[HP] Similar but different

Harry was a bit uncomfortable in Tuesday's Defense Against the Dark Arts class because of his conflicted state of mind.He believed that things were better now than last week; but he didn't dare to follow Voldemort's eyes blatantly like before.The eyes of the two occasionally met, and he tried his best to pretend that everything was normal.

In contrast, Voldemort is much more comfortable.In fact, he showed no difference at all.In free practice, though, Harry smiled approvingly when he was the first to cast a beautiful banishing spell against a manticore.

Harry heard small gasps around him, and he could guess that Malfoy must be looking sullen; but none of that prevented his heart from going into cardiac arrest when he saw that smile, as if he'd lost his foot when he was going down the stairs.

Regarding this, Ron, who didn't know it, was patronizing and amazed, while Hermione turned her face silently.When Voldemort told Harry to stay after class, she dragged Ron away without saying a word.

Harry was so guilty that he didn't dare to look anyone in the eye.When there were only two people left in the classroom, he had no choice but to look up.

"I thought you were going to keep staring at the desk," said Voldemort, rather playfully, "or, trying to find a crack in the floor? How did I not realize you were so shy before?"

"I knew it, you always have to break the casserole and ask the end." Voldemort seemed rather helpless, "Are you sure you want to talk about this?"

Harry frowned sensitively. "Are you implying that the answer is not to my liking?"

Voldemort spread his hands. "Obviously."

Harry pursed his lips.Emotionally, he didn't want to hear it, because that could be another source of conflict, and he wasn't sure things would always work out like last time; but intellectually, he knew he had to face reality, after all, no one can live by cheating. "Speak." He took two deep breaths.

"In this case..." Voldemort showed a thoughtful expression, "I won't repeat what you know. On the day I went to Hogsmeade, Dumbledore asked what was your relationship with me."

"...What?!" Harry jumped up all of a sudden, panicked. "Dumbledore...knows?"

Voldemort curled his lips at Harry. "You don't really think how good your acting skills are, do you? I dare say Dumbledore discovered it long ago, but he didn't tell you so clearly."

Harry's eyes widened until he remembered the Headmaster asking why he was alone at the ball. "Merlin's beard..." he groaned, slumping his shoulders in frustration. "How did you answer him then?"

"I told the truth, but he didn't believe it."

Harry frowned again. "Tell the truth?" He stared suspiciously at the man. "Could it be that Dumbledore doesn't believe you say we are mortal enemies?"

Voldemort neither nodded nor shook his head. "On this point, you and he are surprisingly consistent."

Those words came from Voldemort's lips as far as compliments, but Harry felt strangely affirmed and reassured.Dumbledore shares his opinion... "Because we're all doing the right thing."

"So you finally found a supporter to refute me?" Voldemort snorted coldly, "It's really gratifying."

Harry pretended not to hear the taunt.If he was not mistaken, Voldemort was either extremely hostile or extremely resistant to Dumbledore, and it would be no good for their conversation to continue. "And then?" he asked, and hurriedly made amends: "I know I did something wrong then."

"Don't change the subject." Harry warned him skillfully, leaving his seat and walking towards the podium at the same time, "If you can only come up with 'Dumbledore's fault', it will only prove that I am right."

Voldemort looked at him, and suddenly the corners of his mouth curled up. "Even if you're right, so what?"

Again, Harry felt a cardiac arrest.The next second he recovered, he understood: "You found out. You did it on purpose again."

"Just as I said just now—" Voldemort deliberately drew out his voice, with a funny expression, "so what?"

By this time Harry was already at the podium. "You're sure I can't do anything to you?"

"You can't say that." Voldemort's eyes followed Harry's movement of dropping his hand on the table, "You and I both know that you may be the person who can do something to me the most."

Harry now knew why he couldn't just keep looking into those eyes - not only could they easily gain access to his thoughts, they could easily heat him up and make him shudder. "If I find out that you lied to me, concealed important matters, or intentionally provoked me," he leaned forward with his hands on the table, his voice was as soft as a whisper, "you should be punished."

Voldemort laughed lowly. "Punishment is what I'm good at, not you." He raised his eyebrows, "But I'm still willing to listen."

It was true, Harry was really not good at it.To be more precise, he didn't even think about what he wanted before he mentioned the punishment. "Punish you to spend more time with me," he said, a little out of the blue, but a voice in his head told him it was absolutely the right thing to do. "Like weekends or something."

Voldemort's eyebrows rose for a moment. "Are you sure you want to call this punishment?"
