[HP] Dearest Enemy
Chapter 60 Event 46: The Biscuit and the Snake
Nagini has been a little unhappy lately.Since Tom came back from school, he seldom talked to her, and he was always busy with various things.Every day when I reported to him the situation in the school, he just listened while busy with the matter at hand, and responded from time to time without saying a word.Nagini twisted around him for a long time, but he still didn't get a straight look from Tom, so he had to go to Alphat to eat biscuits in a dull way.
"Nagini." Tom suddenly stopped the little snake that was about to wrap itself around Arafat's wrist, "There is something I need you to do."
"What is it?" As soon as Nagini heard that there was a mission, he immediately left Alpha and came over.
"Go and see Harry for me," said Tom. "Once a day, and tell me what he does."
"I won't go!" Nagini shook his head quickly, "Harry is so scary, I don't want to see him."
"You really don't want to go?" Tom's tone became colder.
"No, no." Nagini shook his head even more vigorously.
Tom held out a finger. "A box of biscuits?"
"Don't go!"
"Two boxes?"
"...don't go!"
"Three boxes?"
"……I go!"
Tom snorted softly: "Very good, three boxes a month."
"Ah?!" Nagini quit after hearing this, "Not three boxes a week? Tom, you bully!"
The little snake relentlessly climbed onto the boy's shoulders and bit his white collar, and was dragged off by Tom.
"Don't mess around, this is what you agreed to." Tom said leisurely, "I'll go to Hogsmeade tomorrow to buy you biscuits, how about it?"
Nagini twisted a few times in dissatisfaction, but finally agreed to the temptation of the biscuit.
"Hasn't Tom been to your place lately?" Alex asked while drinking tea. "Didn't he run very hard before?"
"He went to help Mrs. Mild." Harry said, "last time Slughorn said that Tom is definitely the next president of the student union, and now the entire Slytherin affairs are basically represented by Tom, and there is not so much time to come." Help me with my homework."
"Cunning old spider." Alex laughed, "Doesn't it hurt you to see your godson being tortured by others?"
Harry glanced at his friend, and put down the parchment in his hand with a half-smile: "Tom proposed it himself. He's an adult and doesn't need me to make this kind of decision for him."
Alex stared at Harry for a second, then shrugged: "By the way, today is the weekend, do you want to go to Hogsmeade?"
Harry thought it over and agreed. When the two arrived at Hogsmeade village, they found that the village was full of students, and then they remembered that today was the first Hogsmeade weekend of this semester.
"What a coincidence we're here." Alex grimaced.
"We all forgot to look at the calendar." Harry smiled wryly, "Is there anything you want to buy?"
Alex shook his head: "Going to have a drink at the Three Broomsticks?"
"Then let's go."
The streets were full of students wearing black school robes in twos and threes. When they saw Harry and Alex, they greeted them very politely.
"I don't like coming to Hogsmeade at a time like this." Harry whispered to Alex while nodding in response to the two students passing by him.
"You always hate being noticed." Alex looked at the surrounding streets leisurely, and suddenly pointed in a direction, "Harry, is this your kid?"
Harry looked along Alex's arm, and the tall Tom was standing at the door of Honeydukes, talking to Alfred and Rookwood. The three soon broke up, with Alfred and Rookwood going in two different directions, and Tom going to the candy store.
"I remember that kid in your family doesn't like sweets." Alex looked at Harry with some doubts.
Harry was also curious, knowing that Tom rarely ate snacks and had never found anything like a candy box in his room.
"Go and see?" Alex was obviously interested.Harry frowned slightly, he didn't want to follow Tom, but Alex had already walked over, Harry shook his head and followed.
Honeydukes was crowded with students, but Harry soon spotted Tom among the heads.Tom stood in front of a row of dessert shelves full of various biscuits and cookies for a long time, and finally took a few boxes of blueberry-flavored biscuits to the cashier to pay.Harry squeezed his way to the shelf and saw that Tom had bought the most expensive biscuits in the store.
