Chapter 20 The Box in the Basement

Kerwin, who was held tightly in Shane's arms, wanted to raise his hand to clean his ears, but because Shane's arms were tightly trapped, he had no choice but to give up.

What did he hear?Shane actually resigned? That Xie En, who regards work as his belief, resigned?

"Aren't you kidding me?"

Kerwin pushed Shane's chest and found Shane's face.

Shane's gaze was deep and firm, and he nodded without hesitation after hearing what Kerwin said.

"I quit."

Kerwin felt his eyes go dark.

Although he often complained that sooner or later Shane would resign from that miser Morris, he never thought that it would be so soon.

"Thank you, you shouldn't be impulsive."

Even if Shane didn't say it now, Kerwin is very clear that the main reason for Shane's resignation is because of himself.

Kerwin believed he wasn't being self-indulgent.

"Kerwin, I think clearly." The rain dripped from Shane's hair and fell onto Shane's face, making Shane look a bit embarrassed.

But Shane's gaze was as bright as a star.

"I can't be separated from you, I can't stand you out of my sight."

When Shane was speaking, his eyes followed Kerwin closely, greedily taking every inch of Kerwin into his eyes.

"Thank you..."

Shane's gaze was deep and powerful, something Kerwin had never seen before.

But Kerwin didn't feel that the powerful Shane would make him feel oppressed, he even felt that the feeling of being in the palm of his hand was very reassuring.

"Do you want to go to the desert with me?" Kerwin smiled when he thought of this, he didn't feel any displeasure, and even put his hands on Shane's shoulders flatteringly.

Shane was able to make such a big change for him, so it was reasonable for him to make some concessions.

The introverted Shane seemed to have turned on the "uncharacteristic" switch on this rainy night, rubbing Kerwin's chin repeatedly with calloused fingers.

Kerwin stings a little, but still looks at Shane expectantly.

Shane finally nodded under Kerwin's expectant gaze.

After getting the answer, Kerwin tightened his arms, pulled Shane's head down, and stood on tiptoe so that his forehead could touch Shane's forehead.

"Although it's not fair to Ms. Marnie and Jas to say this, I'm glad you chose to be by my side."

Forgive my selfish thoughts.

Shane's hand on Kerwin's waist kept tightening. Although he didn't say anything, his smiling eyes already showed his current mood.

It is a very happy thing to be able to communicate with a lover.

But the two were not sweet for a long time.

A thunderous thunder in the sky interrupted the sweetness of the two.

Kerwin: "..."

Shane: "..."

Kerwin: "Is this a show of affection and being struck by lightning?"

But soon Kerwin knew that they hadn't just been struck by lightning.

Even heaven and earth shattered.

The violent shaking made Kerwin almost fall, and he had to grab Shane's arm to steady himself.

"Did there be an earthquake?" Kerwin asked in a panic.

Shane wasn't quite sure whether it was the earthquake or something else.

The vibration soon stabilized, and the sound of rustling rain resounded outside the window again.

Kerwin let go of Shane's grip, went to the window and drew the curtains.

It was as if nothing had happened outside the window, and there were no imagined cracks, or even the collapse of the house.

"Korwin..."

Confused, Kerwin turned his head and looked at Shane.

Shane pointed to the direction of the basement of Kerwin's house.

Kerwin then looked over.

Because there is no other reason to live with other people, Kerwin's life is very simple and not very much.Although there is a basement, it contains old objects left by Kerwin's grandfather, and Kerwin rarely goes into the basement.

But today, for some unknown reason, the basement actually glowed with light. At the same time, Kerwin felt his heart tense up.

What's going on inside?

It is impossible to know what's going on inside just by standing outside. After hesitating for a few seconds, Kerwin decided to go to the basement to see what happened.

Shane didn't know what was in the basement of Kerwin's house, but seeing Kerwin's appearance, he had an intuition that the things inside were not simple.

The light never disappeared. Kerwin briefly sorted out his emotions, and then walked into the basement with Shane.

In the center of the basement is an old table, on which Kerwin usually puts his unused tools. But at this moment, all those old tools disappeared, replaced by a box-like object.

And it is this thing that shines.

"What's that?" Shane asked.

Kerwin shook his head: "I've never seen this thing either."

Probably the ground shaking just now was because of this thing that suddenly appeared.

Kerwin walked to the side of the box, and the light gradually weakened as Kerwin got, but it didn't disappear completely.

It was a wooden hexagonal box, inside which was placed a thing similar to a slate, with several depressions of the same shape, each of which was carved with exquisite patterns.

Kerwin had never seen these patterns before, but he felt familiar for no reason.

"This is..." Shane walked to Kerwin's side, pointing to one of the patterns. "It's the mark of the Junimos."

"Junimo?" Kerwin followed Shane's fingers. "You say this is the mark of the Junimos?"

"I've seen such a sign in a book." Shane was very sure.

Kerwin nodded, and noticed another pattern: "Is this a dragon?"

Compared to the world information, Shane knew much more than Kerwin.

Shane took a closer look and nodded, "This should be the dragon's totem."

Dragon... Junimo...

Kerwin couldn't clearly say the relationship between these two patterns, but he felt that they must be related.

"Could it be that this thing has something to do with that keel?" Shane asked.

Kerwin thought of that too.

The keel that suddenly appeared...the dragon swordsman that Miss Bertie said...and the mysterious box that appeared in the basement of her house on a rainy night...

"I think, even if you stop us, we must go to the desert." Kerwin kept rubbing the dragon-shaped totem with his fingers.

Shane: "?"

Kerwin turned his head and looked at Shane standing beside him with a smile.

"Mr. Xie En, are you willing to step into this wonderful adventure with me without fear of danger?"

Xie En was taken aback for a moment, then smiled softly.

"Of course I would."
