Chapter 38
Things are at a standstill. As Hermione and I were very considerate of each other - maybe a little too much of each other - things were off at dinner.
Sirius, unaffected by us, raved about how well Harry's steak was cooked until his ears turned red into a cluster of burning flames.
He and Harry became the mainstay of conversation at the dinner table, Sirius recalling the life of playing with Harry's father, Harry's eyes glowing, listening to every detail with fascination.
Without a clear explanation, Ron was always slicing his steak viciously while eating, making the exquisite porcelain plate of Black's house squeaky.
To be honest, I don't know what the hell he was mad about... Harry's reaction was very peaceful if he just kept something from them.
Hermione and I ate the whole time, barely making eye contact. She ate a lot of salad and cherry tomatoes, and I drank more cream of mushroom soup.
After dinner, Hermione and I were taken directly to Harry's room. The room had been remodeled in such a way that it no longer looked like the Blake family: the curtains had been changed to a beautiful golden yellow, the carpet was also a fluffy scarlet color, and there were messy ornaments and socks above the bedside table and wardrobe.
After Hermione and I met and had a little quiet meeting, we both decided to tell the boys about it.So I told them the whole story, and Harry found the photo in the nightstand drawer.
"So, you suspect that this Jason Armstrong is very likely to be a wizard?" Harry asked, frowning, staring at the photo between us.
It shows me sipping grape juice, looking up at Jason; he talks to me, then sits down next to me, and from the perspective of the camera, we're close together.
The four of us sat on his bed in a circle, and I hugged the pillow and hid my face: "Yes, but we can't figure out why he did this, is it just to get revenge on me?"
"It's hard for us to imagine his purpose. I mean, even the most effective love potion will wear off after 24 hours." Hermione was holding a thick copy of "Power Potion" (Ron shouted: " Why haven't you returned the book yet?"), turning to the Love Potions page and saying, "If you're not constantly drugging Kelly, how can you keep her liking him forever?"
My face crumpled, disgusting as if I had eaten a sour lollipop: "I think he just wants to see me make a fool of myself in public."
"Even if he's a wizard in America anyway," said Ron, "then he can't come to Hogwarts during school hours."
"You just need to be more careful about the recent unknown package, if he has a plan for the next step." Hermione made a final decision and snapped the book shut.
"Okay. Then I will start from the beginning of school. Not only do I have to be careful of mice that come from nowhere, but I also have to be careful of every package I receive." I sighed and threw myself hard on the bed. The soft mattress supported me. It bounced around my waist.
Harry took a breath, pulled a blanket and threw it on me, he was not in a very high mood: "I still believe in Sirius, it is not so easy for Pedilou to sneak into Hogwarts, let alone he asked Let Dumbledore take care of us - although he is busy, he may not be able to look at us more."
"Dumbledore? He just said 'an old friend'." Hermione corrected.
"Who else is still in school who can be old friends with Sirius?" Ron pretended to think, "Snape?"
Then he received indescribable looks from the three of us.
"Did you know? Percy finally got his chairman's badge." Ron changed the subject disdainfully. "He talked about the whole summer vacation. When I was in Egypt, I even wanted to put him in a coffin for an exhibition." .”
We all laughed, and I could totally imagine Percy introducing himself to the others with a serious face. "What courses did you choose in the third grade?" I sat up suddenly and asked enthusiastically.
"Well, I may have chosen a bit too much." Hermione thought for a while, "Astronomical divination, protection of magical animals, divination, ancient runes, Muggle studies—"
"That's not a lot, girl." My eyes widened. "No wonder your textbook bag is so heavy—"
"I guess sleep and rest have been canceled from your study schedule." Ron said with a smirk, and Harry nodded while suppressing a smile.
When we found that the scenery outside the window had become nightfall, I almost jumped up in fright: "It's over! It's so late, I said I'll go home after dinner."
Hermione also started packing things in a hurry. Her family had been driving downstairs for a long time, but Muggles couldn't see the building, so they could only honk their horns in vain.
"I'll sleep here tonight." Ron and Harry looked at each other and said with a smile. So we said goodbye to them and went home together in Hermione's car.
