Chapter 14

When Sid opened his eyes again, the surroundings were no longer a dark and cold field, but a pure white and warm ward.He smelled Stark's unique atmosphere from the technology-oriented post-modern decoration style, and slowly sat up with his body propped up.

"Sir, how do you feel?" Jarvis's voice sounded.

I don't know if it's an illusion, but Sid always felt that he heard the concern from the electronic sound, just like the concern he heard from the water flow and stones in the cave. Then he shook his head amusedly, thinking that he was really stupid for comparing the two—after all, Jarvis was created by Tony, so there will always be emotions brought about by personal settings; as for the water and stones?how can that be possible?

"It's okay," Sid replied. When he wanted to touch the back of his head, he found a glucose water syringe stuck in the back of his hand. He pulled it out and moved his neck. "I feel better."

"You should lie down for a while." The electronic butler said disapprovingly.

Sid looked up slightly. "Is there something wrong with my body? Other than prostration?"

Jarvis was silent, and Sid immediately sniffed something out of the pause. "Hey, Jarvis," he said disapprovingly, "I have a right to know how my own health is, even if Tony..."

"What about me?"

Following the sound, the translucent glass door of the ward slid open without a sound.Tony himself was standing right there, staring at Sid on the bed.

"Tony..." Sid froze for a moment.

His memory has returned, and he remembers that he saw the other person before he lost consciousness; if it weren't for the visor that got in the way, he probably would have had a very good opportunity-to point out that there was no way Tony would leave him.

But this cannot be said.Because it required a one-hit kill back then, and Tony would certainly deny it now; and, it was never a good idea to force Tony to admit it, his dear brother would take it easy.

Tony walked in slowly and the door closed behind him. "Don't you think, now you owe me a second explanation?" Of course he wasn't wearing armor now, so the black face and hands behind his back made it look like he was in anger.

"I..." Hide paused, and when he spoke again, his voice had returned to his normal state: "I'm going to see the underground river, Pepper should have told you...if she brought you here."

Tony snorted noncommittally. "Then I think she also told you that our company doesn't need the river urgently." At least not so urgently that it would cost Sid's life.

Sid blinked, trying to figure out what Tony meant. Then he felt that, whatever the case, he should address another question: "How is Williams?"

"You still have time to care about others?" Tony was almost furious. But at least he remembered to hide his emotions a little bit, so he snorted again: "I'm afraid the situation is not good. He doesn't remember the agreement between you, if you ever had one."

"... Concussion?" Sid immediately guessed the correct answer. "His memory..."

"He doesn't know anyone anymore," Tony replied dryly, refusing to admit that he deduced Sid when he knew this, and broke out in a cold sweat instantly. When Jarvis had just informed him that Sid was awake and looking normal, he was so excited that he almost smashed his foot with the screwdriver in his hand.

Sid was silent for a moment. "Then, the river..."

"Oh, you don't have to think about that river anymore." Tony wanted to spread his hands, but remembered that he put his hands behind his back to prevent Sid from seeing the oil on them, so he endured it: "I suppressed this matter .Believe me, being public isn’t going to do the stock any good if shareholders know you were nearly buried alive again.”

Sid wanted to say that it was the best joke of the century that Tony cared about the company's stock; but when he heard the latter sentence, his eyes changed instantly. "you mean……"

"I mean, this is the end of the matter." Tony nodded, as if he was very satisfied with his decision. "It's also best not to mention that you went to that place to anyone."

Sid pursed his lips. What this means is that he has never been to a cave, so the following things naturally never happened.

Why do it so thoroughly? What the hell did he do?Just because Tony cared about him?

"Why, do you have an opinion?" Tony narrowed his eyes slightly.

Whenever he made that look, Sid knew it was never okay to say "yes"—although Tony probably didn't even notice it. "No," he denied, hoping that his suspicion had not been caught by Tony, "so we can't do anything about that river, can we?" If he wants to develop energy sources, it is more or less likely that he will be discovered .

"That's right." Tony was finally a little satisfied because of Sid's cooperation.

"So," Sid pushed the question to his mind for a moment, and asked another question: "What happened to the landslide?" Especially why he didn't get into the landslide and Williams got hit on the head?

