Chapter 5: The Siege

Although Su Shi ignored him, Eric was still in high spirits/getting up:

"The Priests of Doripa own almost the entire town of Doripa, and everyone who crosses the Doripa Bridge has to pay them a bridge tax. They own a lot of good fields, orchards and mills, and even the horses on Doripa Street The dung belongs to them. If you can become a sacrificial boy there, you won’t have to worry about starvation or poverty in your life.”

"Hey!" Eric clapped a big hand on Su Shi's shoulder, quite self-satisfied, "If it wasn't for my smartness, I seized the opportunity and mentioned to the priest that you can sing, you wouldn't have such a good Lucky!"

"Thank you so much for that."

The grapes were very sour, so Su Shi put the peeled grape skins back into the clay saucer.

Eric seemed to open up the chatter box, talking about what he had inquired about, and perhaps what he imagined, about the beautiful life of the servant of the gods.Eric talked about it for a while before belatedly realizing that his brother seemed unhappy.

"Why are you holding your face?" Eric stretched out his hand to pinch his younger brother's face, "Come on, smile."

"My balls hurt, can't I?" Su Shi turned his face away and said, "Oh, I forgot, I don't have any balls anymore."

"Are you blaming me?" Eric frowned. "Think of Clara, the boy who starved to death last winter! Father didn't teach us any trades to earn a living, and our family didn't have much. And As long as you sing well now, you can live a good life without worrying about food and clothing. The most tiring job is just kneeling there and praying, what are you dissatisfied with?"

"I don't have any dissatisfaction. Thank you for allowing me to become an eunuch, and I have the honor to join the big family of the priesthood, and live a life without worrying about food and clothing."

Su Shi looked calm and authentic, keeping his eyes on the tray on his lap, not looking at Eric.

He only borrowed this body temporarily, and he didn't really care that much about whether this body had sexual or reproductive capabilities—he might also be thankful that he didn't become a eunuch completely, he didn't have to squat to pee, and he couldn't do without diapers .Although Eric has bullied Baloo since he was a child, this is not the reason why Baloo hates him. The most uncomfortable thing is that he doesn't take what happened to Baloo. He was as sympathetic as he would stone a stray cat.

"..."

Eric felt that something was weird, and he twisted his body a little uneasily.

In the end Eric just said like a father: "When you go to Dolipa and live a better life, you'll know it's for you."

To save on candles, the home is ready for bed after dark.

Duck's house is a two-story wooden house, and the second floor is actually the attic roof. The two brothers slept in an attic room with cramped beds, which became crowded year after year after both brothers started pulling out, and would even be woken up at night by each other.

In order to make more room for the recovering Su Shi, Eric spent the past two days laying the floor.

The ground was covered with a solid hay bed, and there were no extra bedding. Fortunately, the end of summer in Luang was still warm. Eric used the short hay stack as a pillow, and fell asleep with his clothes on.

The good night kiss was rejected by his brother, Eric was a little depressed.

In his heart, life in the priesthood is heaven, where he can wear clean clothes, have enough food every day, and learn Latin. That is a life that is admired and respected by others. He felt that his younger brother should live like that.

Of course, think about it differently and let him cut his balls... He thought about what it's like to be a woman, but he still didn't want to.But Baloo is not a man, and his hair is not fully grown yet.He didn't know what it was like to be a man, and his only loss was that he couldn't have children.

But having children is nothing to envy, Eric thought.

There is a large litter of children, who have worked hard to raise them, and have finally grown taller like bean sprouts. When the cold winter comes, one or two may die.Raising children is harder than farming crops.

The moonlight poured in through the narrow window, and Eric held the straw in his mouth, thinking about it, and fell asleep unconsciously.
