Mystery: Chaos Path

#186 - The Past of Amon in the Realm of the Sun

The Ancient Sun God and Amon, left standing where they were, didn't immediately start catching up. This father and son, reunited after a long separation or, rather, a time displacement, fell into silence almost immediately after Roland left. An awkward and complex atmosphere enveloped the area, and neither of them spoke.

After several seconds, the Ancient Sun God sighed and took the initiative to speak: "Do you mind taking a walk with me around here? Amon."

Amon, upon hearing this, raised his hand to pinch the monocle on his face and nodded, saying, "Alright."

So, the two of them began to stroll through the ruins not far from Silver City. After walking for a while, the Ancient Sun God suddenly said:

"In my timeline, just not long ago, I brought you here once. I don't know if you remember it."

Amon's footsteps paused. His gaze swept across the surroundings, landing on the dilapidated buildings. Long-sealed memories finally cracked open at this moment.

Amon suddenly remembered that he had indeed been here, a long, long time ago.

It was a sunny afternoon. As a cub, he rarely saw the Sun God, who was usually impossible to find. So, the young Amon ignored Medici's dissuasion and hugged the Sun God's leg.

Amon remembered that he seemed to have said something back then. What was it— "Daddy, don't go?"

It seemed to be that sentence, but Amon didn't quite remember, after all, he was really too young at the time. But for some reason, he still clearly remembered the Sun God's reaction at the time.

The Sun God, who had never personally taken care of children and always left them to Medici or Sasrir, seemed to freeze completely when faced with Amon's "surprise attack". It took him several seconds to regain control of his limbs and bend down, "tearing" him off his leg and saying in a gentle voice, "Amon, Father has something to do…"

"Wah—"

Although it was embarrassing to say, Amon remembered that he, who was still young at the time, did indeed cry directly. After that, the memories became very blurry, only remembering that the Sun God seemed to coax him for a long time, with Medici's annoying voice coming from the side from time to time.

Later, the Sun God seemed to have promised him something. When the young Amon came back to his senses, he had already been brought near here by his father. The Sun God had serious business to do here, and Amon, a little radish head only as tall as his leg, was led by him like a little tail, following by his side.

Later… Amon looked at the surrounding ruins and suddenly said, "I remember this was a garden. After you finished what you had to do, Father, you took me to sit on the stone bench in the center of the garden and used those flowers to weave a garland for me…"

"So you still remember…" The Ancient Sun God also looked in that direction, his eyes both gentle and sad, and said, "For you, that should have been a long time ago, but for me, it was only recently."

The Ancient Sun God turned his head to look at Amon and said, "Amon, I am actually not the father you are familiar with, because I have not yet participated in your future life. I don't know what we experienced together in those futures where I have not yet fallen, and I don't know what exactly happened to you after my fall."

"To me, you were clearly just a little one who only reached my waist yesterday, a child who was a bit naughty but still cute, but it seems that in the blink of an eye, you have grown up, grown into a stranger to me." The Ancient Sun God said here, lowering his eyes, his expression seeming a little lost:

"Fate played a joke on me, revealing a cruel future to me, which once made me very painful, but I am also very fortunate…"

The Ancient Sun God raised his eyes to look at Amon, and said earnestly: "Fortunately, at least when I open my eyes in the future, what I receive is news of my own death, fortunately the first person I see is you who have grown up, fortunately my child can eventually grow up."

Faced with the Ancient Sun God's earnest expression, Amon almost froze in place, and after a long while, he hooked the corner of his mouth and said, "This doesn't sound like something you would say. I thought you would be disappointed in me…"

"I am indeed very disappointed, but I am equally glad that you are still alive." The Ancient Sun God did not deny it. He looked at Amon and smiled:

"So I am not a good savior, nor a good father. I am neither fair enough, nor can I pour enough selfishness into you. That sounds really disappointing, right?"

"…No!" Amon, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke.

He raised his head to look at the Ancient Sun God, finally meeting that pair of golden eyes.

"I have never been disappointed in you, Father."

"Every family has its own problems, family relationships are indeed one of the most difficult questions in the world. Fortunately, I have neither a dad nor a mom, I was born an orphan." After leaving the Ancient Sun God and Amon, Roland sighed in his heart and said his own dark joke in passing.

Roland, who successfully amused himself with the dark joke, shook his head and looked up at Silver City not far away. He saw that a certain training squad had obviously noticed his existence. Some people greeted him in his direction, and some ran towards a certain building, probably to notify the Silver City high-level officials.

So, after a while, Silver City Chief Colin Iliad hurriedly came to Roland and saluted Roland:

"Good day, Your Highness Lucifer!"

It could be seen that Colin Iliad ran very fast, and the whole person looked like he had breathed a sigh of relief.

Roland knew why. After all, he had told Colin Iliad before that he would be back in a while, but man proposes, God disposes. During the subsequent Demon-Fighting operation, Roland had too much fun and forgot about Silver City's affairs. Later, because he lacked spirituality and was sleepy, it was even more impossible to take time to come to Silver City.

Therefore, from the perspective of the Silver City Chief, this was an angel who said he would be back in a while, but ended up being gone for several days without any news. Although this was normal from an angel's perspective of time, Silver City had the "precedent" of being abandoned by God, so it was naturally inevitable to have some PTSD.

"I temporarily went to deal with something, I kept you waiting." Roland smiled and explained, looking at Colin Iliad unhurriedly and saying: "Today I will take people away from the Land Abandoned by God, I hope you have prepared everything."

"All the people on the list who will leave Silver City with Your Highness are ready." Colin Iliad lowered his head and replied respectfully. Although his voice was generally calm, it was still inevitably filled with a trace of excitement in the details.

Silver City had been waiting for this day for too long. Although only a few people were leaving this time, it was also a big step for Silver City to get out of its predicament and go to the outside world.
