[HP] Dearest Enemy

Chapter 115 Event 8: Confrontation with the Future and the Past

"I don't understand why Tom still wants to be Voldemort." Harry said after a moment of silence, "He knows that's the last thing you want to see, but you don't seem to be angry."

The man was silent for a while, then raised his head and looked at the teenager sitting opposite him: "He will do this not only to not violate history. Tom is a very stubborn boy, once he wants to achieve something, before he fails completely, will never give up.”

"Kid?" Harry looked at him slightly surprised.

"Yes." The man bent his lips mockingly, "In my opinion, he is always my child."

Harry didn't know how to answer, so he took a sip from his teacup.

"I don't think he wanted to become Voldemort for his own ambition, as he said," said Harry slowly.

"Indeed, he didn't do it for ambition." The man pushed his glasses and sighed softly, "Have you ever thought about why he chose you as his opponent?"

Harry nodded: "Because I'm the same person as you."

"Exactly," said the man with glasses, "Tom doesn't hate Muggles in his heart, and he doesn't want to use fear to make all wizards surrender. He repeats what Voldemort did for only one purpose: he just wants to be in a safe situation. Make sure I die at your hands. This is the way Tom chose to confess for himself, because he thinks he killed me, which is the future you."

"But we're not quite the same people," said Harry, surprised. "Why did he have to arrange this? It's so stupid."

"Because I'm already dead, Harry." The man spread his hands helplessly, "It was a complete accident that I would become his godfather."

"But I don't want to kill him at all." Harry said angrily, without even realizing that he had stood up, "Even if I know that he and his men have killed many people, even if he is a heinous monster, in the past few years I never thought Tom and Voldemort were the same person!"

"But they are indeed the same person, just like me and you." The adult version of Harry said softly, "This is a fact that cannot be changed."

Harry pressed his lips together tightly, and finally lowered his head. The green-eyed man refills his already empty teacup.Harry raised his head slowly, staring at those green eyes that were both familiar and unfamiliar: "Then will you forgive him? You know what he did."

The man sitting across from Harry frowned slightly, avoided his gaze, and silently put a lump of sugar into his teacup.

"You actually forgave him long ago, but you just didn't want to admit it." Harry said softly, "You love him very much."

The man gave a wry smile, put down his sugar tweezers, and met Harry's gaze.

"How could I not love him? Although Tom is not so cute in many cases..." said the man wearing glasses, with a bitter smile on his face, "but it is impossible for him to know. Don't let him know this, ha Leigh, you don't have to pay too much attention. Tom changed your life, and now he just wants you to be happy."

"What about Tom?" Harry asked, frowning. "Would you like to see him killed by me?"

The person sitting across from him shook his head lightly: "I hope he can get happiness too, but I'm worried that he will refuse to accept it. Tom has been living in the shackles he made for himself, and maybe he doesn't want to be forgiven."

"So, leave it up to me to make the decision?" Harry asked, "Let me make it for you."

The man with green eyes looked at the young man standing in front of him through the lens, and showed a faint smile: "Didn't you realize that you have this power at all, Harry?"

"Uh...it seems so." Harry curled his mouth into a mischievous smile, then froze suddenly.

"What's wrong?" the grown-up Harry asked.

"If I went to see Tom, then I wouldn't be sent back in time," said Harry, frowning slowly. "It would make it impossible for us to adopt Tom and then—"

"If this is the question." The man interrupted Harry softly and stood up, "You can ask Dumbledore, I think someone as wise as him will give you an answer that satisfies you. It's getting late , you should go back, Harry."

Harry realized this too, and showed a regretful expression. The man with green eyes smiled, walked out of the room with his arms around the boy's shoulders.

"Won't Tom know what I'm talking to you? He's always been able to read my mind all he wants." Harry asked as he walked to the door.

"No. But I suggest you learn Occlumency. Although this magic is remote, it is very useful."

Harry nodded, then turned to look at the man beside him: "Can I still see you again?"

The adult version of Harry froze for a moment, and then showed a regretful expression: "I'm afraid we can't meet in this way again, Harry, I'm just a memory."

