I love you, I won't kill you
Chapter 354 Jane Without a Driver's License
After leaving Interstate 95 and driving east on Russell Road for less than a mile, Janice noticed that the two lanes on the right seemed a little different from the rest.
"Is this the Quantico base? Well, why are there traffic warning cones on the lane dividing line?" Janice asked herself, driving the car into a traffic stream to be inspected.
After a few minutes of waiting, Janice parked her car outside the checkpoint.A male military police sergeant bent over her, and Janice lowered the window, smiling.
"Ma'am, please show your driver's license!" the sergeant said calmly.
"Hi, soldier, how are you?" Janice pulled out her wallet and handed out her driver's license.
"Ma'am, I'm a sergeant. Please wait." After the sergeant finished speaking, he walked into the room behind him with his driver's license.
"Excuse me, what's the matter with you coming to Quantico?" the sergeant asked calmly as he came out of the room and returned his driver's license to her.
"Uh, okay, I don't know. Well, do you have a girl named Amanda McLaren here?"
"Okay, please wait a few more minutes."
Janice's answer made people laugh and cry, but she occupied the passage and couldn't drive away for a long time. The car behind was waiting, and finally someone couldn't help but honked the car horn.
"Here you are!" Janice cursed secretly, stretched out her left hand out of the car window, and made a middle finger.
"Ma'am, there is indeed someone you are looking for here."
"Hmm, I have something to talk to her about. Well, this place looks quite big. Is there any coffee shop nearby?"
"There's a Starbucks a mile ahead of the checkpoint where you can wait for the person you're looking for."
"Starbucks? Well, tell that Amanda, I'll wait for her at Starbucks."
As she was about to drive away from the checkpoint, the sergeant said, "Ma'am, you'd better come into the base with us."
Janice blinked. "That's funny, why?"
The sergeant said very seriously, "This is the military base of the US Marine Corps, not a community college."
....................
Amanda asked the prospective corporal as she walked out, "You don't even know the purpose of this person coming to the base? What if this person is a potential terrorist?"
The quasi-corporal looked at her nervously, "Sir, this girl's driver's license information shows that she lives on North 30th Street in Arlington County..."
And the last sentence he said, "The people who live there are all big shots in Washington, DC", was so frightened by Amanda's serious face that he swallowed it back.
"Corporal, does what you say have anything to do with my question?"
"I'm sorry, sir. Well, this man is on our watch right now, at the coffee shop near the checkpoint."
"Okay, I see, drive me there."
Amanda had already figured out who this girl was when she got into the Hummer military vehicle. It's just that she didn't know why Janice came to her work place.
Minutes later, two military Humvees left the Starbucks outside the Quantico military store.Amanda glanced at Janice who was sitting behind the glass window, shook her head and walked in.
"Hi, here." Janice smiled, waving at her.
"Janice Balfour, what are you doing here?" Amanda asked as she walked across the table and sat down, taking off her patrol hat.
"Um, dunno. I'm taking Route 95 home, and I'm here by the way," Janice said.
Amanda didn't know what to say, looked out the window at the parking lot, "Tell me, what's the matter?"
Janice sipped the iced white chocolate mocha in her cup through a straw, then said slowly, "I think you still owe me something."
"I owe you something? What is it?"
"Apologize. Well, just apologise!"
Recalling what happened at her mother's house on the 9th, Amanda felt as if she hadn't done anything wrong to Janice.Somewhat strangely, "Apologize? What do you mean?"
Janice pushed the glass away and leaned back in the chair, "Please, you forgot so soon?"
Then, he said, "If you didn't hit me on the neck, how could I faint on the bed?"
Amanda smiled slightly, "That's right. But, Grace told you, right?"
"She said it. So, what do you know?" Janice asked.
"Nothing. Now, I formally apologize to you. Is there anything else?" Amanda finished and stood up.
"Nonsense! Amanda, where are you going?"
"I'm going back to work. I came out after asking for leave."
Janice wanted to know why Amanda did that, and quickly said, "Please, just a few minutes."
Amanda had to sit back down and said slowly, "I'm sorry. In that particular situation, it was the only way I could calm 'Debbie' down."
"What special situation? Amanda, can you tell me?"
"I don't think you need to know those things."
Janice laughed at herself, "It seems that you already know about my DID?"
After a few seconds of silence, Amanda said, "Yes, but I think this disease can be cured."
"Cure? Funny, you want to put me in a mental hospital too?"
"No! Janice, you better calm down. I...I don't want to stress you out."
"Stress? What pressure do I have?" Janice's mood fluctuated.
"It's okay, everything will be fine." Amanda was a little afraid to continue, she was worried that Janice's split personality would jump out of her body if she didn't pay attention.
However, Janice had lowered her head and closed her eyes by this time. When she opened her eyes again, she stared at Amanda who was sitting across from her, "Me, where am I?"
"God! How did you jump out so quickly? Who is this?" Amanda thought about it, and said softly, "Don't be afraid, we're chatting at the Starbucks coffee shop."
"Oh. Uh, who are you?" Janice's split personality asked hastily.
"Well, I'm Amanda, your friend." Amanda said slowly.
"Oh, I'm Jane. But, why don't I remember you?" Janice's third split personality - "Jane" just appeared at an inappropriate time and place.
"Jane, so, do you remember how you got here?" Amanda asked.
"I...I don't know. Do you know?" Jane's eyes widened in horror.
"Well, yes. I was working and you drove to find me."
"What? God, I'm only 13 this year, how can I have a driver's license?"
Amanda pushed the cup in front of her, "Take it easy, have some coffee first."
Jane stared at her suspiciously, "Is it good? I like to drink vanilla flavor."
"Okay, wait a minute, I'll buy you an iced vanilla latte."
"Cool, iced vanilla latte! Go, go."
"Grace, it's me. I thought you'd better come to Quantico, Jane showed up." Amanda walked and talked on the phone.
"What? God, I'll be right over." Grace said eagerly.
Now, Amanda can only call the faculty to apply for an extension of leave.Although the instructor agreed to her request, the price she paid was to sacrifice the shooting training course and add an additional 10 miles of weighted running.
After taking a sip of the iced vanilla latte, Jane said happily, "Well, I like the taste. Amanda, why don't you drink it?"
Amanda shook her head, "Jane, it's my work time now."
"Working hours? Funny, you work in a coffee shop in an army uniform?"
"Of course not. I asked for leave because you wanted to see me."
Jane giggled, "Amanda, you're so cute. Sacrifice your working hours to get to my date."
Amanda said smoothly, "Yeah, I have to sacrifice a lot of things today."
"why?"
"Well, I'm going to wait for your mother to pick you up before I can go back to work."
"No, I'm not going home. I came to chat with you in a car without a driver's license, and she will definitely put me in a small dark room." Jane said stubbornly.
"I promise she won't. Trust me, Jane!" Amanda replied seriously.
