Tides: Years of Dawn
Chapter 2 Wedge 1 Sea People
Crewe was getting ready for bed when Geraint crawled in through the window.
Crewe likes to close the windows before going to bed. Recently, the weather has become cooler and the seaside wind is very strong. But this week he refrained from closing the window, because Geraint sneaked out, and he didn't know when the other party would sneak back again.
Geraint violated the school's rules, so everything can only be done secretly. When he nimbly climbed up to the window on the second floor and whispered "wake up" to Crewe who was wrapped in a quilt, Crewe was startled.
Crewe rolled up the quilt and shrank to the foot of the bed, watching the moonlight outside the window beat him into a black shadow.
"Hey, it's me, I'm back." Geraint couldn't hold back his excitement, hurriedly closed the window, and rushed to Crewe's bed and sat down.
Crewe flinched a little more, and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that it was Geraint. He stretched out two octopus tentacles from under the quilt and poked Geraint's chest, as if to confirm whether he was real or not.
Of course he is.
Geraint held one of Crewe's tentacles and stuck it to his dirty clothes.
Yes, Crewe is an octopus, the sea witch of a halfling half octopus to be precise. He could transform into a human like Geraint, but he felt that it would be more convenient and efficient to have eight tentacles plus two human hands, so he always maintained the appearance of a half-body octopus.
Geraint is different.Geraint looked like a normal, playful human kid.His hair was disheveled, but there was always an expression of excitement on his face.
No one would have guessed that he was a sea snake.
"Look what I brought back." Geraint mysteriously moved the bulging but equally dirty satchel to the bed. Crewe would not think him dirty, after all, Crewe always put his own bed Get slime—that's the downside of not being fully human, Geraint reminded him countless times.
"Oh, you've been away for a long time." Crewe didn't seem interested in the contents of the bag.He is always very obedient, at home, at school, and among classmates and friends. This time he covered for Geraint's sneak for a week, which kind of wore him out.
Geraint ignored him, and took out a long box from his bag.
"I told the teachers that you are going to shed your skin, so you are not feeling well." Crewe continued his topic, and stuffed the two tentacles back into the quilt, and only pressed the two human arms on the quilt.
"It's still early." Geraint responded casually, and raised his head to signal Crewe to focus on the box in his hand.
But he looked around and seemed to feel that the light was not enough, so he quickly lit the candlestick by the bed.
Crewe could now see that it was a very old carton. It was frayed and the paint was mottled.Geraint stuffed him in that bulging package so that now all eight corners were rounded.
It doesn't affect what's inside though.
Geraint carefully opened the box.
The bottom of the box was padded with black velvet, and a polished wooden stick was placed on it.
Crewe stared blankly at the stick, then tried to touch it with his tentacles.
Geraint shuddered and knocked off Crewe's tentacles.
"Be careful!" He cursed in a low voice, "Do you know what this is?"
Crewe looked at the stick, then at Geraint, and shook his head.
"This is a wand," Geraint said in a tone of exclamation, "something used by wizards outside!"
But obviously Crewe couldn't feel the shock brought by this answer. After thinking for a while, he couldn't find the information related to the magic wand in his mind, "What is a magic wand?"
"Very powerful weapon." Geraint rubbed his hands, carefully put the small box aside, breathed on his hands, rubbed again, and then solemnly took out the wand from the box, "I'll give you Demonstrate."
Holding a wand in his right hand, he came to the center of the room, then raised his chin to Cru Yang, who was still in a daze, and said - "Come on a wind spell."
"Wind curse?" Crewe looked up at him slightly.
"Yes." Geraint staggered slightly to the side, and pushed the window open again with his left hand.
Crewe gently lifted the covers a little, freeing up more tentacles. He hung half of his tentacles over the edge of the bed, and the other half nestled on the bed. After carefully recalling it for a moment, he raised his arms and raised them flat against the window.
A breeze slowly rose outside the house. With the process of the Krue Yun spell, it took 1 minute before and after, and the breeze became stronger and stronger. It blew in through the narrow windows, cooling the face and tentacles.
"Okay." Just as Crewe was playing vigorously, Geraint suddenly interrupted him.Crewe lowered his tentacles and arms in a little disappointment, overlapping and pressing on his lower abdomen.
At this moment, Geraint waved his wand, and the wind that had just stopped rose again.Only this time the wind was blowing very fast and violently. Before Crewe could react, it had already formed a small vortex in the center of the room.
It spun rapidly, knocking down the scrolls and books around it one by one.Not only that, even the candles on the bedside table and bedside trembled violently.
Cru raised his tentacles to cover his eyes, the wind came too fast, too fast.It was raging in the house like a miniature tornado, and in less than 30 seconds, the entire bookshelf fell straight down as the wind speed increased and the scope widened.
The bookshelf made a loud noise, and the torches in the corridor suddenly lit up.
Geraint immediately stopped casting the spell, stuffed the wand into the box and held it in his arms.Pushing Crewe as fast as possible, the two rolled onto the bed together.
"What's the matter with you two! What do you want to do at night?" The wooden door was knocked several times, and the housekeeper shouted in a hoarse voice.
Neither Crewe nor Geraint made a sound, they closed their eyes nervously and pretended to be asleep. They didn't know if the dormitory manager came in at this time and saw the mess in the house, would they put them in confinement, but fortunately, the dormitory manager cursed a few more words, and then extinguished the torch in the corridor.
Crewe opened his eyes first, and finally felt Geraint's previous excitement. He slapped the two tentacles cheerfully, and couldn't help admiring—"It's amazing! What a powerful wooden stick!"
"...It's a wand." Geraint corrected impatiently, grabbing Crewe's waving tentacles to make him whisper. Then he tucked the wand under the pillow and breathed a sigh of relief.
"It can make me famous." He suppressed the excitement in his heart, and squeezed Crewe's tentacles under the quilt.
The tentacles are sticky and limp. But now Geraint doesn't dislike it, he even likes this touch a little bit.
"It will make you famous." Crewe repeated naively, and after a moment, he couldn't help adding—"Then you won't sleep in your bed anymore?"
Geraint glanced at his bed, countless books had messed up his bed.
"Let me sleep for one night," Geraint said, "I'll cover you if you become famous."
Crewe thought about it, and felt that what Geraint said made sense. So he didn't say much anymore, he retracted his tentacles to make room for the other party, and closed his eyes in peace.
This is the first magic wand to appear in the Cracked Rock Islands, and no one knows that it will set off stormy waves in this isolated place.
But now the wand was lying quietly in the arms of the two children, sleeping as sweetly as the two children.
