Xingyu Street

Chapter 11

When Duan Xuyan heard Mo Xiaoyu say that he would buy him an apple, his heart seemed to be filled with the softest feather in the world in an instant.

It was a very fresh and novel feeling that he had never experienced before, and he couldn't tell whether it was more surprising or more pleasant.

He thought that Mo Xiaoyu wanted to eat apples himself, but it turned out not, he bought them for him.

Duan Xuyan quietly watched Mo Xiaoyu who left with two big apples in his arms, walked to the uncle's booth, and said, "Master, help me pack a bag of apples."

At the checkout, he gave fifty, and turned and left before the uncle gave him the change.

Mo Xiaoyu was obviously very happy when he bought the apples, even his back looked refreshed, he didn't walk well when he crossed the overpass and went down the steps, he had to jump down.

Duan Xuyan followed him with a bag of apples, and walked with him for nearly three hours. When passing by two small parks, Mo Xiaoyu played on the slide in the empty park. He wanted to play Seesaw, but he was alone, no one could play with him, he sat for a while and then continued walking.

It wasn't until he saw Xingyu Ancient Town that Duan Xuyan realized that Mo Xiaoyu had walked back to Xingyu Ancient Town unknowingly. This was a route he planned in advance, and he came back here after a long detour.

Duan Xuyan watched Mo Xiaoyu walk towards Xingyu Street under the shade of greenery, while he went back to the B&B with the apples he bought.

The old lady was cooking, and she burned the ribs at noon, and Duan Xuyan could smell the aroma of the ribs from a long distance away.

Duan Xuyan greeted her and packed his noon meal in a box.

The old lady had a lot of used lunch boxes at home, and after cleaning some of them, she filled a box full of roast pork ribs for Duan Xuyan, as well as scrambled eggs with tomato and Kung Pao chicken.

Duan Xuyan left all the apples and walked towards Xingyu Street with the packed lunch.

After walking up the long stairs, Duan Xuyan saw a silver-haired old lady wearing a taupe vest standing outside Mo Xiaoyu's house.

Mo Xiaoyu might be in the house, the courtyard door is closed, and the silver-haired old lady is standing outside calling him, "Xiaoyu—Xiaoyu—"

After a while, Mo Xiaoyu trotted out from the inside, his face was still dripping with water, holding an apple in his hand, and shouted: "Grandma Ying."

The silver-haired old lady gave him the bag in her hand, "Eat well, Grandma Ying will come back tomorrow."

Mo Xiaoyu took the bag obediently, handed out the apple in his hand, and then took out a few coins from his pocket and handed it out, "Thank you, Grandma Ying."

The silver-haired old lady whom Mo Xiaoyu called Grandma Ying was surprised when she got the apple, "Who gave this to you?"

"Xiao Yu buy!"

The silver-haired old lady shook her head and returned the apple to him, "Grandma won't eat it, Xiao Yu will keep it."

After speaking, she turned around and walked outside Xingyu Street. From the way she walked, it could be seen that her legs and feet were not very good, and one leg was lame.

Mo Xiaoyu was holding an apple in one hand and a bag in the other, watching Grandma Ying go far away, turning around and wanting to go back to the house.

Duan Xuyan called him, "Xiao Yu."

When Mo Xiaoyu heard the voice, he turned his head and saw that it was Duan Xuyan, but he didn't show a happy expression, and he didn't call him Xuyan as happily as in the morning.

Duan Xuyan walked outside the gate of the courtyard, and was taken aback when he saw his expression. Why did he feel that Mo Xiaoyu was a little...unhappy?

"Light rain?"

"Xuyan said to wait for me." Mo Xiaoyu frowned slightly as he said, "Xuyan didn't wait!"

Duan Xuyan thought for a while before he remembered that before Mo Xiaoyu went out to pick up the bottle in the morning, he said he would wait for him here.

Mo Xiaoyu went home with Apple in his arms, maybe he thought he would see him here on the way, but he waited for a long time and Duan Xuyan didn't show up.

Mo Xiaoyu couldn't understand the meaning of what he said, maybe he would come again, he only knew that Duan Xuyan's words were nothing, and that he didn't wait for what he said was a lie, he was lying.

He was a little angry, so angry that Apple didn't even want to give it to Duan Xuyan.

Duan Xuyan explained: "A grandma made roast ribs for Xiao Yu, I went to pick them up, you see."

Duan Xuyan said as he raised the four-layer lunch box in his hand.

Mo Xiaoyu was silent for a moment, tilted his head slightly, looked at the lunch box in Duan Xuyan's hand, "Grandma? Burn ribs?"

Duan Xuyan nodded, and said softly: "Well, I was waiting for you here, I just went to get something."

Mo Xiaoyu seemed to accept his explanation, and slowly loosened his frowning.

Duan Xuyan smiled, "Xiaoyu, can I come in now?"

Mo Xiaoyu nodded, and Duan Xuyan walked in.

When both of them sat on the small bench, Mo Xiaoyu gave Duan Xuyan the apple that was not given just now like a treasure, and then found another big apple and gave it to Duan Xuyan as well.

Duan Xuyan was particularly supportive, "Wow!"

Mo Xiaoyu was so happy that her face flushed slightly, "Big Apple!"

Duan Xuyan looked at him and asked, "Won't Xiao Yu keep one for herself?"

Mo Xiaoyu shook her head, "To Xu Yan."

"Why do you want to give Xu Yan?"

Mo Xiaoyu tilted his head, as if he didn't understand why Duan Xuyan asked such a question, but he still replied, "Because Xuyan is good to Xiaoyu."

After finishing speaking, he didn't care about Duan Xuyan's reaction, turned around to face the coffee table, and opened the bag that Grandma Ying gave him.

This bag looks like a medium-sized bag from the supermarket. It should be because it has been used many times. The bag is crumpled. There are two old-fashioned lunch boxes in the 80s, three boiled eggs, and a small plastic bag. Small pickles.

Duan Xuyan frowned when he saw the boiled eggs.

Mo Xiaoyu opened one of the lunch boxes, and it was full of white rice, which was still warm.

Duan Xuyan looked at it for a while, then pointed to another lunch box and asked him, "Xiao Yu, what's in it?"

Mo Xiaoyu hummed, "Food."

"Both boxes are rice?"

Mo Xiaoyu nodded.

Duan Xuyan finally knew where the leftover rice he ate came from. It turned out that Grandma Ying brought it at noon, and it would be cold if eaten at night.
