Miss Watson of the Sherlock Holmes
Chapter 24
"Are you serious?" Ursula re-examined Eric with the eyes of a magical creature, slapped his paw away, turned her head and walked towards her train compartment.
"Of course!" Eric followed quickly, his tone full of anticipation to come and make trouble together.
"Aren't you curious? Don't you want to get involved in Sherlock's case and help him."
"But I don't want you to cry and point and say she's not Ursula!" She shuddered. "This case, other things are fine, only this point, it's too weird."
"Are you afraid?" Little Holmes sped up a few steps with a look of surprise on his face, overtook Ursula at once, and blocked the front. "Is there anyone in this world who can steal your soul from the protection of the laurel crown?"
"But." Ursula couldn't stop, touched the crown on her hair and hesitated, "Will it cause trouble for Mr. Holmes?"
"Our route is different." Eric continued to lobby her. "Think how happy Sherlock will be when you find a clue and give it to him."
"Would it be?" Ursula looked suspiciously at young Holmes.According to the character of Sherlock Holmes she learned from the book, the other party is not a person who will take kindly to those who intervene in the case on their own initiative.
"Actually, the most important thing is, in case there are any strange supernatural elements in it." Eric said plausibly. "We are going to help Sherlock get rid of the danger, aren't we? He will take care of the human part, and we will take care of the non-human part."
"What you said seems to make a little sense." Ursula hesitated, but for some reason, she just didn't want to make Holmes too proud, so she still didn't open her mouth to agree to him.
"The most important thing is, aren't you curious?" Eric Holmes bewitched, he deliberately lowered his voice, and said close to her ear: "Go and uncover the mystery yourself. Go and have a game with your idol competition."
"There is curiosity. But there is no competition." Ursula pushed away Eric's face again.
Since he used this routine to coax her into signing a contract not long after they met, his pretty face has lost half of its attractiveness.
Work partners are genderless, and Ursula, who has been single for two lifetimes, still believes so.
"To be honest, you want to compete with Sherlock." Ursula suddenly realized Eric's small thoughts, she smiled meaningfully, but suppressed her momentum.
"That's right. That's it." Unexpectedly, the other party readily admitted it, and had no intention of denying it at all.
Ursula felt bored. With such thick-skinned companions, she really couldn't appreciate the pleasure of bowing her head.Seeing that the other party looked like he would never give way, he simply found a comfortable position and leaned against the wall of the box on one side.
"So, do you want to join?"
Eric Holmes looked at her. "Think about it, with London as the stage, a detective agency that shuttles between two worlds. Isn't it cool?"
"Detective agency? Baker Street?" Ursula squinted. "After your uncle knew that he was renting a house for you, did you plan to come here to grab business?"
"How could it be a business grab? The scope of our business does not overlap very much." Little Holmes quibbled, but soon spread his hands under Ursula's stern stare. "Well, there may be a little overlap."
"However, he is Sherlock Holmes." Eric said seriously. "Do you really think he cares? He'll wake us up if we don't get a client from him."
"Eh." Ursula was defeated under the filter of idols. "you're right."
"So..." Eric smiled and stretched out his hand to help her brush away a stray strand of hair in front of her eyes, which was scattered because of the brisk walk on the rickety train corridor.
Ursula tossed her head a little uncomfortably, then flicked the stupid hair back.
"Okay! I really want to drive! I really lost to you. Originally, I wanted to go shopping in London and take a rest."
She looked at the other party's shining eyes, but she still lost to her crazy heart for opening a detective agency on Baker Street.
He raised his right hand and gave Eric a high five.
"Then, happy to cooperate again!"
The two smiled at each other in the narrow corridor.
"Now, Miss Watson." Seeing that the atmosphere was right, Eric looked down at the witch.
"Huh?" Ursula looked up.
Little Holmes took her hand again today, bowed his head and gave a reserved French kiss on the top of the fingers.