"Surface shaking," Tony gets angry when he mentions it, "maybe you won't believe it," he shrugged, "but the fact is that a hammer fell from the sky, and now the guys at S.H.I.E.L.D. have treasured it surrounded."

"...Hammer?" Sid was stunned. Why does that sound more outlandish than him seeing an Aztec ruin underground that shouldn't exist?

"That's right, it looks ordinary, but it's a hammer that no one can pick up." Tony reaffirmed, explaining the reason why S.H.I.E.L.D. Did anything happen down there?"

Sid felt that there were a lot of weird things recently, but thinking about Spiderman or something, he calmed down again. "No," he replied, automatically avoiding the suspicious green light, "I just walked along the bank of the underground river... I kept walking, and finally found the exit."

Tony frowned. This kind of answer that avoids the important and ignores the light, can you think he can't hear it?

But Sid had made up his mind not to speak.

Think about it, is he going to make a fuss with Tony, and he has overcome a lot of hardships to get his life back? That Tony must be worried. And then again, he didn't think it would be such a wonderful experience to encounter a strange voice from nowhere, claiming that he was going to rule the universe. And 3000 years, 5000 years, and that blow that didn't leave a physical trace...

There must be a deeper reason behind them!

"Well, I won't ask," Tony finally conceded, "I don't mind if I don't know, as long as you are such a clamshell mouth that cannot be pried open to anyone."

Sid blinked.Wasn't that a joke, who else could he tell but Tony?

His expression said it clearly, Tony finally felt a little pleasure in waiting these days.See, no matter what, he's number one in Sid's mind.Although it seemed nasty to think so compared to the previous refusal, he was really happy about it.

Sid carefully read the look on his brother's face. "Then can I know what's wrong with my body now?" It was definitely because of Tony's order that Jarvis didn't tell him!

"Since you're just walking on the river bank, it's just a simple exhaustion." Tony replied quickly this time, not without cunning.

Sid was suddenly angry and funny.Sure enough, there is no need to ever hope to win Tony over the mouth! "Okay then," he said in a resigned tone, "I'm a little sleepy...can you stay with me until I fall asleep?"

Tony felt his inner struggle. To tell the truth, of course he would; but he didn't know if it was appropriate, especially since Sid had only confessed to him a short while ago, and he couldn't deliberately foster that kind of feeling.

"Come on, Tony, it's only ten minutes." Sid said softly.

That look and voice made Tony think of Sid when he was a child.

At that time, they were still a simple brotherhood, not to mention rolling on the same bed, even taking a bath naked together.Whenever Sid asked him to rub his back or some other small favor, he could never say no...

Now it's even more impossible.Ever since Sid entered Empire High School in New York, he had never seen that helpless expression on that face again. What's more, he is still...

"Okay, you said 10 minutes." Tony finally decided to give in to his inner desire for the time being. He went to the bed, pulled up a chair and sat down, then looked at his watch. "You know I'll be counting down."

Sid laughed and lay back obediently. In the process, he noticed that Tony's bent fingers were covered in black oil. What was his brother doing when he was unconscious? He was a little puzzled, but he didn't want to spoil the atmosphere by saying it. "I'm talking about falling asleep," he bargained deliberately, "you're so smart, you must be able to figure out if I'm really asleep, right?"

"Nine and a half minutes," Tony answered grimly.

"Okay, okay," Sid closed his eyes helplessly, "I see." But what he thought in his heart was that he should retreat because...

You can't say no to me forever, Tony.

Sid's breathing quickly became long and even.Tony stared at the other person's peaceful face from deep sleep, and lightly touched the back of Sid's hand with the back of his hand.

He must not let anyone know that Sid walked through a maze-like cave that was [-] kilometers away from the entrance (or a straight-line distance) in five hours, and even dragged another person; It's impossible, he now understands what Howard asked him to take care of Sid——

If no one protects Sid, then Sid can only be sent to the laboratory for research——

And he absolutely, yes, no, will, let this kind of thing happen!

Tony closed his eyes, stood up firmly and left.Nothing compares to Sid's own safety, not even if they like each other!
