Chapter 79 Childhood

When Tazito turned 12 and was two months away, the most anticipated event was his birthday party. He promised to invite the class to a party at home on his birthday, and claimed that he would steal alcohol and cigarettes from his house. The students are very envious.

Here's Tazito's little secret. He really just wanted to invite Elvira to his house, the new transfer student with sweet dimples and great math.

Tazito's expectations didn't last long, however. One day when he came home from school, he was blocked by piles of suitcases. What greeted him was his mother's apology, and a bolt from the blue.

The galactic lady—that's what Tazito always called his mother, Caitlin—said: "We've got to get out of here, Charles. Papa has found us a big house in the Eye Star, and we're moving there. .”

Tazito's little head couldn't handle the sudden turn of events, and the questions kept coming up: "We're moving? Why?... But what about my birthday party?? Will we be back? Where's Dad?"

Caitlin shook her head.Tazito was annoyed: "But I don't want to move!" He grabbed Caitlin's clothes, leaned back to reiterate his position, but stopped before he could say it a second time.He suddenly realized that his mother looked very sad.Her eyes were red and her face was slack, as if she had just cried.

That was beyond Tazito's comprehension, the stress and pain of an adult. He always thought that the pain was far away, but it appeared on the face of the person he loved the most.Tazito's anger disappeared. He took Caitlin's hand and said reassuringly, "It will be alright, Caitlin, I promise."

The soft fingers of a child caressed the mother's palm, and Caitlin looked down at her child, burst into tears, knelt down and hugged Tazito.

"I'm sorry..." she cried, "Daddy offended someone who shouldn't be offended, and we have to leave. It's going to be okay, it's going to be okay...don't blame Daddy, okay, baby, he gave too much for us gone."

Tazito was infected by his mother's emotions, and felt a little fear of the future in his heart. He frowned, made a brave face, and solemnly promised that he would love them forever and never mention the birthday party again.

While waiting for his father's car to return, Tazito still couldn't let go of his frustration. He quietly went to Elvira. She lived next door to his house, and Tazito climbed the fence and threw pebbles at her window.

"I'm going to Magic Eye, my dad said it's cool, and I don't have to go to school there." Tazito said, sitting on the fence.

"Cool," said the blond 12-year-old girl sitting on the windowsill on the second floor, "what about your party?"

"I'll be back," Tazito said confidently, "but before that, remember to contact me, and I'll contact you too, it's a deal."

"Okay," Elvira shrugged, "it doesn't sound bad. At least you don't want to miss any reading assignments."

They laughed, and as Tazito was about to jump off the wall, Elvira called his name.

"Hey, Charles Martino!"

Tazito turned his head, raised his hand to catch the small thing that Elvira threw, and opened his hand to see that it was her small fish hairpin.

"My dad said fish would bring luck to travelers." Elvira said seriously, "You'll need it."

All the way from the Toka planet where Tazito lived to the Magic Eye planet, Tazito kept the small fish hairpin in his pocket. He seemed brooding like an adult, feeling lonely without his friends. His parents, too, were preoccupied with their own concerns, and the whole journey—an escape, as Tazito later learned—was dreary and depressing.

Father found a bigger house on Magic Eye Star than on Toka Star. But soon, Tazito discovered that life in the magic eye star is not cool at all. There is no school here, no sunshine and green grass, only wind and sand all over the sky.He lived in Magic Eye Star for more than two months, and he couldn't make any friends.

What annoys him even more is that resources are extremely scarce here, and even jelly beans have become rare items. It is said that someone used jelly beans as currency in exchange for a large carton of milk.Father told them the incident as a joke.Tazito didn't find it funny at all.

The only thing that is a little bit better than before is that his father, Dario Martino, no longer goes to work.He was always with them at home, and mother's mood gradually improved.Tazito enjoyed a rare three-person time for more than two months.Daario would play games with him to keep the overactive 12-year-old from getting into trouble.Caitlin would read with him.

