Mage's Secret

Chapter 21

When Traphael returned to the study, Murphy was browsing the classics neatly stacked on the bookshelf by his bookshelf. His slender fingers ran across the thick spine of the books randomly, but did not stop for any book. When he heard the sound of the door opening, he turned his head and said with a smile, "You are really slow."

Traphael walked up to him, with a tense expression, tilted his staff slightly in his direction, and whispered, "What do you want to do to my student?"

"Don't be so nervous." Murphy smiled relaxedly, held onto the top of the staff that was almost touching his body, exerted a little force, and brought the staff back to a vertical angle, and said, "I won't hurt them .”

"But you bewitched them." Traphael pulled the staff out of Murphy's hand and leaned it straight beside him, without pointing it at the demon in front of him again.

"Bewitching them?" Murphy lowered his head and laughed. He put his hand on Traphael's shoulder, but it was quickly shaken off. He was not angry, but put his hand on it again, with a little Hold the mage's shoulders with all his strength. He felt the tightness of the muscles on the thin shoulders of his subordinates, and he was very happy with the warm touch from the mage's robe and the sense of guard revealed from the mage.He lowered his head, put his mouth close to Traphael's ear, and said, "I didn't do anything. I just stood there and they surrounded me. You can't even blame me for this."

The shoulders were held, and Traphael could only lean back as hard as he could. He was tired of the devil's frivolous movements when he had nothing to do.These similar provocative actions made him feel uncomfortable physically and mentally, he didn't like to be too intimate with people, even Elvis had never been so close to him.

He tried his best to suppress the nausea rising from the bottom of his heart, and said as calmly as possible: "Please stay away from my students."

Murphy let go of him and said in a low voice, "That's not okay."

Traphael took a small step back without any trace, he stared at the demon in front of him closely, and asked, "What exactly do you want to do?"

Murphy spread his hands, tilted his head and did not avoid Traphael's gaze, and said with a smile: "Don't be so nervous, just like what I said at the beginning, I won't hurt them. I won't be like The temple rumours, tearing their bodies apart, drinking their blood, and won't eat their souls and hearts. While it's true that there are a lot of militants among demons, I promise, I'm a pacifist. I'm just too boring I just want to do a little bit to make us both feel happy."

"You want to have fun with them, play with them?"

"Don't say that," Murphy laughed as if he heard some funny topic. He put his fist on his mouth, gradually restrained his smile and said, "You should have found out today, they are obviously very happy, Or rather, wish for it.”

Traphael said: "Even so, I can't let you get too close to them. In my opinion, they are just worms entangled by your spider silk. You will play with them in the palm of your hand." , causing their souls to suffer unceasingly, this is a great harm to them. And the more involved with them, the more likely they will be exposed, do you want to cause trouble for yourself?"

"Ha!" Murphy showed that evil smile again, and he leaned closer to Traphael's cheek again and said, "Finally, you have said what you are most worried about. You don't actually care how they will be treated by me , and it is impossible to care about me causing trouble for myself, what you are worried about is that I will cause trouble for you. All because you are afraid that I will be exposed, because if I am exposed, you will not be able to gain a foothold on this continent, I said Right? Hypocritical Mr. Healer."

Hearing Murphy's words, Traphael frowned slightly, but did not get angry. He finally reached out and put his fingertips on Murphy's shoulder, pushed him back a little, and said, "This is just your imagination. As their teacher, of course I have the responsibility to protect them." Although he said that But he also knew in his heart that although Murphy's words were full of subjective malice, they were not completely false, and he was not as noble as the outside world judged him.

Murphy smiled and followed the force of his fingertips back a little bit, but still stared at him closely: "Responsible? But you should also understand that they are not cubs waiting to be fed. Calculated by human lifespan, They're already adults."

Trafael said: "You are right, but this is not a reason for you to approach them. If you are really bored, you can do something else to distract your attention. For example, all my books here, You can read whatever you want."

Murphy lowered his head and smiled twice. He said, "Then should I be grateful to you? Teacher." He bit down on the pronunciation of the last "teacher", making his tone sound extremely mocking.

Trafael asked: "Do you have any dissatisfaction with my opinion?"

"Ha, you actually asked me that." Murphy said, "Of course I can't be satisfied. Don't forget that I'm not you. I'm not interested in what you're after—knowledge. It's too boring even as an occasional diversion."

