Mystery: Chaos Path
#150 - Operation Dameng
Azek watched the past version of himself disappear, a hint of melancholy on his face, but then he froze, looking at Roland in astonishment.
"It seems the mask was indeed taken back to the past by you." Roland seemed to know what had happened, looking at Azek.
"Yes…" Azek nodded, his expression somewhat complex. At the moment the Death Consul disappeared, he received the memories of the other party being summoned, and also the mask that had accumulated over a thousand years of emotions.
Roland then timely removed the mask he had originally placed on Azek, leaving only the one that had been taken back to the past by the Death Consul and reappeared in the present with the natural passage of time.
He then observed Azek in front of him with great interest. After observing for a while, Roland smiled and said, "Are you Azek or the Death Consul now?"
"I am both Azek and the Death Consul." Azek looked at him, firmly and calmly, and said, "I have always been myself. It's just that in the past, I was influenced by the God of Death and divinity. The former me was an empty shell without self, but the current me is Azek who belongs to himself."
Roland then smiled. He said, "Then continue to be so firm, Azek. If you are still swallowed by the God of Death and divinity at this point, then I will be too disappointed."
"I won't let that happen." Azek lowered his eyes, placed his hand on his chest, felt his heartbeat, and then showed a gentle smile, saying, "I want to live, and I will live."
Roland didn't say anything more. His gaze then fell on Klein next to him, and he suddenly thought of something, saying, "Klein, get ready. The club will have an event in a few days. I think you should participate."
Klein was stunned for a moment before realizing that the "club" in Lucifer's mouth was the "Joker Club" he had joined. He quickly asked, "Mr. Lucifer, can I ask what the event is?"
"Of course." Roland seemed to have thought of something interesting, his smile becoming even brighter, and said, "The name of the event is [Amon Must Die], and the content can be simply summarized as finding Amon's clones and beating them up."
This wasn't a sudden whim of Roland's. The agreed-upon Amon-beating operation with Old Man Pales was only a few days away, and after Mr. Door's unremitting efforts during this period, the space used for meetings by the Joker Club was finally completed. So Roland was thinking about whether to simply make the Amon-beating operation the first gathering content of the Joker Club.
Anyway, more than half of the people in the gathering are Amon's enemies, so no one would refuse to watch Amon get beaten up.
Klein was simply dumbfounded. He didn't even know what to say for a moment, and it took him several seconds to find his voice, saying, "Mr. Lucifer, is there a possibility that I'm only Sequence 7?"
Which Sequence 7 would go and beat up Amon!
Of course, it's me… Roland naturally saw what Klein was thinking, almost subconsciously muttering in his heart, before looking at Klein and smiling, saying:
"Members who are not strong enough can simply observe. Don't worry, safety is absolutely guaranteed. After beating up Amon, there will also be some mini-games, and prizes will be awarded for participation, such as Time Worms."
Klein was immediately a little tempted. The last time he and Jack attended Mr. Door's tutoring session, he learned some methods of using Time Worms, such as making some kind of advanced talisman. Now that he heard that not only was safety guaranteed, but he might also get Time Worms, he was naturally tempted.
"I will attend on time," Klein said quickly.
Azek next to him then asked in confusion, "What club?"
"It's an organization I created, called the Joker Club." Roland looked at Azek, briefly introduced the situation of the Joker Club, and finally invited, "Azek, would you like to join?"
"It's my honor," Azek said immediately. He wouldn't casually join a strange organization, but Lucifer's organization certainly wasn't a strange organization.
Roland smiled, took out a badge from his pocket and handed it to Azek, and briefly introduced the situation of the badge before saying, "It's getting late, I'll leave first. See you tomorrow, you two."
…
Speaking of leaving, Roland actually just found a place where no one was around and switched his identity. He then found a hotel outside to catch up on sleep, and only returned to the villa after sleeping for a few hours to prepare for dinner.
The villa was lively again at this time. Medici, who had been taught by Roland for two days, was tinkering in the kitchen. Judging by the slightly pungent smell, dinner should be Chinese food, and it should be quite spicy.
Azek was sitting in front of the coffee table flipping through a magazine, or rather, a Backlund travel guide. He was writing something in a notebook next to him as he flipped through it, apparently planning tomorrow's itinerary, preparing to make sure his child had a great time.
Klein was staring at the camera in his hand in a daze, probably thinking about something, his expression a little embarrassed.
"What are you thinking about, Sherlock!" Roland reached out and waved in front of Klein, then made himself a cup of cocoa before looking at Klein in confusion.
At this point in time, Klein shouldn't have anything to worry about, right?
Wait, could it be… Roland finally dug out a detail from the corner of his memory. He looked at Klein and said with a smile, "You're not worried about how to take photos of other people's affairs, are you?"
Klein's expression stiffened, and he coughed a little embarrassedly before saying with a straight face, "I'm just thinking about how to cover up the flash. You know, the cameras of this era are still very backward, and the flash is particularly conspicuous."
Just two days ago, Klein accepted a commission. The content of the commission was to help a woman named Mary Gail find evidence of her husband's affair, and it had to be intimate photos.
This was a bit difficult for Klein. For him, sneaking into the room where the other party was having an affair was naturally not a problem, but once he took a photo, he was likely to be discovered, and being discovered in this situation… that would be too embarrassing.
Klein just felt like he might socially die if he thought about it.
"I know the answer to this question. As long as you find a Wraith to help attach to the lens, you don't have to worry about the flash." Roland was amused by Klein's embarrassed look, and then said with a smile.
"This kind of thing is impossible no matter how you think about it. How could you ask for help because of this kind of thing…" Klein immediately retorted.
"Then I can't help it…" Roland spread his hands, and then asked with great interest, "But it sounds like you know a Wraith?"
Klein hesitated for a moment, did not deny it, nodded, and said, "I met a lady of the Wraith pathway when I attended an Extraordinary gathering."
