Chapter 7 Blue Beard [2]

William ran after a hare for what seemed to be no end.

William, with his weak body, couldn't catch up with the hare at all. He stopped by the tree and bent over, panting heavily.

"What's the matter, is there anything I can do for you?" William suddenly turned his head and saw a man leaning against the ebony wood behind him.

"Nothing." William quickly looked away.

The man's eyes were as deep as the ocean, and the blue eyes seemed to hold everything in them. His waist is slender but straight, wrapped in a delicate dark dress, making people want to touch it and hold it.However, meeting such a strange-looking person in the desolate forest made William feel a little uneasy.

"By the way, do you know how to get out of the forest? I seem to be lost." William pursed his lips and looked at the stranger with the eyes of a cub, which was exactly the fear and anxiety of a 16-year-old boy who lost his way.

"Ha, kid, it's not a good idea to ask someone for directions when you get lost in the forest—haven't you heard the legend of 'Bluebeard'?" The man tilted his head and asked playfully.

"Blue Beard is only interested in those young girls. You are very funny, sir. What do you call it?" William looked back.

"Kargus, just call me Carl." The man smiled, "Maybe Blue Beard likes a little boy like you."

"Well, just turn right and go straight ahead. I'd be more than happy to help you." After he finished speaking, he stopped there, nodding his head slightly like a gentleman.

"Thank you very much. By the way, I would like to ask, are you a nobleman? Your name sounds like a nobleman. If so, please forgive me." William decided to test it out.

"Oh, I'm Bluebeard—" Kargus paused intentionally, "I——I'm Bluebeard's housekeeper." Sure enough, seeing William's expression froze for a moment, he laughed. "

"Are you afraid? Sometimes rumors are not necessarily true, and what people spread by word of mouth is more likely to be lies."

"Then, Mr. Housekeeper, thank you very much. Goodbye." After being teased, William walked back without looking back, but his steps stopped in the middle.

The sound of grass rustling opened the winter's nest, Kargus watched the direction William left, his smile froze slowly, and after a while, he smiled softly by himself as if thinking of something happy.

"I'm back." Aunt Rachel put the last dish on the table, "Don't go, you didn't catch the rabbit, sit down and eat."

William sat down with pea soup, his favorite soup.He took a deep breath, "It's been so many years since I sat at the table and ate with my family." "No, I don't even have a family, only Jacob cooks for me, and Barry."

The steaming heat of the food made William's tears almost fall. The memory of food is more profound than anything else. The temperature and taste remembered by the stomach are stored in the brain, and it is awakened by a similar temperature and taste again.People who haven't cried at meals probably never grow up.William was no longer the child who would cry at meals, although in this teenage boy's body, he had the illusion that he was a loved child.

"Aunt Rachel, have you heard of Kargus in our town?" William asked by the way while helping Aunt Rachel wash the dishes after eating.

"I've never heard of this person. Where did you hear that name?" Aunt Rachel wiped her hands on her apron.

"It's nothing, I heard someone mention it today." William put the plate into the cupboard, "I'll go back first."

"What's wrong with this kid," Aunt Rachel thought. She wanted to call William to ask what happened, but she stopped.

William was lying on his wooden bed, and what came to his mind was the man he met today. There is an elegance in his manners, if he is the butler of the "Blue Beard" Viscount, it would make sense. His incredible blue eyes seem to be riding a water demon, looking at you in the water, waiting for an opportunity to drag you into the water.William's throat tightened, and he buried his head under the pillow, trying to expel that scene from his mind, but something grabbed his heart, and the lingering shadow was like a nightmare or a ghost. There is also the unknown fate and the dark road that make it difficult for him to sleep.

The day is getting brighter.

William went to the town's market as usual, and saw a lot of people gathered in front of an area.He hurriedly squeezed in, and saw a notice stamped with a violet seal, which said: The Viscount is planning to hold a dance recently, and all young people over the age of 15 in the town are welcome to attend. He thought about it for a while, and still stood at the original place, pretending to read the notice, recalling the story of Bluebeard he knew in his heart, and listening to the conversations of the townspeople.

The people around began to discuss, "Have you heard that the Viscount is going to hold a ball again?" said a shrill voice.

"That's right, the last time it was three years ago, all the people who went to the ball voluntarily followed the viscount to the castle, and they haven't come back yet. We haven't seen the viscount yet." William heard a heavy voice, That's the butcher in the town.

"Do you still remember? It was a great honor for the viscount to choose one of the girls at the ball as his wife last time. Do you know that the dowry gift was a box full of gold, silver and jewels? I swear you've never seen it in your life." This is Mrs. Onatiline who sells jewelry.

"Then don't forget, that's his first wife," his husband interjected.

There was a lot of voices, and William quietly withdrew from the crowd, "It seems that the dance must go", he sighed, "otherwise, I won't even see Blue Beard's face."William came to a tailor shop, tailored a set of clothes that could be put on the table, and tidied himself up, "Didn't you say that all the people who participated in the ball were taken to the castle? I will pretend to be a guard and sneak in." We must also find out the background of this Lord Viscount."

Walking on the road, William saw that the clouds in the distance were burning red, and the color from the iron was caught by the sky.

"William, what are you doing? Dress so well." Aunt Rachel beckoned.

"I decided to go to the Viscount's ball tomorrow." William said to Aunt Rachel, "Don't worry, I'm just going to be a guard or a servant in the Viscount's castle. I will earn a lot of money and come back." Sincerely treats his relatives who can be called, William doesn't want her to worry.

"Don't go, listen to me. If you are short of money, tell Auntie." Aunt Rachel was anxious.

"Aunt Rachel, I know your kindness, but I've grown up, I'm just going to the castle, it's fine," William comforted her.

Aunt Rachel hesitated to speak, and could only watch William leave.

Resisting the urge to turn back, William rushed to the viscount's ball place.

Despite the eerie legend of Bluebeard, there were plenty of young people at the ball. There are too many people in this world who are chasing after interests. They are not afraid of mountains of swords and seas of fire, and their hearts are under their feet. Don’t say that what they heard is only specious legends about Bluebeard and his seven former wives who disappeared. Don't people like this who know the story of Bluebeard continue to post it?William's brows didn't loosen at all, maintaining an angle that wasn't stretched or wrinkled, and walked towards the gate of the ball.

The author has something to say:

Because of the shadow of the previous story, when I passed by a lake at night, I heard croaking frogs (so fascinating) and ran away in fright. Later, some students said that it was the cry of swans... (Khan)

I also feel that the last story made the main character less, but after all, it is a process of growth.

As a result, it says that it feels like witches and sisters have more scenes (this is pure love bl, don’t forget to shout yourself)
