[Twilight] Give me sunshine
Chapter 14
It was a week before Bella and Edward returned, and she was even more anxious. Since she had mentioned to Caius on the wedding day that he should stay, he really seemed to have no intention of leaving.Time seemed to go back to the first time he came to Forks, he always stayed by her side and accompanied her to do everything, looking adapted and peaceful.
Their relationship has just begun, and Joan doesn't have the confidence to let Caius abandon the Volturi principles and regulations for thousands of years for her, and she can't guarantee that Caius will let Bei go because of her emotions. La and Renee Smee.If their endings were a little different because of Caius, she would not know how to face Edward, the Cullen family, and even less how to face Caius.
Since they graduated from the small town's high school, they haven't done anything else. Everyone seems to have stayed in Fox for too long. Carlisle had already planned to move, but the final move was after Bella changed.
Joan knew that it would be impossible to really get rid of Caius when moving, and the only way to stay away from him was to let him leave by himself. She thought for three days, but still couldn't think of any excuse to ask him to leave immediately after she had just asked him to stay. If Caius returned in doubt, everything would just go back to the original point.
Caius might have noticed her trance early on, and he had been puzzled from the first day she became evasive from him.Joan tried to calm herself but couldn't help shaking, and she stood in front of the disc cabinet, trying to pick out a piece of music that would calm her down.
Suddenly hearing the sound of the door opening from behind, Joan was startled, and the disc in her hand fell to the ground with a 'snap', breaking through a network of cracks.Alice closed the door and approached, and gently helped her pick up the disc, but instead of returning it to her, put it back in the cabinet.
Caius would go hunting every two afternoons, and every time he came back, he would pass by the window in front of her desk.Alice took Joan to the window and sat down, glanced out of the window, then turned to look at her worriedly.
Joan knew that Alice had felt something. These three days, she was thinking and waiting for Alice, waiting for Alice to see Bella's future.
Alice told her that Bella might be pregnant, and the two had a tacit understanding with each other, and no one knew Joan's current plight better than her.
"If you just let him go..."
"He won't leave." Joan shook her head and sighed, "If there is no reason, he will come back even if he leaves."
"Then let's give him a reason."
"What reason can we give him?"
She even thought that if she could go back to Volturi with him, Caius would not hesitate to leave. But she knew that, from Bella's pregnancy, the werewolves and the Karen family's conflicts, to the confrontation between Renesme and the Volturi, Bella needed her to stay, everything, she couldn't do it for Kaie. And so he left his family behind.
These days she avoided Caius, on the one hand because she didn't know how to explain to him, and she couldn't tell him the truth, and on the other hand, she didn't hesitate to choose between Caius and her family, no matter what. Whether it's guilt or worry, it makes her uneasy.
"Alice, how much time do we have?"
"I planned to call today to confirm, but I thought of Caius." Alice looked at her worriedly, "I want to talk to you first, and ask them tomorrow."
"Even if I didn't remind, Bella should know soon, and it shouldn't take more than three days to come back."
Joan was speechless. After a long silence, she said, "I know that only I can let him go. Before they come back, I will let Caius go."
"There's a reason, maybe he can take it."
"Joan..."
She nodded to Alice, turned and went downstairs, walking very slowly and softly, step by step.Alice looked out of the window as Joan walked up the hill.
There was indeed a gap between her and Caius, which she tried to ignore, and Caius also quietly covered up.But no matter how they avoid it, it is always a problem they have to face, if not now.No one can compromise and no one can change.
Caius took into account the position of the Cullen family when hunting, and would try to stay away from Fox as much as possible. In fact, she didn't know where Caius would go. She walked very slowly, like a human being. It took three hours at most to get to the side of the road in the town, and walked along the deserted forest. She didn't seem to care whether she could Find Caius. It looked more like a walk with thoughts than looking for someone.
She wanted to see Caius, but she hoped not to see him.But she knew that even if she couldn't find him, he would definitely find herself.Walking around the foot of the mountain, I don't know how long it took. It seemed that it was approaching from day to night. Finally, she smelled the bloody smell of human beings and saw the figure of Caius in the distance of the little fire.
She looked at the camping tents in the distance, the smoke from the bonfire, and the collapsed human beings, and she didn't know whether to be grateful or sad.Everything seemed as close as she wanted it to be, human, hungry, bloody. If she could get ten steps closer, she might be able to see Caius.
She froze in place, just watching, without moving a step, silently waiting for Caius.Caius seemed to be able to feel her coming in the tent. After a long time, when he walked out of the tent, he had tidied himself up. There was not a drop of blood on his body, and there was no blood left on the corner of his mouth.
He wanted to walk towards her, but after taking a step, he was blocked by a fallen human being under his feet.
Joan shook her head at him, the expression on her face unclear. She hid herself in the darkness, refusing to approach or walk past.
Caius faintly sensed Joan's strangeness and stopped in his tracks.
The two of them stared at each other silently across the bonfire with the humans. In the end, Joan sighed in compromise and said softly, "Caius..."
"You know, after turning into a vampire, what's the happiest thing I've ever done?"
Without waiting for Caius to respond, she continued on her own: "I am most fortunate that the person who saved me was Carlisle."
"Do you know why?"
Joan approached step by step, bypassing the humans, and stopped in front of Caius, looking down at the bonfire, biting her lip.
"I know that it is the nature of vampires to drink blood. No group can stop and force a vampire to stop killing."
"But every vampire is different."
"Since I am willing to stay in the Karen family, it explains my choice."
"We planted this thorn from the beginning."
Joan looked up into his eyes, and said in a trembling voice, "Caius, I have no way and I don't want to force you to change your life and separate you from the Volturi."
"You can't change for me, and I'm not willing to make concessions, sorry."
"Maybe before, I shouldn't have said to you the words that made you ambiguous and changed our relationship."
Caius already knew what she wanted to say, he panicked for the first time, he took two steps closer, trying to hold her hand, "Joan..."
Joan let go of his hand, pursed her lips, and responded softly, "The Volturi and I were never meant to be, and neither are you and me."
"..."
