dumb wizard

Chapter 23 Christmas

Christmas is finally here in everyone's long-awaited way.

Hogwarts has become deserted, without the laughing little wizards, Hogwarts is just an old castle, not the cradle of the British wizarding world.

Xiu finally chose to stay in school, and he was alone in the Ravenclaw tower, and the huge space showed a sense of loneliness.

Early in the morning, Xiu had breakfast and went back to sleep soon after. It was too cold in winter, and the temptation of being in bed was not something Xiu could resist.

Unexpectedly, he fell asleep until one o'clock in the afternoon. After Xiu washed up, he counted the prepared gifts again, and after confirming that they were correct, he clapped his hands and summoned Gavin Goshawk.

Xiu didn't let Gavin live in the owl shed at Hogwarts, but hung his cage by the window.Gavin is spiritual, he doesn't mess around, and eats with aristocratic elegance, which has always made Xiu feel at ease.

It's just that Xiu hasn't used it in the past few months, which made him a little dissatisfied. Hearing Xiu's clapping, he spread his wings and flew to his shoulder, gently pecking his arm to express his long-neglected resentment.

Xiu stroked its head soothingly, and took out a few photos.

Gavin let out a long cry, and raised one of his paws, looking so haughty that one couldn't help but want to suppress it.

But Xiu just smiled, took one from the pile of gifts and tied it to its paw, pointed to the first photo, and touched its sharp beak.

Gavin let out a short cry, spread his wings and flew out of the window.

Xiu tidied up the bedroom a bit, then left the Ravenclaw tower and walked towards the Hufflepuff dormitory.

The food at Hogwarts didn't suit his taste very much, and he didn't like to make small meals often, and there were very few people in Hogwarts during the holidays, so he was determined not to wrong his stomach again.

Xiu has always disliked house elves, creatures that affect the city's appearance and like to abuse themselves. As soon as he entered the kitchen, he automatically picked out ingredients and got busy.

Poor house-elves have been banging their heads against walls and tearing their ears since they entered the door.

He weighed the pigeon that had been plucked and eviscerated, and thought of the gloomy and indifferent man in the cellar for no reason. With a heartbeat, he decided what to do.

I drew a sketch of a saucepan in a notebook, and found an elf who was still sobbing loudly and pulling his ears, and pointed to the sketch to indicate that he needed this thing.

The house-elf, who finally came in handy, stopped punishing himself immediately, and dug out a standard saucepan in the corner under the jealous eyes of the rest of the house-elves.

Xiu was a little surprised. He thought that there would be no such things in the purely westernized Hogwarts kitchens. He was already ready to wait for the house elves to buy them temporarily. But after thinking about it, Hogwarts also has Chinese students, and it may be prepared for them.

It's just that this pot, no matter how you look at it, looks like it hasn't been used for hundreds of years.

Signal the elf to clean the saucepan and put it on the stove.Xiu cut open the belly of the squab on the chopping board, and stuffed it with goji berry, angelica, American ginseng and other nourishing herbs (don’t ask me where these things come from, just think that the Hogwarts kitchen has everything !), put in a saucepan, add water, and bring to a simmer.

After finishing this work, Xiu cooked white porridge for himself, cooked tofu with shiitake mushrooms, baby vegetables with papaya, and Kung Pao chicken, and finished the meal by the stove.

After filling his stomach, Xiu looked at the heat of the stew pot, then rolled up his sleeves and picked out the ingredients he needed again.

When everything was done, it was already close to dinner time, Xiu clapped his hands, it was just right!

Checking the squab in the saucepan, the heat was still not enough. Thinking that Gavin should be back, he decided to give away the remaining presents. After all, the Christmas presents should be delivered to the other party before Christmas morning.

Back at the Ravenclaw Tower, Gavin was standing proudly on his cage, his proud eagle head slightly raised, showing a look of disdain.

Xiu fed it some meat strips that he had just made, and Gavin expressed his love with a high-pitched tweet.

Xiu put the remaining presents and photos correspondingly, and asked Gavin to deliver them in batches.Xiu cast a shrinking spell on each gift to make it easier for Gavin to grab.Gavin took a moment to understand the master's order, grabbed a gift and flew out.

If it weren't for the strong atmosphere of Christmas in Hogwarts, Xiu, who has never been this kind of festival, really wouldn't think of preparing gifts.

Tomorrow is Christmas. It seems that there is a Christmas dinner at Hogwarts on Christmas Eve, and all the teachers and students staying at the school will be there.

Xiu, who only remembered this incident now, looked at the delicious Chinese food on the stove, hesitating in his heart.

Maybe it was for nothing.

With a flat mouth, Xiu decided to try his luck. Maybe Professor Snape hasn't gone to the auditorium yet, maybe he is more willing to try his own craft than the constant Christmas dinner at Hogwarts?

With this thought in mind, Xiu went back to the kitchen and looked at the squab that had been simmering on the stove for more than three hours, and it was just right.

