"Yeah, he was here."

"He's usually quite generous. What did he give you this year?"

"Nothing. I'm not accepting any gifts this year. We're all just getting together for some food."

Because Zeng Rou wasn't included in the Wechat group, she didn't see Huo Mian's message about not accepting gifts.

"Take the cab here."
