Chapter 7 afterword

Both love and violence have strong impulses, and in this respect they are quite similar.

... This sentence makes sense at first glance, but it is not quite correct to compare the two.Love is emotion, violence is behavior.Emotions are uncontrollable. We cannot change what happens in the brain. Of course, it is another matter if we use drugs, but we cannot affect nerve cells by ourselves. From this point of view, love is a helpless thing, and hate is also helpless.Sadness, joy, anger, jealousy, lust, all are beyond our control.People live in the world with these uncontrollable emotions, so they often do stupid things, such as hurting important people with words or actions, sometimes even killing people.

On the other hand, violence is a "behavior caused by negative emotions". Emotions such as anger and hatred are the fuse of violence. The protagonist of this work, Tsuji, jokingly calls himself an expert in violence, and will not use violence in wrong places... But no matter what the reason is, as long as violence is used, it is wrong.Even so, I made Tsuji a character who knows how to control violent impulses.Because I think it's better to know how to control than not to be able to control.

People can always tolerate violence in fictional worlds, and accept violence and cruelty in fictional works such as novels and movies. When we saw movie characters shooting with machine guns, it felt refreshing. This phenomenon can be explained as "everyone has violent impulses", and the fact that people only accept "fictitious violence" also shows rational operation. After all, Tsuji is a person in a fictional world, so everything about him can be as I wish.

The world of fiction is full of fiction, yet many parts are often connected with real life.Sometimes the writer does it on purpose, and sometimes it happens by accident.

Tsuji doesn't want to understand what love is, but wants to understand violence.Because he is a fictional person, he can freely approach readers. The boundary between fiction and reality may seem clear at first glance, but in fact it may be very ambiguous.Because of this, I will never tire of creating one story after another.

I would like to express my gratitude to Enjin Anmaru-sensei, who drew the beautiful illustrations, and to everyone who contributed to the publication of this book.In addition, I also sincerely thank all dear readers. What are your thoughts on the character of Tsuji? As an author, I am very curious.
