[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind
Chapter 016 This is an education issue
"I can't believe it!" After class, Eleanor couldn't help saying in the corridor, "Almost all the professors trust you so much!"
"It only shows that I am worthy of their trust." Tom said with the corners of his lips curled up. "Obviously, they prefer students like me."
"That's because they don't understand you at all." Eleanor said, "They can only see Tom Riddle who loves to learn, and that's just your appearance! You are simply more cunning than most adults!"
"Thank you for the compliment." Tom snorted softly, looking at Eleanor from the corner of his eyes, "Could it be that you are still angry because I didn't believe that nonsense?"
"Nonsense?" Eleanor frowned. "I've said it many times, and I'm telling the truth! You'll understand sooner or later."
"But what about the evidence?" Tom raised his head to meet her eyes, and there was a certain stubbornness in his eyes. "Without evidence, I wouldn't believe that bizarre lie."
"The evidence is my memory." After a short silence, Eleanor said softly, "I will never forget the face of the person who killed me."
Tom stopped and said in a blunt tone: "Well, even if I believe you, what do you want? Do you want revenge on me?" He paused, showing a contemptuous sneer, "Or you want to beg me to Don't kill you?"
"I never thought of it that way," replied Eleanor angrily.
"Then why do you have to make me take your word for it?" Tom sneered. "Do you want me to confess? For something that never happened?"
"I--"
Eleanor shut her mouth suddenly. She didn't know how to answer.
Ever since that incident she had felt strongly that she must tell Tom the truth. And what was the reason for this, she never seriously thought about it.
Full of doubts about her thoughts, she stopped talking to Tom, but fell into deep thought.
She always felt that he had to know what kind of person he was likely to become when he grew up.This may allow him to change a wrong decision at a critical moment in the future.
Doing so might very well risk altering the future, but Eleanor would rather take that risk. She didn't want to just do nothing and watch history repeat itself.
So, Eleanor seemed to understand a little bit what she really thought.
That night, Avery came back from the school hospital.
He appears to have fully recovered. The potion didn't seem to do him any harm.
He looked at Eleanor who was floating in the air without saying a word, and Tom who was lying on the bed practicing the spell carelessly, and asked in surprise, "What happened to you while I was away?"
"What's the matter?" asked Tom without looking up.
"I always feel that the atmosphere between you seems a bit tense." Avery muttered in a low voice.
"That's your illusion." Tom said coldly, "We used to be like this."
Eleanor said with concern, "How are you feeling, Avery?"
Probably hearing the concern in her tone, Avery suddenly squeezed out a smile a little unnaturally, "It's okay...uh, thank you. But, have you heard? Flint, who is in the third grade, was Snake bite! It's just horrible!"
"Yeah, I heard." Eleanor said, and glanced at Tom who didn't respond.
"Fortunately, we have a Parseltongue," Avery said a little excitedly, "so even if a poisonous snake did sneak into our dorm room, it wouldn't be dangerous. Parseltongue is a friend of snakes. Are you right, Tom?"
"Of course, you don't have to worry about anything." Tom said with a smile without looking up.
"You're so stupid, Avery." Eleanor muttered helplessly, holding her forehead.
"Did you say something?" Avery looked up at Eleanor innocently and asked.
"She was just talking to herself—am I right?" Tom looked up at Eleanor, smiling.
Eleanor glared at the black-haired boy and rolled her eyes, "Yes, I was just talking to myself. Don't pay attention to me."
After the Transfiguration class was over the next morning, Professor Dumbledore suddenly stopped Tom, who was about to go out.
"Wait a minute, Tom." Professor Dumbledore said with a smile, "I want to chat with you."
Tom, with his back to Dumbledore, showed a momentary look of disgust, but he quickly changed into a calm expression. He turned around. "What's the matter, Professor?"
Dumbledore raised his wand and dragged a chair from the air, "Please sit down, Tom." He looked up at Eleanor who was staring at him curiously, "I'm sorry to take up your time. I want to talk Talk about that Avery thing."
"Well, sir," said Tom sweetly, and sat down in his chair.
"I'm sorry what happened to Avery," said Dumbledore. "I remember you two are friends, don't you?"