Putting all the dishes on the tray, Xiu headed for the cellar.

When he reached the cellar door, the snake on the doorknob hissed at him a few times and opened the door.

Almost the moment the door opened, Snape's sharp eyes met Shang Xiu's amber eyes. His left hand was still pressing on the doorknob of the laboratory door, and the magic wand in his right hand was pointing at Xiu.Very well, Xiu interrupted Snape's research again.

Seeing that it was Xiu, Snape let go of his vigilance and replaced it with anger, "Mr. White, has your brain been eaten by a troll? I don't think I invited you to visit my office."

Xiu put the tray on the table, shook his sore arms, smiled at Snape with a dark face, and looked at him with expectant eyes.

Facing those eyes, no one would be willing to lose his temper. The corners of Snape's mouth twitched a few times, and he turned back to the laboratory to dispose of the potion that was destroyed by Xiu's sudden arrival. Used a few to clean up and walk out.

Xiu sat on the exclusive sofa, with his legs together and his hands neatly placed on his knees, showing the appearance of an obedient student.

The veins on Snape's forehead were obvious, and in order not to be tempted to spray the venom on him, Snape turned his eyes to the food on the table.

"You did it again?" Snape asked, raising an eyebrow. His unconscious little movement made Xiu's heart tremble.

Xiu nodded.

Snape moved his mouth, and finally swallowed back the venom that was meant to satirize Xiu as a house elf.

In any case, it is he who benefits. After eating the craftsmanship of house elves for so many years, no matter how delicious it is, I will get tired of it, not to mention that Xiu's craftsmanship is better than that of elves.

Xiu thought for a while and wrote: "Christmas dinner..." Just after writing two words, Snape said coldly: "Don't worry about it."

Now that Snape said so, Xiu naturally "forgot" about the Christmas dinner.

Snape was quite used to Xiu's endless variety of delicacies, so Xiu got off the sofa, knelt on the soft carpet, wrote down the names of the dishes in his notebook, and pointed them out to Snape.

Lotus seed soup, steamed mandarin fish, sweet and sour pork ribs, shredded pork with fish flavor, white meat with garlic paste, twice-cooked pork.

Hugh knew that Snape preferred meat, so he mostly followed his habit.

Snape didn't care about the name, so he picked up the chopsticks and ate it directly.

Speaking of Snape learning how to use chopsticks, Xiu felt that it was a hard and sweaty road.

Chopsticks are indeed difficult for non-Oriental natives to learn, even Snape suffered from Waterloo on this. When the piece of meat that was finally caught fell down again, facing Xiu's suppressed smile, Snape's venom mode was fully activated, criticizing Xiu from the beginning to the end.Fortunately, after a few times, Snape finally mastered the method, and he is quite used to it now.

Xiu found himself enjoying watching Snape eat.

His slender, pale fingers hold the black wooden chopsticks gracefully, and he never opens his mouth when there is food in his mouth, nor does he open and close his mouth ugly when chewing. When encountering a food he particularly likes, his eyebrows will be raised slightly in a subtle way. At this time, Xiu will write down the dish and plan to cook it again.

Suddenly green flames sprang up from the fireplace, and Xiu was startled. Dumbledore's head appeared in the fireplace, "Severus, the Christmas dinner has begun, why do you..." He suddenly stopped, "Oh! Xiu , so you are here."

Dumbledore glanced at Snape, "Severus, I'm so glad to see you and Xiu have such a good relationship."

Snape put the chopsticks on the tray, folded his arms around his chest, and looked coldly at the head in the fireplace, "Dumbledore, are your eyes also occupied by those weird sweets? Which of your eyes saw me and Mr. White is on good terms?"

Dumbledore didn't answer his words, and changed the subject with a smile, "Oh! What a wonderful aroma! Hogwarts house elves are better at craftsmanship."

"Dumbledore, I think you know better than anyone that these things were made by Mr. White, who loves to be a house-elf." Snape glanced at the expressionless Xiu.

"Ah, I didn't expect Xiu's cooking skills to be so good. You are so lucky, Severus. So, it seems that you don't plan to attend the Christmas dinner?" Dumbledore's smile remained unchanged.

Snape's lips curled up in a sarcastic arc, "I think that's pretty clear."

"Oh, well, have a nice Christmas Eve." Dumbledore's head disappeared from the fireplace.

Snape glanced at Xiu, said nothing, and picked up chopsticks to eat again.Hugh acted as if Dumbledore had never been there at all, tilting his head slightly, watching Snape's graceful movements with some fascination.

When Snape put down his chopsticks again, Xiu still looked at him blankly, his expression was a little dull, which made Snape feel an inexplicable joy in his heart.

After a while, Xiu suddenly came back to his senses, looking at Snape with playful black eyes, his face was inexplicably hot.Realizing that Snape had finished eating, he stood up hastily and reached over to clear away the dishes.

There was a bit too much to cook today, and Snape didn't eat all of it.Xiu silently recorded which ones he ate more and which ones left over.
