The Last Kabakans

Chapter 72 Pendants

There was a bonfire in the broken house, which was much warmer than outside. After eating the potatoes, the little boy fell asleep next to Joshua.

Gad tucked the blankets for the two of them, sat by the fire, and asked the fat man, "Did he also come with the guards from the engineering camp?"

"I don't know," said the fat man. "I've been in the basement."

Even Little Curly didn't believe it this time.

The fat man hurriedly explained: "Hey, sir, don't look at me like that, I'm telling the truth. I think he's quite pitiful, why don't you keep him?"

Little Curly looked at Debella helplessly, he couldn't be such a big master.

"Don't ask me." Debella said, flicking the fire in front of her.

He looked at Gard again.

"He seems to like the kid quite a bit," said Little Curly.

"How do you know?" Gad asked.

Little Curly: "Straight... Intuition..."

"Do you think I like this kid too?"

"Anyway... anyway... you shouldn't hate it..."

Gad: "..."

The little curly hair said in his heart, forget me for talking too much.

Snoring soon sounded in the room. The fat man and the little curly hair were both sleeping soundly, and they could occasionally hear their teeth grinding, probably because the rations just now were too little and they were not full.

"Why, not used to it?" De Bella asked.

Gad looked at the fire in front of him and was a little absent-minded, as if he didn't hear Debella asking him.

After a few seconds, he suddenly asked, "Don't you have something to say?"

"Ah, that's right!"

Debella seemed to remember something suddenly, she put the poker aside with a smile, and took out a round thing from her bosom and handed it over.

"This thing should be his."

Gad did not answer: "Then what are you doing for me?"

De Bella: "Do you think I will give him his ability?"

After speaking, Debella stuffed the things into Gad's hands.

It was a simple pendant, with a pattern of wisteria flowers inlaid around the drop-shaped gemstone. The back was made of smooth metal, and engraved with a few small cursive letters, which should be the abbreviation of the jewelry store's signboard.

The gem is the precious Tears of Myrcella, transparent throughout, large in size and free of any impurities, and is usually used on crowns or scepters.

Because of the difficulty of cutting, small pieces are very rare, and those made into pendants like this are generally an arty pastime for nobles or rich people.

Gad lifted the top cover inlaid with gems, and there was a group photo inside.

The man in the photo is in military uniform, looking into the distance with a solemn expression, while the woman is wearing a veil, leaning her head slightly towards the man, with a gentle and reserved smile on her face.

"Who is this?" Gad asked, his eyes falling on the man's shoulders and chest.

"General Samuel when he was young," De Bella said with a smile, "it can't be seen that he loved his wife very much, right?"

No matter how clear the photo was, it was only about the size of a fingernail after all, and Joshua looked neither like his father nor his mother, so Gad was not sure at first.

Gad asked, "Where did you get it?"

De Bella said, "Stole."

Gad thought to himself, no wonder you can hack into other people's databases, it turns out that you even turned over other people's windows.

He closed the lid, turned it over and looked at the back, and confirmed that it was indeed just a pendant.

"Why are you stealing it?" Gad said, "This thing is not easy to sell."

Dai Bella smiled proudly: "This is the foresight of the Kabakan star, and it is exclusive to Omega!"

Gad shook his head helplessly.

"How much do you know about him?" Gad asked. "The general."

Dai Bella: "I can't say I understand it, I have seen it a few times from a distance."

Gad thought that De Bella was looking for revenge against Samuel, but in fact, De Bella had far more information than he imagined.

Gad: "Haven't you read those materials before?"

Dai Bella: "I wanted to watch it at first, but then something happened and I didn't have time."

She just quietly stared at the fire in front of her, and the dancing flames all sank into those bottomless eyes.

Gad didn't ask any more questions, presumably she must have had a hard time in the past few years, but she didn't go down a road of no return because of being shackled by hatred like Ajani.

"Okay, then watch it."

After a long silence, Debella yawned big.

"I'm sleepy, sleep for a while, call me in two hours."

Before falling asleep, she held the dagger tightly in her hand.

Gad stood by the fire, and the wind blew all night, so he looked at the pendant all night.

"Didn't you call me?" Dai Bella put the dagger into the scabbard, looked at the little boy curled up in the corner and asked, "Hey, what about others?"

Curly and Fatty woke up one after another, but Joshua seemed to wake up earlier than them, and the dog in the corner had disappeared.

"We must give people some privacy and space," the fat man said for no reason, then turned his head and asked Little Curly, "I want to make it easier for you, do you want the leader to come with you?"

Little Curly was a little embarrassed, blushing slightly and said, "No... no, you... go first."

The fat man walked forward, and Joshua came back on his back. The fine hair on his forehead and the skirt of his chest were all wet with water.

"There's a water pipe in the back," he said.

The little boy under the blanket arched twice, as if he had woken up, and Debella walked over to lift him up with his arms, walked to the door and kicked the little curly who was stunned there.

The room that had just been lively became silent again in an instant.

Joshua walked to the corner, picked up the covering blanket and shook it, the flying dust made him cough several times.

"Let me do it."

Gad took the blanket from him.

With nothing else to do, Joshua seemed a little reserved.

"Where's the dog?" Gad asked.

Joshua: "Outside."

Gad laughed and said, "This guy, every time he pees, he has to run a long way."

Joshua: "..."

After a brief tidying up, everyone met again to discuss what to do next.

The fat man said: "The original plan of the military department was that the last wave of people would leave with the guards, so the food reserves in the base were also emptied. But the old-fashioned water pipe at the back is connected to the artesian well, so if you drink water, you can drink water in a short time. There should be no problem."

"So that's why you hang on?" Debella asked, "Because the food was emptied??"

The fat man smiled wryly, "I didn't mean that..."

Dai Bella: "What does that mean? More than a dozen people died. I'm afraid that the military department will not be able to tell if they track it down?"

"Neither...I didn't mean that either..."

De Bella turned her eyes to the little boy, but despite her soft and hard ways, he just refused to speak.

"Forget it, you guys go!"

As soon as she sat on the mound, she instantly felt hopeless.

It is estimated that fighting with people has never been so tiring.

Not to mention the fat man and the little curly hair, even Gad himself didn't work.

Joshua sighed, then put on an amiable and smiling expression, turned around and squatted in front of the little boy.

It's up to him.