"Merlin, he's really picky!" Alex also saw the price marked on the shelf, and couldn't help being speechless, "But this brand does taste better than other brands. How much pocket do you give Tom? Money? Not everyone can afford this price."
Harry looked at the beautifully wrapped boxes on the shelf, feeling like he was missing something, and then he thought of the snake hiding in his cookie box, and it dawned on him, but then he frowned.
This kid is really... prodigal!
"You wait for me here." Harry said to Alex, and hurried to the cashier.
"Huh?" Alex looked helplessly at Harry who had already run to Tom's side, "Even if you want to pay your godson, you can't be in such a hurry, right?"
Tom took out his wallet to pay, sighing a little inwardly. It's all the fault of Al-Fate, so now Nagini only eats this kind of biscuits. This is the extra money he earned after a month of hard work!Three boxes of biscuits wiped out the money, and it looks like a few more trips to Borgin-Bock will be needed.Although the old guy is also very stingy, at least he can get Nagini's biscuit money for two months by running for him.
"Let me pay."
The familiar voice behind him made Tom's heart skip a beat, and his wallet almost fell to the ground with a shake of his hand. How could he be in such a place! The black-eyed boy pursed his lips, and looked coldly at the green-eyed man who suddenly appeared beside him.
"I've still got money for that," said Tom nonchalantly.
Sighing, Harry snatched Tom's wallet out of his hand without saying a word, then took out his own and turned to the clerk.
"how much is the total?"
Tom watched Harry pay and handed the biscuit box to him, but didn't pick it up, and protested softly: "Give me back my wallet, I'll buy it myself."
"If you don't take it yourself, I'll find a student to bring these things to you along with your wallet." Harry also lowered his voice.
Tom glared at him angrily, and took the biscuit: "Give me back the wallet."
Harry shook his head, and stuffed the wallet into his hand: "Shall we go back after having dinner in Hogsmeade?"
"I have homework to do," Tom replied dryly. "I'm in a hurry."
"Tom." There was a hint of warning in Harry's tone. The boy frowned, there are too many people here, it's not a place to talk.
"If I can get those papers done ahead of time, I'll call you," said Tom, avoiding Harry's eyes. "Have a nice weekend, Harry."
"Have a nice weekend." Harry watched as the boy hurried away from the candy store and walked back to the shelf with the cookies.
"What did you do to him during your vacation?" Alex looked at him with a half-smile, "I don't think he really wants to see you."
"Nothing happened to him." Harry replied after thinking for a while, "Muggles have a word to explain this phenomenon, it seems to be called adolescent rebellion?"
Alex opened his eyes wide, and looked at his friend with a blank and curious face: "Is there such a saying?"
Harry shrugged, reached out from the shelf and took two boxes of biscuits like the one Tom bought just now: "Besides that, I really don't know how to explain it."
Alex made a grimace, and pointed to the box in Harry's hand: "You didn't buy it for that kid, did you?"
"No." Harry shook his head, "I'm just curious about how delicious these biscuits are."
Alex squinted at him.Harry smiled and went to the cashier to pay.
At dinner, Alfart found that Tom seemed to be in a worse mood than usual, but he refused to tell no matter how he asked him, and he guessed for a long time but couldn't figure it out.Because of Tom's obvious low pressure, the entire Slytherin table atmosphere became cautious. Although Tom would not vent his anger on others casually, everyone dared not speak loudly for fear of making their great prefect's mood worse.Tom left the table and went to the library after a casual bite, and Alfred, hastily stuffing the last of the tortillas on his plate into his mouth, followed.
"What the hell happened today?" Arafat asked. They went early and there were only a few people in the library.
"I met Harry at Honeydukes," said Tom softly.
Alphard was a little puzzled: "Are you unhappy to see Harry?"
Tom frowned: "No."