"But it's all so real." Harry couldn't help saying, "The tea is delicious."

The man laughed: "Because this is also your own memory."

Harry opened his mouth, and the man patted him on the shoulder, and opened the wooden door on the fence.

"Remember what you want, Harry, choose your path carefully, and don't rush to make a decision. Until the moment you make up your mind, Tom will be waiting for you."

Harry nodded vigorously, then walked out the wooden door.He saw a green-eyed man with messy hair standing behind the white fence smiling and waving to him, everything in front of him gradually became blurred until it was pitch black.Harry opened his eyes suddenly, and found himself lying in his own bedroom in Black's old house, and Sirius was knocking on the door.

"Harry, are you up? Draco has arrived." Sirius called.

"I'll be up right away," Harry replied, grabbing his clothes from the chair beside the bed.

It turned out to be just a dream, but it was as real as if it had just happened.Maybe just like what Harry saw in the dream said, this is a memory that belongs entirely to him.

Harry began to spend more time in the library than Hermione, and studied and practiced various spells more attentively than before, and seemed to be no longer interested in anything else. His friends were puzzled by Harry's behavior.

"But the Triwizard Tournament is over." Ron asked Hermione puzzled, "Then what else does he have to worry about?"

Draco rolled his eyes at Ron's words, and Hermione waved the quill impatiently: "We are already in the fifth grade, and we will take the OWLs exam in June next year. I am very happy that Harry I will work so hard for the exam."

But this time, even Hermione's words were not acknowledged by Draco, and the platinum boy who was sitting elegantly at the side flipping through the book let out a soft snort.

"What's the matter?" Ron glared at him dissatisfied, he and Draco were always at odds.

"Hermione was only half right," Draco said lazily. "OWLs are nothing to Harry."

"Is there another reason?" Hermione looked up.

Draco nodded: "You shouldn't forget why Harry became a Hogwarts warrior."

Hermione opened her eyes immediately: "You mean that Harry is preparing in advance for the confrontation with You-Know-Who."

"Very likely," Draco said, "I guess Harry must know something. There's been something wrong with him since the holidays, so Mr. Regulus Black came to my house and invited me to Black's house. Haha Leigh spent the rest of the summer at the Black family's old house."

"So did you find anything?" Hermione asked in a low voice.

Draco shook his head: "Harry locks himself in the study every day and refuses to go out. Sirius even asked for leave to take him out to play, but I think Harry doesn't want to go out at all. He will agree only because it is Sirius. Reese's invitation. He's been in a trance and no one knows what's going on with him."

"No wonder I think Harry's been acting weird this term," said Ron, "it's like—" He stopped talking, just as Harry was walking towards them with a stack of books.

Draco glanced at the titles of several books Harry had placed on the table, and frowned involuntarily.

"These are all books from the restricted section." Hermione flipped through the books and looked at Harry in surprise, "What are you looking at?"

"I need to know," Harry replied succinctly. "I have permission from Professor Snape."

Ron's mouth fell open, and Hermione stared at him blankly.

"How did you get it?" Ron asked hollowly.

"He spotted me when I sneaked into the restricted section in the middle of the night." Harry said lightly, "so I asked him for a approval slip."

"You got the approval slip from our dean?" Draco finally joined the ranks of the other two who were stunned, "How did you do that?"

Everyone knew that Snape loved finding fault with Harry.

Harry smiled: "He thinks I'm fully qualified to browse all the books in the restricted section, but I can't take them out."

"Who the hell are you!" Ron jumped up suddenly, immediately drawing dissatisfied stares from Mrs. Pince and Hermione, and lowered his voice under the girl's signal, "What did you do to Harry?"

"Who else do you think I am?" Harry looked at Ron's tense face, annoyed and funny, "I am who I am, neither drinking Polyjuice Potion nor taking the Imperius Curse, otherwise Professor Snape would have found out."

Ron opened his mouth but didn't know what to say, Hermione was still watching him suspiciously, Draco glanced at the two Gryffindors, and then turned to his dark-haired friend: "Harry, can you tell us, What happened?"

Harry looked up at his friend, and Draco felt that there seemed to be a lot buried in those emerald green eyes.

