[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind
Chapter 055 Finding Eleanor
So Avery decided to stay up at night to see where Tom had gone in the middle of the night. But to his disappointment, Tom did not leave the dormitory after curfew for two days in a row.
On the third day, Avery still saw nothing — except for a pair of dark circles.
"What's wrong with you?" Abraxas looked at Avery curiously from above the Daily Prophet, "You're listless, did you have a nightmare recently?"
Avery yawned, shook his head, and mechanically stuffed a fried egg into his mouth. He didn't tell Abraxas about his suspicions about Tom.
In the middle of the night of the third day, Avery finally couldn't control the strong drowsiness and fell asleep. After an unknown amount of time, he suddenly woke up from his sleep. Through the curtain, he saw that Tom's bed was empty. He was suddenly aware that Tom had left.
"Damn it!" Avery said a little angrily at himself. He got up from the bed only to see the snake that Tom kept under the bed devouring a mouse by the bed.
Feeling sick to his stomach, Avery stared down at the snake and whispered, "Where the hell is your master?"
The snake raised its head and looked at him contemptuously, then quickly got back under the bed.
"Okay, I'll go find him myself, right?" Avery said with a sigh.
He opened the door of the bedroom carefully, and there was no one outside. He hadn't left the common room after curfew, so he couldn't help being a little nervous.
He hoped that Tom would not go too far, but unfortunately he saw no one on the way. When he reached the first floor, he suddenly heard footsteps not far away.He quickly hid behind the tapestry next to him.
As the footsteps gradually approached, he saw fluorescent lights coming in through the gaps in the tapestry.
"...Yes, Professor Dumbledore," it was the administrator Pringle who spoke, "Mr. Martin of the school hospital already knew about it, and he said he would start preparations right away. But can he recover the child, sir?" ?”
"He will recover." Professor Dumbledore said solemnly.
"But what made him like that?" Pringle said nervously.
"I don't know." Dumbledore replied, and he sighed, "But we must tell the children about this, they have to be careful... You go back first, Apollyon, it's too dangerous outside. I need Go find the principal..."
Dumbledore's voice faded away.
What are they talking about?Something big happened, Avery thought. It sounded like someone had been attacked.
It sounds like today is not a good time for a night tour.
Just when he was seriously considering whether to go home, he suddenly heard a rustling sound from the other end of the corridor.
Through a gap in the tapestry, he saw a figure flashing from behind a statue, and then walking quickly in his direction.
The man didn't light his wand, but Avery still vaguely recognized him—it was Tom Riddle, no doubt.Avery held his breath as he watched Tom ascend the stairs to the second floor.
So Avery quickly followed from a distance.
Tom was going so fast that Avery almost thought he had lost track as he disappeared at the end of the stairs leading to the eighth floor, but he saw Tom right away.
Tom was pacing up and down in front of a blank wall.
What is he doing?Avery thought.
But Tom finally did nothing, but turned and strode towards Avery.Avery thought he had spotted him, and quickly hid.
Finally, Avery watched Tom go down the stairs and disappear into the darkness.Avery secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and then walked out of his hiding place.
He walked up to the wall, reached out and knocked on the cold and hard masonry. He began to imitate Tom, pacing back and forth in front of the wall, knocking on the wall from time to time, thinking about what was hidden here.
Just when he turned around for the third time, he was surprised to find a door suddenly appeared on the wall.
He hurriedly looked around subconsciously, and after making sure that no one noticed him, he carefully opened the door a little.
"Lumos," he muttered, lighting his wand, and walking through the door.
He stared in amazement at the huge room that appeared in front of him.
"What the hell is this place?" He looked at the debris piled up into a hill all around, and said softly.
When he turned a mountain of books, he was surprised to see a huge black bed in front of him.A figure was lying on that bed.
"Who's there?" he asked a little nervously.
But no one answered him.
He approached slowly with his wand raised, and the wand's light illuminated the man's face.
"Eleanor?" he exclaimed in surprise.
Then he noticed something was wrong with Eleanor. Her body remained motionless as if frozen, while staring at the ceiling in horror.
"Oh, no—" Avery hurried over, subconsciously reached out and grabbed Eleanor's hand. The touch like ice made Avery feel like his heart was about to freeze.
"Eleanor!" He called her name desperately, but she was as unresponsive as a statue.
She is obviously a ghost, what made her become like this?Avery was thinking in confusion, his mother's cold and pale face suddenly appeared in his mind, overlapping with Eleanor's face in front of him.
Everyone he cares about will leave him.The thought popped out of his mind suddenly.
"No." Avery shook his head violently, pushing that thought out of his mind.He lifted Eleanor's stiff form from the bed.The icy heat from her body penetrated Avery's skin clearly through the pajamas, and he felt like he was about to collapse.
"Let's go to the professor..." he whispered hoarsely, "they'll surely fix you."
At this moment, he suddenly heard a sound coming from behind.
He turned his head suddenly, only to find that Tom was standing behind him looking at him with a grim expression.
"How did you get in here?" said Tom coldly.
"It's none of your business." Avery said in a trembling voice, raising his wand sharply and pointing at Tom, "Stand back, Tom!"
"Put her down," commanded Tom, slowly raising his wand.
Instead of listening to him, Avery glared at him and said, "What the hell did you do to her, Tom?"
Tom didn't answer the question. He sneered, and glanced at Avery's hand tightly gripping his wand. "You can't beat me, Avery. You should know that very well."
"Disarm!" Avery yelled, but the spell was easily blocked by Tom.He chanted a spell at the mountain of books next to him, and the mountain of books immediately fell down with a clatter.
He heard Tom swearing from behind the mountain of books. He quickly recited a floating spell to Eleanor, then took her body around quickly in a circle, and then flew towards the door.
"Come back to me!" he heard Tom cry after him, angrily.
He had thought Tom would chant a curse behind his back, but in fact Tom didn't do that.He escaped from the Room of Requirement, panting.
He hugged Eleanor's body floating in the air, and ran towards the school hospital.
He looked back to see if Tom had come after him, but he was surprised to find that Tom was gone.
At this moment, he suddenly accidentally bumped into a person hard.
"Avery?" He heard Professor Dumbledore's voice above him.
"I—" Avery looked up at Professor Dumbledore, and when he was thinking about how to explain all this, Professor Dumbledore suddenly interrupted him.
"Come with me." Professor Dumbledore's eyes fell on Eleanor, and he said solemnly, "Bring Eleanor along."
"I didn't do this." Avery whispered after hurriedly following Professor Dumbledore.
Professor Dumbledore sighed, "Yes, I know it's not you."
Avery hesitated for a moment, and finally said that sentence.
"It's Tom, Professor—it's Tom Riddle."
Dumbledore stopped abruptly, he turned and stared at Avery meaningfully, "Why do you think so?"
"I'm not sure, but I think it's him," Avery said.He quickly told Professor Dumbledore what he had just seen.
"I understand." Dumbledore said with a serious expression, and then his expression eased, "Come with me, we have to go to the school hospital first." He said, suddenly showing a slight smile, "Don't Don't worry, Eleanor will be all right."
Avery nodded hesitantly, then followed Dumbledore and left.
A pair of indifferent eyes were watching their backs in the dark, and then let out a sigh.