Like all children who don't know suffering, the peaceful days make Tazito extremely boring and unbearable.Tazito and Elvira are still in touch, which becomes his only salvation from a boring life.He once said in a message to her, let a meteorite smash this place.Elvira said that a hurricane would be enough, and it could also open a space-time hole and drag him into a rabbit hole. They had a serious discussion about the climate trend over the Mystic Eye, and Tazito quietly prepared an emergency kit for the hurricane.

The accident happened two and a half months later.

Like all hurricanes and meteorites, it seems to appear suddenly in the clear sky, but in fact it has been brewing for a long time and is inevitable. It's cruel, violent, vicious and bloody, bringing a 12-year-old boy to adulthood in just a few hours.

The father was not at home when the incident happened. He is always at home, but he was not there that day.Tazito can remember everything that happened that day. With the passage of time, the memory has become particularly clear and hateful, and it is difficult to distinguish between true and false. But the pain is real.

That morning, Dad seemed to have received bad news. They lived in isolation and had not heard from them, good or bad, for a long time. The news that Tazito didn't know until now made his father very nervous. He rushed into each room and began to rummage through, suspecting that someone was listening to them.Caitlin sat on the living room sofa with Tazito in her arms, kept stroking his face, and told him "it's okay" and "don't be afraid".Tazito held the car and looked at his father with some fear.

"Is 'Boss' coming?" he asked his father. That was the name he had heard from his parents' discussions. The father was working for the "boss", but he messed up something, and the "boss" was very angry.

Father said impatiently: "Don't guess."

Tazito gave his mother a resentful look, and the mother shook her head at him.The bravest man in the family acted agitated with fear, which made Tazito feel bad.

After turning the house upside down, my father said that he had to go out once, and told them to stay at home and not go anywhere. When my father left, he wrapped himself tightly, and his back looked tall and bulky. He opened the door, looked back at the mother and child worriedly, and said, "Wait for me to come back." His nose and lips had firm lines, which Tazito had inherited perfectly.

Years later, Tazito still remembers that profile. At that time, my father looked like he was going to do something big, it must be something life-threatening, if it wasn't for the one he loved, he would never do it.That was the last time he saw his father alive.

After his father left, Tazito stayed in the room for a while, dragging the disaster kit from under the bed.Mother Caitlin went to the kitchen.Tazito was opening a can of beef when she appeared at the kitchen door.Still pretending that nothing happened, and said as usual: "I told you not to walk around the house barefoot, dear."

Tazito sat down on the high stool with effort, took out the treasured small fish hairpin from his pocket, and stuffed it into Caitlin's hand.Caitlin looked down at her palm and said in surprise, "This is a girl's hair clip. Where did you get it?"

"From a trustworthy one," Tazito assured with the air of a small businessman. "It's a lucky fish. Now it's yours."

Caitlin leaned over and kissed his forehead. "You really looked like your dad just now. Thanks, I'll keep it safe."

Tazito said dissatisfiedly: "I'm not like him. He has a bad temper."

Caitlin watched the troubled children with bright, gentle eyes.

"Remember the last home video we watched together?" she asked. "When you were five, your dad taught you to write the alphabet."

Tazito said he remembered, and was even more unhappy. He didn't even want to admit that the idiot in the video was him.Dad taught him literally a hundred times, but he always put the letters backwards. Now he may write the composition with ease.

Caitlin: "So, you still think he has a bad temper?"

Tazito was taken aback. He recalled that video. His hands are still very immature, he holds the pen unsteadily, writes like catching ants, and always writes backwards in despair. The video was half an hour long, and even Tazito couldn't bear to watch it, but his father taught him over and over again, patiently and gently.

"Okay," Tazito shrugged, "You convinced me, who made you the most beautiful lady in Magic Eye Star."

Caitlin laughed.Tazito looked at her with his chin resting, his bare feet swinging back and forth in the air.

