[HP] Dearest Enemy

Chapter 103 Event 3: Dumbledore's doubts

"...Alfart stays, the others disband."

Alfat, who was sitting by the door, raised his eyes, but he didn't look at the dark-eyed man sitting on the other side of the room. The other wizards and wizards in the drawing room took turns walking up to the man, kissing the hem of his robes and then exiting respectfully, except themselves.Mulciber glanced at Arfart when he passed by him, and he knew how vicious his eyes were without looking.

The last person closed the door when leaving the room, and the tall and gorgeous room immediately became very empty.Alphat didn't move, his eyes were still on the ground.

"Al, come here."

This is not a request, but an order.Arafat stood up and walked over to the man sitting in the ornate armchair. The person sitting high on the chair changed his sitting posture, put his legs on the other leg casually, supported his head with his right hand, and wore a rough black gemstone gold ring on the index finger of his left hand.

"Master please order." Alphat knelt down on one knee in front of him.

The man known as the master did not give an order immediately, but lowered his eyes and looked at the person who was prostrate in front of him for a while: "You are not happy, Al."

Alfat frowned, lowered his head even lower: "Don't dare."

The person in the seat snorted coldly: "I know what you're thinking, you've been with me for so many years, don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Stand up."

Arfat obediently stood up straight, but still lowered his eyes not to look at the person in front of him.The man in the seat sighed, then stood up, reaching up and lifting Arfate's jaw, forcing him to look at him.

"I said, you don't have to be so reserved when there is no one else." Tom frowned slightly.

"You are the master." Alphat replied calmly.

"Do you blame me for keeping you out of those missions?" Tom looked into those gray eyes. "Or do you blame me for not giving you the Dark Mark but still letting you in the Death Eater meeting?"

Alfred didn't answer, but turned his head to one side.

"You are different from them. That is the job of a servant, the mark of a servant."

"I don't think so." Alphat pursed his lips.

"You think it's what a servant does just to help me manage the mansion and study." Tom turned his face to face himself, "I hope you answer me honestly, Al."

Alphard stared at those black eyes for a moment, then lowered his eyes.

"You are the master." Arfat whispered, "I can only be regarded as half a housekeeper at best."

Tom stared at Alfred for a few seconds, then let go.

"Follow me." After Tom finished speaking, he turned and walked towards a nearby small door, and Alphat followed without saying a word.

The two came to the study upstairs one after the other. This manor was a Christmas gift from Lucius Malfoy, who had just become a Death Eater last year, to Voldemort. Before that, it was the ancestral home of the Palampion family.Seven years ago the last Palumpenn girl married a Muggle-born wizard, and the ancient name was lost forever.Lord Dark Lord liked this great gift from Lucius very much, and moved in the next day.Now it has become the base camp of Death Eaters.

Tom closed the study door, picked up a pale yellow envelope from the desk, and handed it to Alfred.

"This is your letter." Tom sat down at the desk, "Dumbledore sent you an invitation."

Alfart stared at Tom, who had already picked up a document and read it: "I'll give you a day off to see him. Tell Dumbledore for me that he just needs to do his job well in the International Union of Wizards." The president of the society and the headmaster of Hogwarts are enough, don't meddle in my business, I don't want to die in his hands."

"Have you read all the letters he wrote to you?" Arafat asked in surprise. As long as the letter is signed by Dumbledore, Tom will not open it at all, he will throw the letter directly into the fireplace.

"No, but I know what he wants to say." Tom sneered, "The person who knows you best is your enemy, isn't he? Even the freshmen at Hogwarts know that Dumbledore wants to kill me."

Tom picked up a document and began to read it.Alphard looked at Tom with some concern, and the letter in his hand suddenly became hot, almost making him unable to hold it.

"You might as well tell him the mission I gave Travers." Tom said without looking up, "and then ask me how many of his precious members of the Order of the Phoenix he intends to take to protect the Muggle MP who knows nothing."

"This--"

"Here's an order." Tom interrupted him nonchalantly. "I want to see you at the nine o'clock meeting the night after tomorrow. You can go now."

"...Yes, Master." Alfred lowered his eyes, bowed to Tom, and left.

After the study door was closed, Tom looked up.When will this guy Al understand why he treats him like this?Or did he say that he shouldn't have agreed to let him join the team in the first place? If his attitude had been tougher at that time... Tom threw the documents in his hand on the table irritably, then leaned back in the chair, staring absently at the photo of himself and Harry on the table. It was a photo of him and Harry before he entered school, without using magic potion to develop the print, and the black and white photo showed the frozen smiles of the two of them. It's less than three years, Harry, and then I can go see you.

"Nagini," Tom called to his pet in Parseltongue, and Nagini slid silently to his feet in no time.

"Tom?"

"We're going for a walk in the town down the mountain tonight, do you want to go?"

"Any cookies?" Nagini asked reflexively.

Tom smiled: "Of course."

Arafat stood at the school gate for a while before going in.He soon saw Dumbledore wearing a purple robe, the old man walked towards him vigorously, and the two shook hands.

Not seen for many years, Dumbledore's beard and hair turned gray, which made him look much older.

