[Pride and Prejudice] Plain water
Chapter 24
When her tears died down Anne handed her a handkerchief and she blew her nose in it.
"I have to talk to Mrs. Yang to make sure she knows what happened behind her back," Darcy said dully, "She didn't notice, she was so negligent." Older, Annie looked at him worriedly.
At this time, Annie noticed that Georgiana's expression was a little anxious and panicked, and she felt bad immediately, and asked tentatively, "Did you do this behind her back?"
Georgiana looked down at her thighs. "She helped me plan my elopement."
Annie looked at Darcy in shock and didn't know what to say. Darcy's eyes widened in shock and asked incredulously, "Did she really do that?"
Georgiana nodded sadly.Seeing this Darcy's heart ached, his sister's happiness was almost ruined by such a despicable man!
Darcy put his hands on her shoulders and encouraged her, "Don't be afraid, Georgiana," he tried to soften himself, "when you grow up you will meet a man who loves you, a well-bred, charming Yes, respectable person, who will also be liked by your family. That person will ask me to marry you with dignity and solemnity, no need to elope, you will have a grand wedding, wearing a gorgeous wedding dress and a wonderful Honeymoon to wherever you want." Annie put her hand on her own and patted it gently, comforting her and encouraging her.
"I've caused trouble for you," she said worriedly.
"No." Darcy told her softly.
But she didn't relax for Darcy's answer, and she felt guilty and wanted to cry.Anne looked at her with pity, and looking for something to divert her attention from her misfortune, she looked around the room and saw a sketch she had made.
"It's a nice drawing," said Anne. "You caught the fishing boat returning from the sea."
"Yes, I got up early to capture this, and the fishermen were amazed that I was sitting there," she said, putting her handkerchief aside as she took the picture, hearing her voice much better.
"Maybe you should finish painting it, can you finish it inside the house, or do you need to go out again?" Anne saw Georgiana's attention diverted and continued to work hard.
"No, I can finish painting here, I have accumulated enough material." Georgiana is very devoted to what she likes.
Anne gave Darcy a wink, and Darcy said knowingly: "Very well, then I will let you stay alone for a while, we have something to talk to Mrs. Yang."
"You're not mad at her, are you?" Georgiana asked worriedly.
"I will be very angry with her, she will pack up and leave here immediately." Darcy hated Mrs. Yang's behavior very much.
The conversation with Mrs. Yang did not go well.At first she denied knowing anything about the relationship, saying she never let Wickham into the house and in fact she didn't know the man at all.
Darcy and Anne are further enraged at hearing her say Georgiana is lying, and she later backs off, admitting that she encouraged Georgiana to associate with Wickham. After further inquiry, it was found that Mrs. Yang had known Wickham for a long time, and she premeditated the first meeting between Georgiana and Wickham. She then told Wickham where they would go each day so that he could arrange a few "encounters" and then she encouraged Georgiana to invite Wickham to her house, teaching her to entertain him as a friend and then as a lover. In this regard, Darcy wished to drive her away now.
"Why can't I?" she asked rhetorically, when Darcy scolded her, "Why doesn't he get what he deserves, and a little extra pleasure, after he's been treated so badly by you."
"You leave this house immediately," Darcy thought it was ridiculous, and said to Mrs. Yang coldly, "I will send your things over there."
She looked confused, cursed under her breath, but put on her coat and cloak, grabbed her basket and left.
Anne walked to Darcy to calm him down. The most important thing now is how to deal with this matter so as not to damage Georgiana's reputation.
Darcy calmed down and immediately wrote a letter to Wickham. Mrs. Young gave him his address. Darcy told him in the letter that he must leave Ramsgate immediately. In addition, if he still tried to see or talk to Georgiana , he will completely destroy him. This time Darcy was really angry. He almost wanted to expose him, but in doing so, Georgiana's reputation would be ruined, and he could only hope that his experience with it would keep him from doing similar things in the future.
