[HP] End of Death
Chapter 48 Crouch
"What do you think?" Mr. Bagman said cheerfully, as Harry and Draco crossed the last low wall. "It's going fast, isn't it? In another month, Hagrid will turn them into Twenty feet tall. Don't worry." He saw the displeasure on Harry's and Draco's faces, still smiling. "As soon as the Tournament is over, your Quidditch pitch will be back to normal! Well, I think You can probably guess what we are going to do here, right?"
For a moment no one spoke. After a while, Krum said gruffly, "The maze."
"That's right!" Bagman said, "It's a maze. The third item is very simple and clear. The Triwizard Cup is placed in the center of the maze, and the warrior who touches it first will get a full score."
"We just need to go through the maze?" Fleur asked.
"There's going to be a lot of obstacles," Bagman said cheerfully, hopping around on tiptoe. "Hagrid provided a bunch of animals... and some spells that had to be broken... and stuff like that, you know. Also, the champion with the most points goes into the maze first. First Mr. Krum... and then Mr. Potter, Mal Mister Foo, and finally Miss Delacour. But you'll all have to fight to succeed, it's up to your ability to get over obstacles. Should be fun, shouldn't it?"
Harry knew all too well what kind of animal Hagrid would offer on such an occasion, and it wasn't fun at all.But he didn't say anything.Nodding politely like the other warriors.
"Fine... If you have no questions, let's go back to the castle, shall we? It's a bit cold here..."
Everyone stepped over the ever-growing low wall together. Mr. Bagman hurried around to Harry. Harry felt that he was about to offer to help him again, but at this moment, Krum patted Harry on the shoulder from behind. .
"Can I have a word with you?"
"Okay, no problem," Harry replied, slightly surprised. He felt Draco's eyes flick to him immediately.
"Come with me, okay?"
"Okay." Harry said curiously.
"Is there anything we can't say here?" A cold voice cut in, and Harry's heart skipped a beat, and he was really jealous.Krum frowned and looked at Draco who suddenly appeared, and shook his head: "It's a private matter."
Draco's face darkened even more, and Harry felt that he was about to ask "what can you do privately", so he hurried ahead of him and said, "You guys go back first, we will come later."
Draco watched Harry and Krum leave the team with a dark face, he pursed his lower lip, and found an excuse to avoid Mr. Bagman and Fleur, and followed them quietly.
Harry and Krum had already left the pitch, and instead of heading in the direction of the Durmstrang ship's congratulatory message, they headed for the forest.
"Why did we go this way?" he heard Harry ask.
"Don't want to be heard," Krum replied curtly.
Don't want to be heard? What the hell are they talking about?Alarm bells rang in Draco's heart. They finally came to a quiet clearing, some distance from Beauxbaton's stables. Krum stopped under the shade of a tree and turned to face Harry.
"I want to know," he said grimly, "what's the matter with you and Her-mi-en."
Draco listened quietly from behind a tree, holding his breath. That's a good question, he thought, and I'd like to know it too.
"Nothing." Harry's voice came clearly to his ears, "I'm friends with her."
"H-M-En speaks of you often."
"Yeah, we're friends."
"You never...you never..."
"No." Harry replied in the affirmative.
Krum paused for a few seconds, and his voice became cheerful: "You fly very well, I watched the first project."
"Thanks, I saw you at the Quidditch World Cup." Harry smiled lightly, which made Draco want to rush out and interrupt the rapport between the two of them, "Lonsky feint, you real--"
Suddenly, there was a strange noise in the bushes behind Krum. At that moment, Draco almost thought that he had accidentally put his inner thoughts into action.Harry instinctively grabbed Krum's arm and pulled him towards them, and they stared at the movement.
Before Draco had time to react to Harry's actions, he suddenly felt that there seemed to be another person beside him, and then there was the sound of creaking shoes on dead branches and leaves, and a man stumbled past him .Draco looked at his swaying back without moving, and felt a chill behind him, and suddenly felt a wave of fear.
At this moment, he didn't care about hiding anymore, and walked out from behind the oak tree, ran to Harry's side, and blocked him with one hand.
"Malfoy!" Harry was astonished, and Krum's face became ugly.
Draco recognized that it was Mr. Crouch, the owner of the Department of International Magical Cooperation of the Ministry of Magic, and he hadn't appeared at Hogwarts for a long time-he was also one of the judges. He looked as if he had been wandering for days, his robes were torn and bloodstained, his face was bruised, his beard was unshaven, and his face was gray and haggard.
Although Mr. Crouch's appearance looked weird, what was even weirder was that he seemed to be talking to someone who only he could see.He kept muttering and gesticulating.
"Isn't he a referee? Isn't he from your Ministry of Magic?" Krum asked, staring at Mr. Crouch.
Harry nodded. He hesitated for a moment, and was about to walk towards Mr. Crouch when Draco stopped him.The latter drew his wand from his pocket and walked slowly towards him step by step.Mr. Crouch didn't look at him, but kept talking to a nearby tree.
"...Wetherby, after you finish this, send an owl to Dumbledore to confirm the number of Durmstrang students participating in the Tournament. Karkaroff sent a message saying that there are twelve ..."
"Mr. Crouch?" Draco whispered.
"...and then send an owl to Madame Maxime, who may also increase the number of students, since Karkaroff's number has increased to twelve... Let's do it, Wetherby, will you? Okay, okay..."
Mr. Crouch's eyes were bulging, and he stood there, staring straight at the tree, muttering something silently.Suddenly, he staggered a few steps and fell to the ground.
"Mr. Crouch?! Are you all right?"
Draco frowned and took another step closer to him. He glanced back at Harry and Krum, who were also walking towards the bushes.
"Dumbledore!" gasped Mr. Crouch. He rushed over, grabbed Draco's robes, and pulled him to his side, but his eyes were fixed on the position above his head, "I want to see... Dumbledore..."
"Okay, Mr. Crouch," Draco tried, but failed, to pull his own robes back from his hands, "as soon as you get up, we'll take you to Dumbledore."
"I did... a stupid thing..." he gasped, looking completely insane, his eyes rolling and saliva dripping down his chin, "must... tell... Dumbledore ..."
"Get up, Mr. Crouch!" Draco snapped, "Get up, we'll take you to Dumbledore!"
Crouch's eyes suddenly fixed on him, and he stared at him firmly, as if he wanted to see through him: "Who... are you?"
"I'm Draco Malfoy, a student at Hogwarts." Draco said with forced composure, and he glanced back as Harry walked up to him and took his hand.
"Aren't you...his?" Crouch asked softly, his mouth hanging down.
Draco opened his mouth and was about to answer, his brain hurt again, something flashed by, and his face suddenly turned pale.
Harry gave him a strange look, then picked up Crouch's words: "We're not."
"Dumbledore's man?"
"Correct."
Crouch let go of Draco, and grabbed Harry's robe instead: "Give Dumbledore...a reminder..."
"If you let me go, I'll go find Dumbledore," Harry said. "Let me go, Mr. Crouch, I'll go find him..." He turned to look at Draco, who was still holding on He rubbed his forehead with a look of unbearable pain.