"So what's your proposal--something other than having fun with my students."

"Is there a medium-sized human city near here?" Murphy asked.

Traphael narrowed his eyes, nodded slowly, and asked, "Do you want to go to the city?"

"Ah, that's right." Murphy said, smiling very heartily: "It's rare to come to the mainland once, and it would be nice to visit a human city."

Traphael thought for a moment, then replied: "Yes."

Murphy didn't expect him to answer so readily, and asked in a daze, "Do you agree?"

"That's right." Traphael said, "But I will find you a guide."

"It really is." Murphy showed an expression of sudden realization, but he seemed very interested in this proposal. He paced slowly beside Traphael and said, "Who are you going to let monitor me? Elway s?"

"How is it possible." Traphael replied blankly, "I will let Lunsha follow you."

"Lensha? Who is that?" Murphy was a little puzzled. He recalled the apprentices he had contacted in the morning, but he had no memory of the name.

"The girl who was farthest from you in the morning," Traphael said.

Lunsha is one of the few apprentices who are not surrounded by Murphy and Elvis. She is a female apprentice who has a strong desire for knowledge but is not interested in any living things. The person who admires Traphael the most outside of Sri Lanka.

Murphy tilted his head and recalled what happened in the morning, but he still couldn't remember what Lunsha looked like.He knew that Traphael would never give in when it came to guide candidates, but he didn't care too much, so he shrugged and said, "Okay."

Seeing that he had no objection to this, Traphael had a bad feeling instead, but Lunsha was already the best candidate he could think of, and besides Elvis, he was also the most assured apprentice. He looked at Murphy with probing eyes for a long time, then nodded and said, "Well, if you have no other opinions, this discussion on this matter will stop here. Let's continue the discussion from yesterday, shall we?"

"Okay," Murphy said.

The main way the two discussed was that Traphael first talked about some related fields in human magic, and then asked Murphy if there was a similar theory in the Devil's Realm, and then talked about some derivative magic based on this theory.

Traphael quickly recorded on the parchment with a quill pen dipped in ink, and sometimes walked to the bookshelf in the middle of Murphy's speech and took out a book to make some annotations on the book.He is very focused when doing things, he can hardly feel the passage of time, even sometimes Murphy stands behind him and watches him take notes, the two of them almost touch their cheeks, or Murphy leans closer to study the pattern on his collar No action was noticed.

Until a knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts.

He looked up at Murphy, and Murphy immediately stopped talking when the door knocked.

The door was knocked three more times, and then opened from the outside without waiting for a response from Traphael.

"Teacher, it's me." The voice of a young man who was in the stage of changing his voice came in through the crack of the door. The door was pulled open, and the figure of Elvis appeared in the sight of the two people in the room.

Seeing that Murphy was still in the study, Elvis frowned, then turned his gaze to Traphael, and asked, "Teacher, can I ask you for my question in the morning?" He finished speaking , as if he was sure that Traphael would agree with him, he closed the door and walked into the study.

Trafael replied as he expected, "Okay. Murphy, you go out first."

Only then did Elvis turn his attention back to Murphy.

Under the urging eyes of the two, Murphy smiled and said, "Then, I'll take my leave first. I hope you don't forget what we said before."

Knowing that he was talking about entering the city, Traphael nodded and said, "Don't worry, I will make arrangements soon."

Elvis was originally happy because Traphael drove Murphy out of the study because of his own problems, as if he had won over Murphy - in the teacher's heart, he really was more important .But hearing the conversation between the two, these slight smug emotions were immediately swept away. The teacher actually made an appointment with this guy who had only been here for a day, something he didn't even know about, and he immediately became unbalanced again.

He stared closely at Murphy walking past him, full of resentment.

Seeing that he was still staring at the direction of the door in a daze until Murphy had gone far, Traphael coughed to draw his attention back, and said, "Don't you have a question for me?"

"Ah, yes." Elvis came back to his senses, walked to Traphael and unfolded the bundle of scrolls he took out in the morning, and asked a question.

The question didn't really bother him, it was just a ploy to get Traphael's attention.Usually, even if he had acquired quite thorough knowledge, he would still listen carefully when the teacher he admired explained to him, but this time he was distracted.

Because now he has an uncomfortable question that he can't ignore no matter what, and he cares about it - what is the relationship between the teacher and this newcomer?