"No, nothing happened," said Harry quietly, "it's just that I want to know."

"You've learned it all, Potter," said Snape flatly. Harry had finally managed to block his Legilimency spell. "Now you can leave my office forever."

"But I haven't fully learned Legilimency yet." Harry muttered, collapsing on a wooden chair as if exhausted, panting and rubbing his temples, "That's not our agreement."

"You have fully learned Legilimency, there is no need to continue to rely on me." Snape said forcefully, "You might as well find a house-elf to try."

"That's not like a professor's advice." Harry frowned. "They don't deserve to be mistreated."

"Ten points from Gryffindor," Snape said softly, "for contradicting the Professor."

Harry stared up at him, and Snape snorted, turned and sat down behind his desk without looking at him.Harry put his hand away from rubbing his scar and stood up, walking over to Snape's desk.

"So my detention for this semester has been cancelled?" Harry asked, propping his hands on the desk.

"I'll transfer the rest of my detention to Filch," said Snape. "Do you have any questions?"

"No." Harry replied, standing up straight, "Thank you for sacrificing your rest time to teach me these two kinds of magic, Professor Snape, I don't think you will see me in this office again. Good night, Professor Snape."

With that said, Harry picked up his schoolbag and left, Snape staring at him as he slammed the door shut and let out a long breath.

This kid is a nightmare for him.

The professors at Hogwarts had to participate in the night patrol, and Snape was naturally not exempt.During his tour of the castle last month, he had caught Potter wandering around in the Invisibility Cloak in the Restricted Section.Potter shared his father's nocturnal castle wanderings, and Snape had never caught him yet, but this time he finally succeeded.Potter has been reluctant to answer why he was wandering in such a place, but when he deducted fifty points from Gryffindor and proposed to lock him up for a month, Potter, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke.

"Professors shouldn't confine their students for more than a week for night tours. Although the faculty meeting will not emphasize this, every professor knows this charter when they accept this job. You are abusing your power, Sne Professor Pu. I will not protest to Professor McGonagall or Professor Dumbledore, I was not caught by you on purpose for this."

"Say it again, Mr. Potter?" Snape narrowed his eyes and stared at the innocent boy, as if the person who had just been deducted fifty points was someone else.

"I need to look up something, but the related books are all in the restricted section." Harry looked into those black eyes and said calmly, "I hope you can give me a approval slip that allows me to view all the books in the restricted section , and I hope you can teach me Occlumency and Legilimency."

Snape stared at him for a while, then leaned closer to the daring young man, and asked him in a dark and slow tone: "Another ten points from Gryffindor. Then tell me, Mr. Potter, why should I accept it?" Your rude demands?"

Harry wasn't afraid at all, and his expression was quite relaxed: "First, I need some knowledge of the restricted area to deal with Voldemort, and the reasons for learning Legilimency and Occlumency are the same as above; Do something meaningful; and thirdly, if you don't agree to my request, then I will write to my mother and tell her that you have treated her from the first moment you saw her—"

"Shut up!" Snape grabbed Harry by the collar and pushed him against the wall next to him, "How dare you...do you think you can threaten me with these things?"

"Of course I can, sir." There was a slight smile on the corner of Harry's lips, "Speaking of which, I would like to thank you on behalf of my mother. If it wasn't for your request, maybe she would have been with my father and Merlin a long time ago. Going to drink tea."

The pupils of the black eyes tightened, and Snape stared at the green-eyed boy with a livid face, and the hand that grabbed Harry's neckline was trembling slightly: "Why do you..."

Harry pointed at his scar unhurriedly: "I saw Voldemort's memory, so I need to learn Occlumency. I'm sorry, but I sincerely hope you can help me, Professor Snape. "

Snape stared at Harry for a long time before finally letting go of his collar.

"Another fifty points from Gryffindor," he said, his lips still trembling slightly. "Resolution every Tuesday, Thursday, and weekend until the end of term. Now, go back to your bed and sleep!"

Harry didn't object, and even bowed him quite politely and said good night.Snape silently watched the back of the boy leaving, and suddenly realized that the boy was no longer afraid of him at all.