They share bread and canned beef in the kitchen. At this moment, the alarm in the house rang hoarsely, and someone stepped on the infrared anti-theft net outside the house. The expressions of the mother and son changed. Caitlin rushed to the sofa in the living room, grabbed the terminal, and saw three strange men standing at the door of the house from the surveillance camera.

The door lock moved, and someone outside was trying to open the door.I tried twice, but it didn't open, and there was no movement. From the surveillance, it can be seen that the three people are digging out tools. They are going to force the door open.

Caitlin nearly dropped the terminal in fright. She rushed back to the kitchen, lifted Tazito off the stool, and said in a breathless voice, "Be quiet, follow me upstairs."

Tazito tiptoed to follow his mother upstairs. He glanced back at the living room door, and he could see a tall figure through the frosted glass window.

They were halfway up the stairs when there was a loud explosion at the door. The whole house shook, Caitlin screamed, and Tazito felt his head spin and he hit the banister, momentarily deaf from the explosion.Immediately, the metal door of the living room fell to the ground under the explosion.

Like a pair of scissors prying open the hard shell of a snail, exposing the soft body without self-protection ability.Tazito leaned on the armrest, staring at the stranger who fell like a natural disaster at the door of the house, his mind went blank.

Caitlin's firm voice woke him up: "Go to Daddy's studio!"

In the dust of the blasted wall, the three men walked in with weapons on their shoulders.Tazito ran up desperately, got into the studio, looked back for Caitlin, but saw the studio door closed in front of him.Tazito threw himself on the door nervously and pushed hard, only to hear the sound of the door being locked.

Caitlin locked the door with trembling hands, and shouted to Tazito through the door: "Go, we practiced, you can do it!"

Tazito hammered on the door and called to her mother, when Caitlin suddenly ordered, "Don't cry! Stop!"

Tazito was taken aback, and Caitlin continued, "Go to Daddy and say Mommy needs him. Come on, Charles, only you can help me!"

Tazito looked back to the window in doubt. There are ropes and tools hidden under the ledge that will help him slide through the air to the roof on the other side, where there is a ladder to the ground. It was the escape route prepared by my father just in case.He walked to the window and looked back at the door worriedly. There was silence outside the door.

Caitlin stood trembling in front of the studio door, a can opener clutched in her hand. The intruder came up the stairs and came in front of her, a full head taller than her.It made Caitlin's ready-to-die gesture ridiculous.

Caitlin stared at them fiercely with tears in her eyes, and said through gritted teeth, "You don't want to go in."

The magic eye star was still cold that day.The day was as dark as night, and the wind and sand howled like a dragon. The sky was dark, as if a disaster was about to strike, but it was another ordinary day for the magic eye star.

It was not long before Tazito returned to the door of the house again. He was wrapped in his father's long black windbreaker, with a windbreaker hood, and the clothes were so long that they were dragged to the ground and were blown wildly by the wind, exposing his bare feet that were purple from the cold from time to time.It was the only clothes he could find before he left.

He came back alone. His face was full of fear, his feet were full of small wounds, and he ran a lot.Unable to bring his father back, he decides to save Caitlin himself.

He stepped through the fallen door and ran into the house.Look around for Caitlyn.

The house was terribly quiet, there was no Caitlin on the first floor, and there were no bad guys.Tazito looked up and saw blood trickling down the stairs. He rushed upstairs, and a strong smell of blood rushed into his nostrils like bullets. He saw his mother on the second floor. She was still at the door of the studio, lying motionless, her clothes almost completely torn. She looked cold and frightened.

"Mother……"

Tazito called her softly and touched her carefully. Her body was as cold as ice, and it was no longer his familiar touch. He saw several cuts in Caitlin's abdomen, and was so frightened that he fell to the ground. He hastily covered her with his long windbreaker, and said, "I'll call the doctor..." Before he could stand up, he heard footsteps approaching behind him, and shuddered.

He turned his head and saw two tall strangers standing behind him.

"Hey, baby, we've been waiting for you for a long time." The man said with a cruel smile.
