Reborn As A Dragon Girl With A System

821 The Battle At The Riverside Part 2

Kana did not care about the inner turmoil that the old man was going through at this time. She had already spotted the human faced fish she had spoken to that night. Luckily they were all different in their own unique way. But as she went to summon her sword, the one that her handsome husband had crafted for her, the sword at her side, the one she got from this very river, suddenly shot out of its sheath and hovered in the air in front of her stopping her from continuing forward. "What!?"

Her pure white sword jumped out of her hand and floated up in front of the other sword, both seemingly resonating with each other. Kana stared at the two swords as they seemed to dance around each other, and before she even knew what was happening, the two swords suddenly slammed against each other, causing a black and white light to shine brightly over the battlefield. The human faced fish, the darklings, and even the chaos beings all stopped their fighting and looked up at the sky.

The two swords hovered as they slowly merged into one another. This whole process was quick. It seemed to have happened in almost an instant. After a bright flash of light that made all look away, Kana's eyes opened slowly to see a sword that was dark as night but glittered as if it had millions or billions of tiny stars within it.

The sword gave off an ancient feel to it that felt even older than the old man's aura. Even the old man who was standing behind Kana was staring at the sword in shock. "The Sword of Beginning…"  He muttered. He almost reached out to try to take the sword, but he held back. He knew the sword did not belong to him. He himself had only ever heard of the sword through stories and legends. And those descriptions all stated that it was a sword that seemed to have its own universe within. It was a sword forged to cut through any existence. He watched as the sword danced around Kana as if it was a child dancing around its mother.

Kana had a faint smile on her face as she felt a very strong connection to this sword. She reached out and grabbed the sword's hilt. The sword seemed to sing a happy tune as her hand grasped it. She looked at the surface that was like a mirage of another universe and smiled brightly. "Handsome Husband will definitely want to take a look at you now."

Once the sword was in her hand, she turned and looked at the battlefield below to see that everyone was staring at her. She once more found the human faced fish that was standing on land with a sword in his hand and landed down in front of him. "It has been a long time." Kana said with a smile. "It seems you need my assistance."

"Huh? Ah yes…. That sword…. Where did it…." The human faced fish looked at the sword in Kana's hand and felt fear but was also drawn to it.

Kana smiled as she said: "We will talk more later. For now, we have another matter at hand. We  shall take care of all these invaders first."

Kana turned and slashed out with her sword. It was her normal casual sword slash, one she would fire off a blade of sword qi with, but this time, it was much different. The sword beam created was ten times wider than herself, and the height was almost twenty Kana's tall. It cut through the crowd ignoring all the darklings and human faced fish, but any chaos being caught in its path seemed to get sucked into and disappeared instantly.

A smile crept up on Kana's face. She had been worrying about how she was going to help deal with these chaos beings that even the old man said he couldn't deal with. However, she did feel that maybe he was lying and was just being lazy. Of course, Kana had never actually fought a chaos being before now, and her sword and her darklings made them look very weak, so Kana did not know just how strong the chaos beings truly were.

If it was before she got the sword, Kana would find it hard to hold her own against maybe one of these beings as they consume all energy. It is just that her darklings also do the same and are much better at it, which gives them the edge over a chaos being. So with just her darklings alone, things would work out eventually, but this may come at the cost of many of her darklings as well as the lives of the people on this continent. This was why Kana came here to see if she could stop the flow of chaos beings somehow. Her family currently could not fight them head on. Maybe Angelica and Rain may be able to hold out for a while, but the others had their powers sealed.

But now, Kana felt like things were happening for a reason. She wondered why this sword resonated with her so much, down to the deepest part of her soul. She wondered if maybe, just maybe that her soul was not just a product of the old man. She would not have thought of all of this if she had not known about reincarnation and her past lives but now….

"What are you doing here?" Kana's thoughts were interrupted by the human faced fish.

"Should I have not come?" Kana asked with a confused expression.

"No, in fact, I am glad you came. I just never expected a human to keep their promises. I thank you." The human faced fish bowed its fishy head.

"Well, I am not human after all," Kana said with a chuckle while patting the human faced fish on its shoulder. It stood on land with two arms in the front and two legs in the back, all attached to a fished shaped body. It was a miracle that the human face fished race could actually walk like this.
