Chapter 3

Lu Xian woke up from the dream.

The rain has stopped, and the sky outside the window is very bright, shining in through a thin layer of curtains.

He glanced at the time, it was 34:[-].

He woke up half an hour earlier than usual, and he went to bed late last night. At this time, making up for sleep is the best way to maintain energy.

But the faint irritability in his chest prevented him from falling asleep.

Lu Xian pressed his temple, walked to the window, and lit a cigarette.

He was wearing dark blue pajamas, with one hand in his trouser pocket, and looked downstairs through the window. A thick elm branch was facing his window. Most of the leaves on it had withered, and the remaining ones were gone. Just some yellow leaves.

Lu Xian took a puff of cigarette.

He suddenly remembered that many years ago, once he lost a bet with his playmates to climb the elm tree of the Song family, but fell from the tree. It was Song Yulan who carried him to the hospital on his back, and said distressedly while scolding:

——Ah Xian, does it hurt?

—Hold on, you'll be in the hospital soon.

A piece of the cigarette burned off, and the ash burned his fingertips.

Lu Xian was startled suddenly, came back from the distant memory, frowned and pressed out the cigarette butt.

In fact, he has not thought about those pasts for a long time.

Song Yulan, the name, has become a past tense long after that night.

He never misses the past.

The phone on the bedside table began to vibrate, and a familiar ringtone rang.

Lu Xian's brows were cold, she turned back and turned off the alarm clock, and walked into the bathroom.

Half an hour later, Lu Xian came down from upstairs.

He was wearing a black slim suit, and the watch on his hand shone coolly under the reflection of the light, shaking unconsciously as he walked.

When he entered the restaurant, Special Assistant Li was talking to Song Jue. When he saw him coming, he stopped the conversation and stood aside respectfully.

Lu Xian glanced at the young man drinking porridge with his head down, walked to the main seat and sat down.

He didn't speak, and the boy didn't speak either.

For a while, the dining table was so quiet that even the sound of breathing could be heard.

When he used up the last bit of food and put down the knife and fork, the young man raised his head, his face was a little pale, and he asked in a low voice with an anxious expression, "Can Uncle Lu take me to school today?"

Lu Xian paused, took a sip of coffee, and heard Li Tezhu speak quickly.

"Young master, I have just told you that all your affairs are in charge of me and the housekeeper. I will send you to school later, and I have completed the transfer procedures. If you have any questions, you can directly contact me Or the housekeeper, don't disturb Mr. Lu."

The boy turned a deaf ear and looked at him rather stubbornly.

Lu Xian put down the coffee in his hand.

The porcelain cup knocked against the table and made a slight sound, but the young man seemed to be taken aback, and hurriedly lowered his eyes, not daring to look at Lu Xian again.

Lu Xian didn't look at him either, but looked calmly at the swaying coffee in the cup, and he said neither salty nor weak, "Song Jue."

"I don't know what gave you the illusion, but I'm not a charity here. Your father and I are old friends and old friends. But that little affection ends here."

He raised his eyes and looked directly at the boy, "If you can't show your value, then I'm sorry, I can adopt you, and I can send you back."

The boy's eyes gradually turned red when they looked at each other, and he silently lowered his head without saying a word.

Lu Xian didn't look at him again, he took out a wet tissue and wiped the corners of his mouth, and was about to leave.

When passing by Song Jue, he felt something grabbing the hem of his clothes.

He looked down and saw that it was the boy's hand.

Lu Xian's eyes moved up slowly, looking at Song Jue calmly.

Seeing the boy trembling, he couldn't help but let go of his hand.

Lu Xian walked out and took the dark gray coat from the butler at the gate. While putting on the coat, he said softly, "He lost his parents just now, so he will be sent to school after two days."

The butler smiled and said yes.

It takes only 25 minutes to drive from Lujia to the company.

Lu Xian is the youngest son of the Lu family's generation, but he surpassed his two elder brothers and took over the Lu family. At the beginning, everyone was not convinced, and many people were ready to move.

But since he took office, every major decision he has made has brought huge benefits to the company, and gradually, those opposing voices have disappeared.

Lu's father passed away early, and Mr. Lu is getting old. Anyone with a discerning eye can see who will be the next generation in power, so naturally they will not deliberately oppose it.

But they didn't know that Lu Xian once had a quarrel with his family because of a man, and was almost severed and kicked out. Even though he now holds a large amount of Lu's shares, he signed an agreement with Mr. Lu.

Lu Xian must adopt an elder brother's son, teach him to be a qualified heir, and transfer all the shares under his name from Mr. Lu to the heir when he is unable to serve as the president of the Lu family.

This is Lu Xian's request.

He will not marry a wife and have children, nor will he find someone to be a surrogate. As long as the Lu family does not interfere with his life, he will give the Lu family an excellent heir.

At that time, after listening to Mr. Lu, he looked at him for a long time before he sighed leisurely, "You like the Song family boy so much?"

Lu Xian shook his head, "I don't like it anymore."

His voice was calm and rational, "I just suddenly realized that things like love are dispensable and not worth chasing."

Mr. Lu was silent for a long time, and finally nodded.

"Mr. Lu?"

The secretary's voice woke Lu Xian up from his light sleep. Xu slept too late last night, so he lost consciousness in the car and dreamed of the scene of negotiating with the old man.

Song Yulan was married at that time, and he returned to Lu's house and proposed this condition to the old man.

The old man still thinks that he is unrequited love.

But only he himself knew that he was really bored.

When I was a teenager, I thought that love was everything, and I would dig my heart and soul for it, and I would never regret it.

But in fact, what is love?

It's just a little illusion of excessive secretion of phenylethylamine.

After the impulse passes, nothing remains.

Lu Xian pursed her lips, got out of the car and walked into the company.

Yesterday, due to personal travel, I piled up work and processed documents until late at night, but today I am relatively free.

Lu Xian twirled the pen in his hand and was about to take a rest in the lounge when he received a call.

He glanced at the caller ID, frowned slightly, and pressed the answer button after thinking about it.

"Lu Xian, I'm downstairs in the Lu family, I want to see you."

The clear and pleasant voice of the young man came through the phone, with faint tension.

Lu Xian glanced at his watch, it was 25:[-] in the afternoon.

As usual, it was his lunch break.

He frowned slightly, tapped the pen on the table lightly, and replied after not thinking for a long time, "I'll ask Secretary Yu to pick you up."

He paused, then said, "Mo An, just this once."

The author says:

Mo An: I'm a subject who cannon fodder as soon as I appear on the stage.

Song Yulan: I am a cannon fodder who died before I appeared on the stage.

Song Jue: I am...