"Please also get used to your identity. A qualified fiancé will not shoot away his fiancé who kisses his hand every time~"
"I..." Ursula suddenly felt a little hot on her face, but only a little, and she thought it might be because she had just walked too fast.
She withdrew her hand and tucked her broken hair, just when she felt that she had to say something.
With a clatter, the door of the box behind her suddenly opened.
Ursula stepped back quickly, almost tripping over the friction of the hallway carpet.Supported by little Holmes, the two of them looked up together, only to see a very familiar head protruding from the box.
"I say you guys! Don't always flirt around me!"
After sitting inside and listening for a long time, the half-sea monster youth who finally couldn't bear it protested violently.
------
"Holmes, won't you stop them?" Dr. Watson looked worriedly in the direction the two of them left.
"Stop what. Did Ursula refuse to help me undercover?" Mr. Detective put away the cards scattered on the table and asked back.
"I don't believe you didn't see it. After all, I found out." Dr. Watson smiled wryly. "Though, I shall not know why Ursula refused you. Of course! I do not approve of it, and she is right in refusing. But I have a premonition that these two children must act privately."
"Is there anything wrong?" Holmes laughed. "Didn't we love adventure like this when we were young? Oh no, we're still obsessed with it."
As a protector, Dr. Watson was still very disturbed.Although he had seen Ursula's ability to make things happen, even though he had seen many brave and resourceful ladies in various cases over the years, he always admired them. But Ursula was the first to escape so far.
"But Ursula she..."
"She's a child who knows exactly what she's doing, isn't she? She's your niece, Watson."
"Alas, Holmes," said the doctor with a long sigh.
------------
"I really don't know what you want me to do." Ursula finally couldn't help it after trying on the hats from n shops.
"It's just buying some clothes and jewelry." Eric sat in the waiting area and saluted her with black tea.
"That's too much!" Ursula looked over there, and the piles of hat boxes that Holmes, who was packing for her, was forced to buy for her by the clerk, felt dizzy for a while. "I didn't hire a maid, how do I take care of these things."
"Let the house elves do it, I'll catch some tonight."
"Hey. This is not good." Ursula black line. "Take people away from other people's homes."
"It's nothing bad. Anyway, there is no shoemaker who can see the elves and let them make shoes." (from the fairy tales of the Grimm and the old shoemaker) Eric said nonchalantly, "Idle is idle."
And that started after they finally got to London, as soon as they got settled.Ursula was dragged by Eric Holmes, shopping around for equipment.
Dr. Watson was very supportive of this, and knowing that Ursula was not short of money, he forced her to pay fifty pounds.
"Girls should dress up beautifully. Go, let Eric take you around more."
But there are too many. She knows that middle- and upper-class women of this era have to change into different clothes at different times of the day. However, because they have been staying in the country, the ladies of the squires in the village will at most care about not repeating the clothes for each ball. She had never experienced such a posture.
"I don't feel like I can wear it." She and Eric boarded the carriage, and when she watched him still planning the next clothing purchase, she felt a rare headache. She actually started to dislike too many clothes.
"Not many, change at least one piece a day, and at least three pieces a day when participating in social activities. That's where it is. You are still short of a few ball gowns." Eric smiled and typed in the small notebook with the store name on it. ticked off.
"Almost there, there is another store."
"Then?"
"Then rumors of a rich young lady from a foreign country and her native fiancé can spread." Eric laughed in a joking tone.
"You have to trust the gossip speed of these boring men and women in the social world. Within a day, your reputation will be spread in various tea party salons."
"It's not fame. It's money," said Ursula gruffly. "Fortunately, I'm really a bit rich, or else it depends on how you continue to act."
"I did some research on the commonalities of the women in the cases. They all came to London for the first time, and before they officially showed up, they were in these shops first. Because of the big purchases, there was a lot of rumors." Little Holmes coughed. Two times, continue to talk about the case.
"Afterwards, they will be invited to attend various social gatherings immediately, and then quickly get engaged to a noble or government official."
"However, we are nominally engaged."
"It's okay, it's the same. There is also a case similar to ours in the incident. The youngest son of a government official and the heiress of a wealthy businessman in an ugly country. They attended the first prom after they got engaged. Then the girl disappeared after the prom. "
"Wait, your plan! Mr. Holmes really won't beat you?"
Ursula looked in shock at Eric Holmes, who had a plan on his face. "I mean your father, Mycroft Holmes, and you're still trying to make a joke out of him."
She felt that she had really underestimated the level of arrogance of little Sherlock Holmes, who could actually get her father involved.
"What's the matter. We didn't lie. The character design I made is very reasonable?"
"But our engagement is the biggest lie," Ursula pointed out sharply.
"Ahem, ahem, these are all trivial details." Eric Holmes tried to fool the past.
"It's not a trivial matter at all, is it?" Ursula nodded when she thought of Mycroft Holmes.Although the other party doesn't seem to like socializing very much, if he knows that she and his son have joined forces to have a fake wedding and then break up, he will definitely jump.
"But, Ursula. Even if we had sworn oaths in the church, this engagement would not be established. God would not bless a marriage engagement between a witch and an elf." Little Holmes used his silver-gray pair that was still bright in the dark environment. eyes, looking innocently at Ursula.
"Your father is still in the ring. Please consider his reputation. I don't think he wants to have the reputation of having a son who has failed in marriage."
"But we don't need to work so hard to get married. Ah," said little Holmes slowly.
"I forgot to tell you that half of the brides in this event were at the engagement banquet, and some even disappeared after the engagement was announced."
"It's so early. I thought it was going to..." Ursula wondered.
"Hey, are you expecting something?" Eric Holmes laughed, and leaned forward. In the small space of the carriage, the two of them were so close that Ursula could hear him gently Light breathing.
"If you really want to get married right away, it may take a while."
"After all, if we really want to hold a wedding ceremony right now, I won't be surprised if Dr. Watson invites me to a duel." He pretended to have a headache and said.
"Oh." Ursula didn't blush at all because of this ambiguous ridicule. Instead, she gave the other party a cold look and pushed his face away.
"I'm sorry, I'm just focusing on the fact that both of you, uncle and nephew, have a history of fraudulent marriage, so think a little more. After all, once you get involved in a case, you really can't trust your character in this regard."
The carriage stopped.
"Come on, the last store." After rubbing Ursula's ruthless face, Eric jumped out of the car first.
After the coachman had set the pedals, he reached out to Ursula in the car.
"This, and the only one, where every missing lady has been. Please, Miss Watson."
Ursula held up her skirt and held little Sherlock Holmes's arm politely. She stepped on the pedal and landed on the stone-paved commercial area of Regent Street.
It's an ornate store with big shiny glass windows. On the door painted black and inlaid with stained glass, there is a signboard of the same color.
She raised her head and looked carefully at the door, and saw the word "malkuth" written in golden cursive script, decorated with lotus patterns.
"What kind of shop is this?" Ursula looked back from the store's elaborate flower arrangements in the window. "Florist? You can't tell from the outside."
"Perfume shop. Known as the most magical shop in London, it is the vane of perfume fashion in the London society. It is very popular among noble ladies."
"There are rumors that brides who buy lotus perfume here and use it at their wedding will definitely have a happy marriage for a lifetime." Eric Holmes introduced her to her and led her into the store.
"That's right, sir. Our signature perfume is blessed by the goddess Isis. It will definitely protect the future of every girl." A melodious female voice sounded.
Ursula looked at the comer.A lady in a dark blue satin dress greeted her with a bright professional smile.
"Welcome to Lady Caitlin Perfume House."
"Of course!" Eric followed quickly, his tone full of anticipation to come and make trouble together.
"Aren't you curious? Don't you want to get involved in Sherlock's case and help him."
