Heartbeat misses Nick Charlie

When I got home from the exam on Monday afternoon, I threw my schoolbag on the floor and collapsed on the sofa in the living room.Today is going well, there are only two exams left, and summer vacation is beckoning to me.

summer vacation.What can I do in summer vacation?I hardly wish the exam was over.

When Sai was at my house last Saturday, Charlie sent me a blank message.I don't know what he means, my phone is very old, and I dropped it on the stairs a few months ago, so it must be malfunctioning.I've turned off my phone since yesterday afternoon and every time I see Charlie's name on the screen it makes my stomach churn.

"Nick? Is that you?" my mom called from the kitchen.

"Yes," I yelled.

"I have an email for you." I answered and got up from the sofa.I staggered to the kitchen and saw a brown envelope on the table with my name on it and no address on it.

This is Charlie's handwriting.

My stomach churned more violently than ever. "My God," I said.

"What's the matter?" Mom sat down with two cups of tea and looked at me expectantly.

"It's from Charlie." Mom opened her mouth in surprise.We all stare at the envelope. "Then open it quickly!" I did as I did.

Inside the envelope was a photograph—the kind taken with a disposable camera.I immediately realized that I had taken this picture, and I even remember the moment I decided to take it, when I went back to my room with a glass of water, and found Charlie curled up on my bed, asleep, with the orange light of the street lamp shining on on him.I suddenly feel that if I am going to die next moment, I hope this is the last scene I see before I die.

I turned the photo over, and on the back was Charlie's handwriting.

Hey.You took a lot of pictures of me, do you have a crush on me?Ahhh so embarrassing.Anyway, if you want to talk to me, I'll be at the summer fun at Truham Elementary School tomorrow (Tuesday) at 3pm...
