Overlord: Start from the Goblin Lair

Chapter 27 Monitor Lizard

The goblins walking behind them were half a day slower than them, but because the whippers who had the ability to build and explore in the goblin caste system, the gatherers who were responsible for obtaining food, and the untouchables who worked as coolies were all behind them, even if Ron and his team didn't want to wait, there was nothing they could do.

But fortunately, the heavy rain in the Delusion Land came later than expected. The goblins finally built a simple camp before the night rain, and prepared a place for Ron's team, Kalade and his wolf.

Other goblins except Dreverdo could only find a place to hide from the rain. They either crawled under the wolf's belly or hid in the nearby woods. In short, they were scattered everywhere.

Victoria stood at the door of the tent where Ron's team lived, leaning on her shield, and looked out vigilantly.

"Take a rest," Ivy patted her shoulder from behind, "You have been on guard these days, your body can't take it."

"It doesn't matter, this is my duty," Victoria waved her hand, "especially now that we have reached the periphery of the delusion land, we must not relax. There is a reason why it has not been occupied by anyone."

"Even if there is danger, it will be inside, right? What can there be outside..." Ivy shook her head, knowing that she couldn't persuade the pastor, she had to go back and rest.

It turned out that Victoria's worries were not unnecessary. It's just that the victims were not them.

After the rain stopped at dawn, Ron squatted in the open space. In front of him, three goblin corpses were lined up.

Two of them had been eaten by wild beasts, and only one was still intact, and the bite mark on the waist could be clearly seen.

"Blood-type toxin," Ron concluded, "anticoagulation, muscle paralysis, these are typical effects. The hunter is more likely to be a reptile."

"Some kind of reptile, most likely a monitor lizard." Driver said on the side, "Snakes don't have this kind of bite mark."

As a senior hunter, his words are quite authoritative.

"It must be that they just found a place to sleep, giving the monitor lizard a chance to attack." Karad was not surprised by this. Goblins are just consumables and cannon fodder to him, and he would not feel sorry even if many of them died, but the death of these three goblins does have a warning significance.

"Gather people to start building a stronghold," Karad's order was passed down, "These beasts usually only attack lone guys, in groups of three or five, don't act alone anymore!"

However, Karad's order did not seem to work. After the next night, another six goblins met with misfortune.

"When we arrived, there was only this corpse left," Driver said angrily, "There are a lot of bloodstains extending into the depths. The others must have been dragged into their dens by the monitor lizards!"

"This one was also bitten into a mess, and nothing can be seen." Ron frowned. He was not a forensic doctor, and there was no way to find useful information from such a fragmented corpse.

"It shouldn't be," Ivy folded her arms, "Driver, isn't it said that there are a lot of prey in the past few days? Why did the monitor lizard attack you?"

"Maybe, goblin meat, delicious?" Driver tilted his head and thought again and again, and could only come up with this answer.

But this is almost impossible. It is recognized all over the world that dwarf meat is the most delicious, and goblins are really not a target worth hunting repeatedly.

"Strengthen defense!" Kalade didn't have any good ideas.

On the third day, four more goblins were missing. The whole group began to be shrouded in a terrifying atmosphere. There were even rumors among the goblins that this was a divine punishment from Magrubiye.

They were not a well-disciplined team. With people disappearing every few days, their morale began to drop madly. If this continued, deserters and unrest would only happen sooner or later.

"It's really weird!" Kalade was furious. "No wonder this broken place is called Delusion Land. It's too hostile to outsiders!"

"But I don't believe it - I'll sleep outside tonight. If they dare to come again, I'll peel their skins and make cushions for chairs!"

He was worried that he couldn't take his original chair with him when he migrated!

"I'll go to rest first, and I'll help at night." Victoria turned and entered the tent.

She had no intention of ensuring the safety of the goblins, but the lips and teeth are cold. When the goblins are gone, it will be their turn.

As the leader of the team, Ron naturally couldn't let Victoria go alone to take risks, so when the sky in Delusion Land darkened again, the four members of the team quietly hid near a big goblin who deliberately "left alone" to rest.

Karad's wolf hid under a pile of fallen leaves as a warning and a third ambush.

Time soon came to the second half of the night.

The few people and the wolf didn't even dare to breathe.

"Swish--" The light footsteps with dragging were getting closer and closer.

"Six, so many..." Driver muttered in a low voice. No wonder they could attack so many people at a time, and those unlucky guys couldn't even sound the alarm.

"Do monitor lizards hunt in groups?" Ron frowned and asked as low as possible.

This is different from his impression in his previous life.

"Generally speaking, no," Driver muttered, "Monitor lizards usually have two to four as a small family, and they won't leave their territory easily. So we have hardly been attacked by these things before..."

"Look! They are going to attack!"

A giant lizard was already lying on Karad's body. It opened its foul-smelling mouth full of sharp teeth and tried to bite Karad's neck. However, at this moment, Karad's yellow eyes suddenly opened, and his strong arms struggled. His big hands like iron clamps instantly clamped the lizard's neck and clamped it tightly!

The lizard made a sharp cry and struggled desperately to break free from the earth elf's suppression. But it was useless to scratch with his limbs or twist and roll. Suddenly, the earth elf tightly wrapped around the lizard's neck and brought it into his arms. Others only heard a series of bone-breaking sounds. When Karad threw the lizard on the ground, the reptile had turned into a pool of limp meat.

And at this moment, the lizards that had just been frightened reacted and began to besiege the earth elf!

"Awooo--" The wolf lying in ambush under the fallen leaves howled, and Ron and his companions, who had been waiting for a long time, immediately rushed out.

Four balls of light lit up in the air, instantly illuminating the entire battlefield. At this moment, the discolored skin of the two humanoid creatures who had already touched Kalade could no longer provide them with cover, and they were completely exposed to the ambush circle of Ron and his companions!