Tom hesitated, then replied, "Yes, we're friends."
Dumbledore sighed, and said: "It was obvious that someone deliberately pranked and poisoned the pumpkin pie. I regret that some of my students would do such a thing to hurt their classmates."
Elinor saw clearly that Tom's hand was quietly clenched behind him.
"I'm sorry, too, sir," Tom whispered back.
"Professor Slughorn told me that he had questioned several students who were present at the time." Dumbledore continued, "He said that there was a girl who could prove that Billy Flint took her the plate of pumpkin pie. So Horace suspects that Billy poisoned the pumpkin pie. Have you any clues about that, Tom?"
As he spoke, the clear blue eyes behind the glasses cast a sharp look on Tom.
Eleanor watched as Tom gripped the edge of her chair tightly, as if forcibly enduring some emotion. He whispered hoarsely, "No, no, sir."
Dumbledore stared at Tom solemnly for a few seconds, then he suddenly showed a smile, "Don't be nervous, I'm just asking casually. So let's stop here today. If you think of any clues, just come to my office to find them." For me, the pass code is yoghurt."
"Yes, Professor." Tom answered obediently.
"Then you can go." Dumbledore said with a smile, "Oh, by the way, I want to have a private chat with Eleanor—"
Hearing this, Tom suddenly opened his eyes unabashedly.
"Please close the door after you go out, and wait at the door for a while. Will you, Tom?" said Dumbledore.
"Of course." Tom replied immediately, and then walked out of the classroom seemingly calmly.
Seeing that the classroom door was completely closed, Eleanor turned to stare at Dumbledore, "What do you want to talk about, Mr. Dumbledore?"
"You can call me Albus," said Dumbledore, smiling.
"Okay, Albus," said Eleanor, who hesitated, "do you have any questions for me?"
"Yes, you are very smart, Eleanor." The smile on Dumbledore's face restrained a little, "You follow Tom every day, so I just want to ask you—what kind of impression do you have on him? view?"
"He's very bright, much smarter than the average boy," replied Eleanor, "and has a great passion for learning."
"Yes, I have heard these words many times from other professors." Dumbledore said with a soft sigh, "Do you have any different thoughts, Eleanor?"
Eleanor was silent for a moment, "Yes, I have."
"Oh?" Dumbledore showed a look of listening attentively.
"Actually," Eleanor said deliberately, "I'm a little worried about him."
"Worried?" Dumbledore showed a surprised expression.
"He thinks a lot of things very differently from ordinary children." Eleanor said, "I think some thoughts... are a bit dangerous." She said, and suddenly sighed, "So I always wanted to say, The way you wizards are educated is very problematic."
Dumbledore probably didn't expect that Eleanor would suddenly mention the "education method", he looked at Eleanor with some confusion, "Oh, is that so?"
"I've already visited all your courses." Eleanor spread her hands and said, "You only teach students how to cast spells and how to stir a cauldron, but you don't teach any other aspects. You know, many of your students even have double-digit numbers. Addition and subtraction are not good enough, not to mention their poor knowledge of geography! Some people even think that China is some kind of African country!"
Dumbledore still looked at her with that surprised expression, "Uh, what?"
"Also, what you lack the most is moral education." Eleanor said, "I have seen many bullying incidents among students. You can only say confinement, confinement--punishment cannot fundamentally Solve the problem!"
After listening to Eleanor's rapid-fire words, Dumbledore showed a helpless smile. "I think it's because Muggle and wizarding traditions are different. Generally speaking, education other than magic is done by the student's guardian."
"Then the crime rate in your wizarding world must be high." Eleanor frowned and muttered, "You should consider adding moral education courses to it as soon as possible. You can't expect all parents to manage their children well, because many Adults have problems of their own — not to mention orphans who don’t even have guardians.”
"In fact, our crime rate is not high." Dumbledore said with a sigh, "but I have to admit that what you said makes sense. I have been looking for ways to reform wizard education, but I have not found a suitable way .”
He looked at his pocket watch, "There is not much time. I still have to prepare the materials needed for the next class." He looked up and smiled and said, "Then let's continue discussing this topic next time, Eleanor."
The author has something to say:
