[HP] Dearest Enemy
Chapter 77 Event 62: Tom's Discovery
"Mr. Riddle, can we have a Halloween ball in the break room this year?" Rookwood asked towards the end of the Greader meeting.
Tom scanned the crowd, and saw that they were all staring at him, with the corners of their lips slightly bent upwards: "Yes. You are responsible for the specifics."
The girls present immediately beamed with joy.Tom pretended not to see, opened the door and left the lounge.
Today is Sunday, a day of rest, but Tom can't take a leisurely walk by the lake like everyone else. There was very little information from the house-elf, and the elves consciously avoided it when Harry and Dumbledore were talking. It was impossible for Tom to know what they said, and he could only be sure of the two. It seemed that certain secrets had been exchanged, and some of them were about him.
Tom confirmed this from what Nagini had overheard earlier.Dumbledore thought he would be "the one" and Harry didn't think so.Tom was puzzled. He remembered that Harry seemed to have said similar things when he and Harry were walking by the lake.Had he always thought of himself as someone else?Years of speculation about Harry came flooding back in an instant.Harry's hot and cold attitude towards himself when he was a child, the research he never gave up, Harry's suspicion of himself, his conversation with Dumbledore...It seems that there is a thread connecting all these, Tom He stopped involuntarily, and stood silently in the hall.
Yes, the truth is like this, but it has been ignored by him all the time.Harry is from the future, he knows what will happen in the future, he knows who he will become in the future, so he keeps staring at him because he doesn't trust him.It wasn't that cold, but Tom felt the chill rising from under his feet and piercing through his heart.
Tom turned sharply, almost unable to resist the thought of rushing to Harry's office immediately to ask him what happened next.He wanted to ask him aloud who he was going to be, how heinous he was, and if that was why Harry hadn't accepted him, but he hadn't done anything yet.But Tom didn't move, he was familiar with Harry's temper, even if he rushed up and grabbed him by the collar and pointed his wand at his head, it would be impossible to force something out of Harry's mouth that he didn't want to say.Besides, once he asked all these out, the relationship between them was completely over, whether Tom wanted to or not.
Tom took another step and walked outside the castle.Dumbledore knew this, and Harry trusted him, so he could tell the crafty old bee his secret. The very thought of it made Tom feel the fire in his chest flare up again, but this time the fire was called anger.Without thinking, Tom walked towards the school gate, intending to find a place to have a drink. He now had the privilege of leaving school during breaks to purchase necessary supplies, a privilege Tom had never honestly intended to use for the occasional purchase.
Never thought about it before, and now it seems that Harry adopted himself precisely because he knew what he would become. So what exactly is he in Harry's eyes?A loved one, or a growing enemy? He asked himself to be his teaching assistant, and in this case he insisted on teaching for another year, was it because he needed to continue to monitor himself?Tom didn't notice how tightly his fists were clenched, nor did he hear Alphat's voice calling him.
Alfart watched Tom stride out of the school gate as if fleeing and disapparated, panting breathlessly while holding on to the closed cast iron gate.He saw Tom's dazed expression in the hall, but before he could call Tom he strode out.Alphard was a little worried, and hurried to catch up, but Tom walked quickly, and he didn't hear his shout at all. After the semester started, he seldom talked to Tom. He could only see him during classes and meals, and sometimes Tom didn't even return to his dormitory.Arafat knew that his friend, who was the head of the student body, had a single bedroom, and he had gone in it once when the term started, and it was much more comfortable than the double room in the cellar, and it was very close to Harry's office.Alphat didn't know exactly what happened to Tom, but he was sure that his friend was definitely not happy and needed reassurance.
But Arafat is not the president of the Boys' Union and the teaching assistant, and he cannot leave the school at such a time. Many pairs of eyes had seen Tom leave, and those eyes were on him now.
Alfart actually just wants to say a word to Tom, he wants to say that I am your friend, I hope you will come to me when you need me, instead of doing it alone.Alfat leaned against the door to catch his breath, tidied up his robe that had become a little messy due to running, and his expression had returned to calm.Maybe at dinner he could ask Tom what happened and see if he could help his friend.
Tom, however, did not appear at supper time.Harry noticed the anomaly and hurriedly finished his supper and left the Great Hall.Harry checked the map and saw that Tom wasn't at the school.Although he didn't know whether Tom was carrying a double-sided mirror with him, Harry took the mirror out of his pocket and called out Tom's name.
The boy's calm face appeared in the mirror, but he looked a little depressed.
"Where have you been?" Harry asked.
"Nowhere." Tom stopped talking.
"You're not at school," said Harry gravely. "Come back here."
Tom looked at him silently through the mirror, and finally nodded: "I'll be right back."
Harry put away the mirror and walked towards the Hogwarts gate.
Tom quickly Apparated at the school gate, and he wasn't surprised when he saw Harry standing inside the door, just frowned slightly and walked in.
"It's getting dark, where the hell have you been?" Harry asked as calmly as possible.
"Nothing, go out for a walk." Tom replied calmly.
"In a bad mood?" Harry asked.
Tom gave him a deep look, but didn't answer.
Harry frowned slightly: "Tom?"
Tom still didn't speak. He wanted to ask Harry aloud, but for some reason, when he saw those emerald eyes, all his words were stuck in his throat, and he couldn't utter a single word.
"What happened?" Harry asked anxiously.Tom was looking at himself all the time, and it was definitely not normal for him to look like this.
Tom remembered what he had heard from Nagini.
"Harry, can I give you a hug?" Tom asked softly.
Harry was stunned for a second, but before he agreed or refused, he was hugged tightly by the black-eyed boy.
"What happened?" Harry asked.
"I'm afraid you don't want me," said Tom muffled.
How inexplicable, Harry thought.
"What's wrong with you today?" Harry whispered suspiciously.
"I'm not in a good mood," Tom replied. "Don't talk, just let me hold you for a while."
So Harry shut up and tried to guess what had happened to Tom, but he never got it right.
"Harry, promise me," said Tom softly, "you won't want me."
"Tom." Harry tried to pull the boy away from him, but Tom's arms locked him down and he couldn't move.
"Promise me!" Tom's voice trembled.
"Why do you think I don't want you?" Harry sighed softly, "You're my godson."
"But you never wanted to be with me," said Tom.
"It's two different things," replied Harry. "Don't be selfish, Tom."
"No, it's not the same thing," said Tom stubbornly. "I'm not a bad boy, am I?"
"You're not," Harry replied, with a vague premonition.
"Really?" Tom finally looked up from his shoulders.
"Really." Harry hesitated, reaching out to caress the boy's face.
"You trust me?" Tom still looked into his eyes uncertainly.
"I believe so," Harry replied. "Why do you ask?"
Tom shook his head and hugged him again.
"Tom!" Harry protested helplessly.
"I love you, Harry," Tom whispered quietly in his ear, "so no matter what, I won't give you up."
Harry froze for a moment, and Tom let him go, the corners of his lips curved slightly.
From now on, no matter what, I will not give up on you, my Harry.
After Alphat came out of the bathroom, he was startled by Tom sitting on the chair. He blinked several times before he was sure that the black-eyed boy in front of him who was looking at him with his head on one hand was not a hallucination.
"When did you come back?"
"Half an hour ago," said Tom briskly, "I decided to come back for a few days."
"What's the matter with you this afternoon?" Arafate sat down opposite him, "You looked so bad, I called you several times but you didn't hear me, and then I left the school gate."
"Just a little problem." Tom shrugged. "I'm all right now."
"You didn't look like you were okay at that time." Arafate observed his friend's expression, "Are you really okay?"
Tom nodded: "It's all right."
Arafat raised his eyebrows and drew a long tone: "I thought you forgot about my roommate."
Tom couldn't help laughing: "I haven't seen you for a few days, and you miss me so much..."
"Tom!" Alfart slammed the towel at him. The guy couldn't expect him to spit ivory out of a dog's mouth.Tom dodged the towel thrown by Alfart, suppressed a smile and pinched his friend's face.
"Don't be so excited, I know you miss me..."
"Tom Riddle! Please don't be such a bastard!" The long-haired boy grabbed the pillow and threw it at the short-haired boy. The latter caught the pillow he threw with a smirk on his lips.
"Hmph, Alfred, you're dead." Tom threw himself at Alfred with the pillow.
"Who's afraid of you!" Alfred quickly ran to Tom's bedside, fucked his friend's pillow, and fell towards him not to be outdone.
About an hour and a half later the two were lying on the feathered bed, panting from exhaustion.Tom's shirt was buttoned up to his chest, Arafat's wet hair was covered with feathers, and the dormitory was messed up by them.
Tom suddenly laughed.
"What are you laughing at?" Arafat weakly threw the empty pillowcase on his friend's face, "I'm covered in hair all over by you."
"Haven't we ever played like this before?" asked Tom, with a smile in his voice, removing the pillowcase.
"I've never played this crazy before," said Alfart. "The house-elf who cleans up the dormitory must cry."
With a long breath Tom sat up and brushed off his feathers.Alfat also got up, took out his wand and cast a clean on himself and the bed.Tom also took the wand and cleaned off the remaining feathers, and returned Alfart's pillow back to him.
"I'm exhausted, I'm going to sleep." Alphat lay down hugging the pillow, and pulled the bed curtain with his magic wand, "Good night, Mr. Feather."
"Good night, Miss Goosefeather," said Tom, with a suppressed laugh, and again, as expected, a pillow was thrown from the curtain.Tom caught the pillows on his own bed, and lay down contentedly.
Harry's doubts and refusals were nothing, he still had Alfred as a friend.Isn't it the right thing to do instead of feeling sorry for yourself and turn those disadvantages into advantages?Harry believes in himself, then he will always accept himself, as long as he does what he should do.
After Tom announced to Harry that he would not give up, Harry had been a little nervous. But what Tom did was the same as usual. He still cooperates with Harry in class; helps him run errands, corrects homework; sends him to rest on Thursday night justifiably, and then helps him complete the remaining homework; prepares lessons with him, and solves problems encountered.Everything seemed to be the same as before, but Harry would sometimes watch Tom work hard, and then suddenly realize what he was doing and look away.Tom doesn't have to do anything to catch his eye, and it's impossible not to focus on him.Harry didn't know how to explain his confusion.
Tom sometimes invites Harry to have afternoon tea or go to Hogsmeade, but Harry refuses most of the time. The black-eyed boy was not discouraged, he would continue to invite Harry with a smile next time, until Harry reluctantly agreed to himself.Tom knew that Harry wouldn't keep rejecting himself, which gave him a lot of confidence.
On Christmas Eve, Harry received a letter from Alex, who invited Harry and Tom to spend Christmas at Palampion Manor.Tom was a little reluctant, but didn't object when Harry asked.Tom couldn't figure out what was on Harry's back at all, and when he asked about Harry, he could only use various excuses to prevaricate himself.
Maybe we can find out something from Alex, Tom thought so.
Tom scanned the crowd, and saw that they were all staring at him, with the corners of their lips slightly bent upwards: "Yes. You are responsible for the specifics."
The girls present immediately beamed with joy.Tom pretended not to see, opened the door and left the lounge.
