[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind

Chapter 039 The Clock of Kronos

"Who the hell is that guy?" Eleanor said in surprise.

"I don't know." Tom said impatiently, he kicked the broken bottle at his feet, and sneered, "Very well, now that the Floo powder is spilled, I have to find another way to get out of here."

"It's us." Eleanor corrected, "We can take the elevator we came here and leave from the lobby. Maybe we can meet people from the Ministry of Magic there."

Tom obviously felt that this was the only solution, because he was already striding towards the elevator.

Fortunately, there happens to be an elevator that stops on this floor. They stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the eighth-floor lobby.

Just when the elevator was about to reach the eighth floor, there was a loud explosion.

The explosion this time was more violent than any previous one, and the entire elevator shook because of it.Tom staggered a few steps unsteadily, and hurriedly supported the wall so as not to fall down.

At this moment, a heat wave mixed with thick smoke rushed towards the face from between the elevator's grille doors.

"Oh, my God—it's on fire!" Eleanor couldn't help exclaiming.

Perhaps because of the explosion just now, the hall was filled with thick smoke, and the sound of people running and screaming could be vaguely heard.

Tom coughed violently. He covered his mouth and nose and smashed the elevator control panel with his fist. After a slight weightlessness, the elevator started up again and sank deeper into the ground.

Soon, the elevator stopped working, and the fence door slammed open to one side.

This floor was unusually quiet, and the fire did not spread here.

"It seems that we can hide here." Eleanor said, "Do you think those people will find here?"

Tom didn't answer her, he coughed palely, and the heavy smoke seemed to choke him quite badly.

A dim corridor appeared before them, and by the light of the torch, Eleanor saw a black door at the end.

"What is this place?" Eleanor looked around curiously.

Apart from the black door, there seems to be no other exit here.

Tom fumbled for a while on the elevator control panel, pressed a few buttons, and succeeded in stopping the elevator on this floor.

After doing all this, he walked out of the elevator and walked straight to the black door.

Standing in front of the black door, Tom had a hesitant look on his face.

It was an undecorated door, and there was no sign on the door that said "administrator's office".

"Let me go in and see the situation first." Eleanor volunteered.

Tom nodded slightly.

She took a deep breath, trying to pass through the door to see the situation behind it, but was blocked by an invisible resistance.

"I can't make it through." Eleanor said in surprise, she had never encountered such a situation before.

Tom held out his wand, and the tip slipped lightly through the crack of the door.He muttered a few incantations softly, and then said, "Some kind of magic is cast on here, but I should be able to find a way to break it."

"Maybe it's better for us not to open it." Eleanor suggested, she vaguely felt that there was something dangerous behind this door.

"I've heard of it," she heard Tom whisper, the orange flames in his black eyes, "this is supposed to be the Ministry of Magic's Department of Mysteries. I've heard they're doing some unknown things here." Research."

"Sounds a bit conspiratorial," said Eleanor. "Maybe we can knock on the door first to see if anyone is inside?"

But Tom was more inclined to break in directly. He quickly found a way to open the door.

"They didn't use too complicated magic to seal this door." He said with a frown, and the moment he finished speaking, the black door slowly opened.

Tom raised his wand and stepped through the door.

Behind the door is a pure black rotunda, with several black doors without any markings scattered around it.The blue candlelight filled the entire hall with a dark and cold atmosphere.

Eleanor looked carefully at the black door closest to them.

She found that she still couldn't get through the door.Just when she was guessing what was behind these doors, the door they came in suddenly closed automatically.

"What's going on?" As soon as her words fell, the round wall suddenly slowly rotated.

"Damn it." She heard Tom curse. The speed of the rotation of the wall became faster and faster, and finally the outline of the door could hardly be seen.

After an unknown period of time, the wall stopped.

Eleanor looked around and found that they could no longer find the door they had come from. She sighed and said, "Great, now we won't be able to get out for a while."

"I knew there would be such a mechanism." Tom said annoyedly. He took a deep breath and sneered. "Let's see what they're hiding."

He walked to a black door, pushed it lightly, and opened it easily.

It was a very strange room.

Eleanor was completely attracted by the scene in front of her.Countless clocks filled the entire room, they hung on the entire ceiling, between the bookshelves, and on the surrounding walls, and on a long table in the middle of the room were hundreds of exquisite clocks.