The next morning, I wrote a letter to Aunt Wendy with a candy quill in my mouth. I tried to write the text as gently as possible, without showing anger or questioning tone.
But I still really care if Aunt Wendy knows the true face of the Armstrong family! What if she was cheated?A person with such a heavy heart like Jason must have been influenced by his family, maybe their family has some secrets that are unknown...
Looking at the back of Claudia flying away, I leaned against the window sill with my face up, and carefully recalled the details of the whole thing in my mind, until a small stone hit my head.
"Ouch!" I wailed, clutching my forehead, looked down, and found that it was Ed, who was leaning against the bushes with his pockets in his pocket, and when he saw me looking over, he waved to me, and then lost his weight Planted in the grass.
Hiss - I couldn't help but gasped, stepped on the pipe while holding on to the window frame, quickly slid down from the bedroom window on the second floor, and ran towards him quickly: "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine! It's fine!" He crawled out of the bushes in a panic, his brown hair stuck to many twigs and leaves.
I want to help him pat his hair, but for some reason, the things I used to do are a bit awkward now, and I always feel... weird. After withdrawing my hand, I stared blankly at my palm and didn't approach him again.
"I want to come over and talk to you about something." Ed said to me with a smile while arranging his hair, "We traveled to Scotland this summer, and I wanted to find out about your boarding school... but I asked Some of the locals, they don't even know."
My heart tightened, and I looked at him in surprise.
"Later, I thought, it might be in other small towns." He lowered his head regretfully, "How many more years do you have to study?"
"Uh..." I touched my other arm in embarrassment, "About... four years?"
"It's still so long... so are you planning to go to college?" Ed looked at me persistently, making me a little at a loss.
"I don't know, maybe, maybe not." I pretended to be impatient and changed the subject, "What's new recently?"
"Someone asked me if I wanted to hang out." He twitched the corner of his mouth and stared into my eyes. "It's a girl."
I froze for a moment, looked at him calmly, and said with a smile, "That's really good! Why didn't you promise her?"
"Do you think I should agree?" He asked unwillingly. "Of course!" I replied without hesitation, some things should be cut with scissors from the moment I realized it.
Ed's eyes were a little hurt, but I still stubbornly looked directly into his eyes. I can't back down at this moment, and I can't mess up our relationship too much.
"Okay." He shrugged with feigned ease, "I guess you're right..." He then changed the subject, "I remember the man's name, Harry, right?"
This time I was really caught off guard, and I froze in place. My mind went blank, and the Hogwarts train in my chest kept whining, and then kept making a line around my heart.
"...Who?" I asked back weakly, confused, "That girl's name is 'Harry'?"
"It's nothing." Ed smiled smugly, his eyes narrowed into two slits, and I could see his big teeth, "it's nothing, then I'll go first—"
There is a little flower in my heart, under constant watering, it gradually breaks through the soil and reveals its branches. That branch likes to twitter and sway, and then keeps shouting in my ear——
"My name is Harry! It's Harry! Harry! Leigh! . . . "
What the hell.I hit my chest hard, and it hit right on the sore and swollen place, which made me grin my teeth in pain.
"Kelly! Wendy sent something, and your gift." Mom stretched her neck from the kitchen window and shouted.
Aunt Wendy? But my letter has only just been posted, and Claudia can't be here so soon.Doubtful, I return to the kitchen to find some exotic wizard sweets spread out on the table.
Mom peeled off a pack of soft cheese sticks and stuffed them into my mouth, and I opened the note from Aunt Wendy with half a stick of cheese in my mouth.
Dear Kelly,
My little niece has finally grown up to be an attractive teenager, stronger than your mother ever was.
Not much to say, Jason downstairs asked me to deliver these candies. He also asked me for your home contact information and address. I decided to ask you first before making a decision.
Please reply early!
Dear Aunt Wendy.
Ugh——I immediately spit out the cheese sticks in my mouth, threw the note down, rushed to the toilet and began to scratch my throat: "Don't eat those candies—"
I threw up so badly that I threw up my breakfast too.My mother stood outside the toilet and looked at me dumbfounded: "Don't you like cheese sticks?"
Sirius, unaffected by us, raved about how well Harry's steak was cooked until his ears turned red into a cluster of burning flames.
