Chapter 13 The Dark Lord's Deal

"Good reasoning," said the voice again, with what seemed to be a smirk.

Harry was rightly outraged that Voldemort had invaded his brain, but he was truly flabbergasted now. "How did you do it?" He asked, and then realized that he was talking to himself like this, and it would be bad if someone saw him, so he hurried upstairs, found the nearest empty room, and closed the door. Good door. "Speaking to me in my head?"

Voldemort waited for him to get himself settled before he said lazily, "Didn't you hear that just now? I can use this two-way link to do something."

"...so what are you going to do?" Harry asked warily.

Voldemort sneered. "It's not my purpose to answer your questions." He drew his voice, "but I happen to be willing to answer this question."

Harry frowned.Happen to be willing to answer?real or fake?

"Don't you want to know everything?" Voldemort continued, seeming to sense Harry's suspicions. "I'm just giving you a chance to know the truth."

"Don't you think you're contradicting yourself?" Harry pointed this out right away.

"No," said Voldemort tactfully, "because whether and how much you can know is up to me."

Harry stared. Is this how the Dark Lord negotiates terms with people?

"You don't seem to understand the situation," Voldemort chuckled. "This is not a fair negotiation. The rules of the game are, if you can meet my requirements, I will tell you something you want to know. I am the only leader who," he declared triumphantly.

Harry chewed it carefully twice. "Why would you do something that sounds like it's not going to do you any good?" he questioned.

"The Dark Lord never does anything that does him no good." Voldemort replied in a chanting voice, the ease in which Harry was annoyed. "If you think that, it can only mean that you are very wrong." .”

"So, you mean, you told me you were going to use me, and you expect me to help you?" Harry was angry and disgusted. "What gave you the illusion that I would agree?"

Voldemort didn't deny it, nor was he provoked. "Yourself, Potter," he said softly, but with obvious sarcasm in it, "Need I remind you how disappointed you are with my use of Occlumency?"

Harry's face turned pale and pale.Voldemort really knows everything! "That doesn't mean..."

He tried to argue, but Voldemort cut him off lightly. "The Dark Lord has no time to waste listening to your quibbles, Potter. You'd better listen carefully, because I'm only saying it once."

Although Harry hated the condescending tone, he kept his mouth shut.Voldemort was right when he said that he really wanted to know what Voldemort was going to do.

"I believe you have received the locket," said Voldemort, "but it seems you haven't figured out what it's for."

The mention of this made Harry angry. "Sure enough, you did it, didn't you? Use Mundungus to steal the real locket and give me a fake one?" He paused, then asked, "What are your diary and locket?" ?”

Voldemort seemed to sneer. "You wouldn't expect this level of surprise to get something out of the Dark Lord's mouth, would you, Potter?"

Suddenly discovered...Harry kept his mouth shut and remained silent.

Voldemort didn't intend to wait for Harry's answer. "I know that's probably one of the parts you care about the most," he said slyly, "but of course the most exciting comes last, doesn't it?"

Harry didn't want to ask if that meant Voldemort would finally tell him the truth about the diary and the locket. He kept reminding himself that it would be utterly foolish to take the Dark Lord's word for it.

Voldemort clicked his tongue, seemingly disappointed by Harry's restraint. "Anyway, the locket is only the first step. If you can pass its test, you will be eligible to continue."

Harry wanted to say again that he didn't want this kind of shit qualification, but he managed to control himself. He had to ask Voldemort to say more, so that it would be beneficial to his judgment.

Voldemort chuckled slightly. "That's not bad," he said with false praise. "I find you have some redeeming qualities—such as finding that house-elf, or finding out that the corridor really exists."

"So you really want to go to the Department of Mysteries?" Harry could no longer restrain his curiosity and impulse, "What are you going to do there?"

"Weapons," replied Voldemort softly, "you know that, don't you?"

Harry had a hunch that Voldemort had avoided key parts. "What weapons are there in the Department of Mysteries?"

"My little friend, you are too impatient." Voldemort seemed to be still chuckling, "As I said just now, we have to follow the rules."

rule? What rules?Do you have to solve the puzzle on the locket to know more?Harry resentfully.

"That's right," Voldemort affirmed, "Of course, you don't have to participate... I think you can definitely get the news you care about from other channels, such as Dumbledore?"

Harry almost jumped up.Voldemort definitely did it on purpose!Knowing that Dumbledore hadn't spoken to him since June, he still brought it up!

"Don't get excited, I'm just offering you another way, whether you think it's feasible or not is not within the scope of my suggestion." Voldemort said softly, "This is exactly the second thing I want to say-everything in this matter part, you'll keep it a secret from everyone else. If I find out you've violated it, then..."

"You're just going to use Occlumency on me forever?" Harry couldn't help interjecting, not saying it wasn't on purpose.

Voldemort's always confident voice seemed to choke. "You're confident now that I don't want to kill you, are you?"

The Dark Lord's tone was still soft, but Harry could hear the sternness in it. "No," he denied, "but you sure want to do something bad."

Hearing the aggravated "bad thing", Voldemort almost laughed angrily. "What misunderstands you about the name Dark Lord?" he sarcastically asked.

"Never," said Harry, definitely aware that he was stepping into a vortex of treachery and change. "Is there a third one?"

"Those two for the time being," Voldemort replied grimly. "If you want more restrictions, I promise I will be generous enough to add them for you."

It's definitely ironic, Harry doesn't want to argue with Voldemort because it's pointless. "You keep your word?"

Voldemort snorted heavily, as if he thought it was a serious offense to the Dark Lord's reputation. "Always," he hissed, "you'd be better off worrying about yourself."

Being reminded like this, Harry suddenly realized that he really needed to worry. "Snape is giving me Occlumency lessons," he asked tentatively, "and if he saw this while he was reading me, does that count as me?"

Voldemort smirked back. "You can try it."

Harry fell silent. It must not be a good result. Then it occurred to him that no matter what method Voldemort used to speak to him, as long as he learned Occlumency well, he would definitely never hear Voldemort's voice again...

"That's right," Voldemort said abruptly, "Congratulations on finding a third option for yourself."

On the one hand, Harry was relieved, because it felt so bad to have all the initiative in the hands of the Dark Lord; on the other hand, he couldn't help but wonder: "Aren't you worried? If I learn Occlumency, Your plan—whatever it was—was useless?"

Voldemort didn't answer. "It sounds like you've agreed."

Harry fell silent. He still wanted to know what Voldemort was thinking and thinking, and he didn't want their connection to disappear; but at the same time, what if Voldemort had laid a huge trap and he had already stepped into it without knowing it?

"You are doubting yourself." Voldemort pointed out sharply. "You don't think you're capable of distinguishing between what you want to do and what I want you to do?" he said, seeming amused. "If you admit that you can't, then I'll admit that I can." I made a wrong proposal. Let's all pretend that today's events never happened, how?"

It's aggressive, it must be, Harry thought through gritted teeth. The hateful thing is that he could not remain indifferent to this blatant provocation. "Deal," he heard his own voice squeezed out between his teeth, "just wait and see!"

It was probably a threat, but Voldemort's response was to laugh. "The Dark Lord will wait and see," he said slyly. "As an interest, I can tell you one thing first."

"...What?" Harry's anger was still there, but he raised his vigilance again.

"Whatever you think," Voldemort said softly, as softly as a whisper in Harry's ear, or a whisper between lovers, "I've come to you because this matter is really only about you and me." —whether in the past or now.”

The sound disappeared.

Harry stared doubtfully and blankly at the empty room, his mind in a ball of wool.Only about Voldemort and him?Surely this wasn't a lie Voldemort wanted him to keep secret?