They went through the door, walked carefully past the grandfather clock, and finally came to the end of the room.

At the end is a very gorgeous grandfather clock, with countless exquisite and bright gemstones inlaid on its golden dial and pendulum. The black wooden shell is engraved with complex bronzing patterns, which looks a bit like some kind of strange characters.

A strange golden pattern is painted on the back of the pendulum. After observing it carefully for a while, Eleanor saw that it was a monster with the body of a snake, with three heads of different shapes—a bull's head, a lion's head, and a human's head.

The pendulum is constantly swinging from side to side, making a "click, click, click" sound.Strangely enough, there are no scales, numbers, or hands on the dial.

Tom narrowed his eyes and studied the strange clock carefully.

Eleanor quickly lost interest in it.She began to look at a bell-shaped glass cover that stood next to the clock. There is a beautiful luminous air flow in the glass cover, and there is a small bird egg in the center of the air flow. A hummingbird quickly breaks out of the shell, floats with the air flow, and then falls again to become a bird egg.

While she was observing the glass enclosure, she suddenly heard a sound coming from the door behind the glass enclosure.

She floated near the door, and leaned against it to listen carefully for the sound behind it.

Soon, she heard that it was a faint footstep.

"Hey, Tom," she said in a low voice, "there seems to be someone over here—"

Just as she was speaking, the sound of footsteps suddenly became clear.Immediately afterwards, the door slammed open from the inside.

Eleanor was taken aback, and she quickly stepped back a distance.

A stooped old woman was standing behind the door, her face was wrinkled and looked like a shriveled orange. But her blue eyes were not cloudy at all, as bright as a young man's.

She stared at Eleanor for a few seconds, then turned to Tom standing in front of the clock.

"Are you interested in the Bell of Kronos, young man?" she said, her voice dry and hoarse, as if she hadn't spoken for a long time.

"The Bell of Kronos?" Tom said softly, meeting the old woman's penetrating gaze without fear.

"Yes," said the old woman, walking tremblingly to the clock, murmuring to herself, "Cronus, son of Uranus, great time God."

"What is this clock for?" Eleanor couldn't help asking.

The old woman sighed, "Some people say that using it can control time, but no one alive has ever used it. Now, it is just a useless clock."

She turned around and looked at Tom again, and sighed again, "My child, not everything in this world can be reversed by magic. Time is like this, and so is life... Magic often changes, but they appearance... No one can really go against the will of the gods, no matter how great a magician is."

Tom's calm expression finally showed a slight change, and he said vigilantly, "Who are you?"

"I'm just an ordinary prophet." She said softly, "I can see something in you, child, although it's vague, but I can feel something dangerous..."

Tom opened his mouth slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but was interrupted by the other party.

"Come on, child," she said. "This is not where you should be. Now is the time for you to go."

"Let's go, Tom," whispered Eleanor.

But Tom stood there motionless, his eyes cast behind the old woman, "What's behind that door?"

"Prophecy, child." The old woman said calmly, and at the same time she spread her palms, revealing a small glass ball with a faint light shining inside, "This is a prophecy, a prophecy I made 20 years ago." Prophecy. Now it's fulfilled, so I've come to take it away."

"What kind of prophecy is that?" Eleanor asked curiously.

"It's about today's prophecy." The old woman said, "The rise of the dark wizard, the minions reaching out to Britain...and this attack." She raised her head and looked at Eleanor with burning eyes, "And ,you."

A few minutes later, Tom and Eleanor left the room.

"Do you have any thoughts about the prophecy just now?" Eleanor said thoughtfully, "Did she really foresee that we would be here today?"

"I don't know." Tom said coldly, "Maybe she's just a crazy old woman." As he spoke, he raised his hand and made a green mark on the door just now. Then he pushed open the second black door.

The author has something to say: Note ①: Cronus (English: Cronus/Greek: Κρ?νο?) is a combination of the creativity and destructive power of time, time that devours everything. (Baidu Encyclopedia)

I originally wanted to set the prophet as a relative of Trelawney, but I remembered that Trelawney said that since Cassandra, she is the first person in the family to have a second vision, so I changed it~