"Let's go to the lake to talk," said Dumbledore succinctly.Alpha nodded. To be honest, he didn't fully understand why Dumbledore wanted to see him.

"Sirius told me, you're not a Death Eater?" Dumbledore asked.

Sirius ran away from home after a quarrel with his parents a year ago, and has been staying at the home of his friend James Potter. After Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor, he began to be at odds with his family, and Alphard had also heard about his evil deeds in school.Sirius even distanced himself from his younger brother Regulus, who admired Voldemort, and never contacted him after knowing that he was in and out of Palampion Manor.

Alfart frowned slightly: "Why did he say that?"

"You never participated in the activities of the Death Eaters, and Sirius thought you might not be a Death Eater." Dumbledore said solemnly.

"He's right, I really don't have that mark on my body." Arafate replied after a while, "Is Sirius okay?"

"He's in the Order of the Phoenix now, you know, and he graduated in July," said Dumbledore. "Since you're not a Death Eater, why are you supporting him? You're not a supporter of blood theory. "

Alfred didn't answer, and Dumbledore pointed out his embarrassing identity tactfully.Alfat didn't believe that this was Sirius' speculation. His rebellious nephew was indeed very smart, but he probably wouldn't put this thought into guessing his own identity.Everyone knows that when Tom was a pure-blood supporter, he was already his most trusted friend, and he was also the first group of people who asked to join the Death Eater team. But what's ridiculous is that although I have obtained the qualification to observe every task, I still can't participate in it.

Dumbledore's question annoyed him.

"I'm sorry, Professor Dumbledore. If your purpose is to persuade me to leave Abertillery, then our conversation will come to an end." Alfart said flatly, "I just accept your order according to the Dark Lord's order." Invitation. I am not a Death Eater, but serve him as well."

"As I recall, you were loyal to him at school," said Dumbledore. "You have a special place among his followers, Mr. Black."

Alfred didn't make a sound.

"Please forgive my offense." Dumbledore's tone began to soften, "I think Tom probably thinks you are still his friend, not a servant."

"I, like the Death Eaters, call him master." Alphard said nonchalantly, "I also said the oath of the Death Eaters."

"But you will always be different from them," said Dumbledore.

Arafat remembered the jealousy and contempt in Mulciber's eyes every time he looked at him.He knew the gossip among the Death Eaters, and shared Mulciber's thorn in his side: "But what's the difference?"

Dumbledore sighed: "20 years ago, from the month Harry just disappeared to Christmas Eve, you were the one who taught the students, right?"

Alphat froze for a moment, then watched his old professor warily.

"I speculate that you may have taken Polyjuice Potion." Dumbledore said, "Tom was obviously absent-minded during that time, and the only person who could make him appear this way was Harry."

Dumbledore was telling the truth, and Arafat finally had to nod in admission.

"You knew Harry was dead, and you helped him bury Harry at Hogwarts, keeping his secret." Dumbledore said, "He can't trust anyone but you. He doesn't give you blackmail." Magic Marks are there for a reason."

"But I don't know why." Arafat said calmly, "I just feel his alienation."

Alphard is used to the inner torment brought about by this kind of estrangement.Tom kept himself at a distance, and so did he.

"Did Tom tell you about Harry?" asked Dumbledore.Alfred shook his head. Since Harry's death, Tom seldom mentioned Harry.

"Then Tom didn't tell you that Harry wasn't really of the same age as us?"

Alfat looked at the elders beside him in surprise: "I'm sorry, what do you mean by not being from the same era?"

"Harry is from the future," said Dumbledore. "He appeared before us by an extremely coincidental circumstance, and changed history that he did not experience. Tom knows everything about him."

"It's unbelievable," Arafat said after a while.

"Harry kept a diary every day during the months when he lived in seclusion with me," said Dumbledore. "According to Muggles, it should be a memoir. As far as I know, Harry put his It’s written down in that diary all my life.”

Alphard suddenly remembered a diary that Tom often looked through when he was free, and it seemed that it was indeed Harry's.

"Tom is doing the same thing as that period of history that Harry remembers." Dumbledore said sadly, "and this is the last thing Harry wants to happen."

Alphard was lost in thought. It wasn't that he hadn't been suspicious of Tom's sudden name change and his anti-Muggle comments before, but he put it all down to changes in Tom's travels that decade. It never occurred to him that any of this had anything to do with Harry.

All this is unbelievable.

"I don't believe it." Alfred shook his head, "If Tom knows this, then he can't disobey Harry's wishes."

He knew how much Tom loved that man, and besides, these words came from Dumbledore who had always opposed and wanted to kill Tom.

"This is not speculation, it is fact." Dumbledore said, "Tom is a genius, even I can't stop him from going the way he wants to go. Harry once asked me to take good care of this child, but I can't do it .”

Alfart was not sure if Dumbledore's words were a lie, but it undoubtedly aroused his doubts and curiosity: "So, what do you want to know?"

"Tom's intentions and ideas." Dumbledore said, "Tom has been avoiding me all these years, and I have never been able to find out the purpose of his doing these things. The fact that you are not a Death Eater gave me a glimmer of hope. He may I don't want to be a demon king that makes everyone afraid to call him by his name."

Is it really?Alphat felt his confusion getting deeper and deeper.
