say that herbal medicine is the foundation of many subjects, so it is also the one that takes up the most hours."

"The most difficult exam for NEWTs is Potions, but Herbalism is the foundation of Potions."

Professor Sprout took a special look at the Hufflepuff girls: "Many professions, such as healers, require grades of E or above in Herbal Medicine."

In the following time, the remaining deans came to the stage to introduce the professions related to their disciplines.

Alice didn't intend to arouse the anxiety of the students, but seeing everyone's pensive expressions, she was relieved that her investigation was not in vain.

The last ending is Professor McGonagall, who is recognized as the fairest professor and the most respected by students.

"We emphasize the importance of grades, not to ask you to blindly pursue high scores or 12 O's."

There was a commotion below, and even Alice looked at the podium suspiciously, not understanding what Professor McGonagall meant.

"What we really hope is that you can value your future and think about what career you really want to do."

"If you want to be a housewife or be a Quidditch player, then you can choose to focus on life magic and flying lessons."

"We just don't want grades to be the biggest obstacle to your future."

These words won the most sincere applause from the students.

At the end of the lecture, Alice hurriedly chased after Professor Sprout before he left.

"Professor, I have some questions about future employment."

Professor Sprout was stunned for a moment, but he replied immediately: "Okay, I think we can go to the office and talk carefully."

……

Most of the time, Alice only met Professor Sprout in the greenhouse. When she entered the office at this time, she was surprised but felt that it should be so.

The small room is almost surrounded by green plants, and the sunlight shines in through several large glass windows, making the yellow furniture look more warm.

Hufflepuff always seemed to have a reassuring magic power. As soon as she sat down and took a sip of tea, Alice's excited heart calmed down.

"Professor Sprout, I would like to ask, if I want to specialize in the study of herbal medicine in the future, where should I start?"

"Honey, may I know why you want to do herbal research?"

Professor Sprout looked at Alice heavily, and after a moment of pondering, he spoke: "I thought you would pay more attention to employment and money factors, and research work does not necessarily result in results."

It was no secret that Alice was a poor orphan.Only by studying can you make money, which is why everyone thinks that Alice studies hard.

These questions reminded Alice of the past, and she was in a trance for a while.

"Before I entered school, I was very excited when I learned about magic for the first time. I started to preview the night I bought the textbook." Alice will never forget that night.

"I think the weird plants are very interesting, and the detailed illustrations in the book give me a sense of familiarity in a Muggle biology class."

Professor Sprout did not interrupt Alice and listened quietly.

"After the school officially started, I found that herbal medicine is indeed a subject I am good at."

"I remember that you are very good at other subjects, such as Potions?" Professor Sprout said half-jokingly, "I heard that Snape picked you up back then, you should have a good relationship."

Maybe it was good before, Alice thought of the way Professor Snape looked at her in the auditorium, but not necessarily after that.

"But I'm more interested in herbalism than potions." Alice skipped over the topic of Professor Snape directly, saying that it would be bad if someone said bad things about someone behind his back.

"And, according to my research, as long as the research work can produce results, the pay is often higher than that of ordinary jobs."

"This really fits your personality." Professor Sprout couldn't help but laugh, "Then I look forward to Alice, you can make achievements and make a lot of money in the future."

By the time Alice came out of the office with a long list of recommended books, it was already dark.

The first thing is to complete the study in the textbook, but I have already previewed the content of the next semester in advance, so there is no need to worry about this for the time being.

Then there are these books.Although Professor Sprout just hoped that she could pick a few books to read, Alice still thought it would be best to read them.

But you can't just look at it, maybe you should make a plan.Read one book a week and then write a book report?

While thinking about it, Alice rushed to the dining room. She hadn't eaten all afternoon and was about to starve to death.

But the next moment, she hid herself behind the pillar, her eyes fixed on the corner ahead.

It's Peggy and that Igger Green!

The green uniforms of the Slytherins stood out more to the Hufflepuffs, though neither of them clearly cared about it.

Isn't it embarrassing for two people to look at each other affectionately but not speak? !

Peggy, why do you show such a shy expression?Didn't you two not speak the whole time?

And, okay, why did Green smile so softly and help Peggy cut her hair?

This is obviously a relationship between couples. Alice is not jealous, but only angry.

Recently, Peggy has often disappeared, and when asked, she said that she had made an appointment with a friend.Alice felt suspicious, so she asked specifically this morning.

"Peggy, why are you busier than me recently? You won't be in a relationship, are you, and Egg Green from Slytherin?"

"No, no, no. It's just an ordinary friend, definitely not Iger!"

The two people at the corner held hands and left sweetly.

Alice came out from behind the pillar with a gloomy face, and lied to me that she would not date in the morning and hold hands with boys at night, right?

If I were to question Peggy now, would she say that we just talked about it last night?Alice looked up at the sky at 45 degrees, and felt that there was an 80.00% probability that she would indeed answer that way.

"Isn't studying better than falling in love? Scumbags will cheat your feelings, but knowledge won't. It will even bring you money." Shaking her head, Alice continued to rush to the dining hall.