"Then why did you—"
"I don't want to talk about this, Al." Tom interrupted the boy opposite him irritably, "Shall we do our homework?"
Arafat opened his mouth in dissatisfaction, wanting to protest, but swallowed back the words of protest.
Harry wasn't sure if Nagini would slip in.Harry put a protective spell on his office door after the last bite, and it hasn't been touched yet.But he wasn't sure if Nagini had slipped in some other way, because in his second year, Hermione had spotted basilisks wandering through the plumbing system throughout the castle, petrifying several students.
Harry opened the box, took a biscuit and tasted it, and had to admit that the little snake had good taste, the biscuit was delicious.Harry took a biscuit and ate it while tidying up the things on his desk. Finally, he left the lid of the biscuit box ajar and went to the laboratory next door.
Although Nagini was very reluctant, looking at the box tied with a ribbon on the table, Miss Snake swallowed, and then walked from the cellar to the third floor along the water pipe.Although only the heirs of Slytherin can control Briente, he has already known everything about Hogwarts for such a long time. Thanks to it, Nagini learned many things, such as how to sneak through gaps much smaller than his own body, how to sneak in without touching the protective spell that the professor set on his door, and so on.Tom didn't tell Nagini, so Miss Snake didn't know that what the Basilisk taught her was actually black magic in the eyes of wizards.
Nagini had been to Harry's office many times before, but hadn't been back in the last few months. As soon as she entered the door today, she smelled the aroma of biscuits on the table.Nagini almost couldn't wait to climb onto Harry's desk, and then remembered the last time he escaped from Harry.
Let's not eat it, Tom will be angry if it happens again.
But it was a full box, exactly like the one Tom had bought.
Woohoo, what should I do?Miss Snake twisted and rolled around the biscuit box for a while, wondering whether to eat it or not...
Harry didn't notice anything touching the spell he had cast on the door, but what he saw left no doubt that the little snake had been here.He turned a quill into a wooden stick and lifted the lid of the biscuit box that was ajar, only to find that there was nothing left inside but a few biscuit crumbs.Harry smiled silently. It seemed that he had to use other methods to catch the little snake.
Nagini was very happy, she ate well at Harry's.While doing his homework, Tom listened to Miss Snake's report. Finally, he patted Nagini on the head and asked her whether she would eat one biscuit a day or just have it all at once.
"Let's keep it for now." Nagini replied while twisting, she could barely move now.
Tom wasn't surprised, and focused entirely on his thesis.
Nagini smelled the cookies again the next day when he slipped into Harry's office. She walked around the office carefully first, and climbed onto Harry's desk after making sure that there was no one in the office. There was still a gap in the biscuit box, and Nagini happily slipped in, but as soon as she got in, the lid closed immediately.
Nagini was shocked, and immediately bumped his head on the lid of the box, only to find that the paper lid was as hard as an iron plate, and there was nothing in the box except a pile of biscuit crumbs. She didn't realize that Harry had enchanted the box at all, and she couldn't escape from the box, she could only keep banging around.
This is too bad, Tom will throw her out!
However, the dark confinement did not last long, and Harry returned soon.Nagini sensed Harry's entry with his naturally keen senses, and fell silent to wait for the time to exit.Tom said that Harry couldn't find out, and she didn't want to make Tom unhappy because of this.
Harry noticed the lid of the biscuit tin on the table was closed, and smiled slightly. He opened the lid of the box with magic, and saw that the little snake that bit him last time was coiling itself into a disk, looking up at him vigilantly, and spitting out a bright red letter.
"Nice to see you again, you've grown up a lot," Harry said in Parseltongue, hissing. "You've eaten all my biscuits again."
"Nagini." Tom suddenly stopped the little snake that was about to wrap itself around Arafat's wrist, "There is something I need you to do."
"What is it?" As soon as Nagini heard that there was a mission, he immediately left Alpha and came over.
