Chapter 805 Transformation Action (for subscription)

As we all know, "The Adventures of Lolo" is a 3D animation.

The most critical and time-consuming production process of 3D animation is character modeling and bone binding.

Among them, the two human protagonists, Luoluo and Jingjing, are better. After all, 3D human modeling has traces to follow and a basis for reference.

   But robots are in trouble...

To be honest, Wanbao Animation has also produced many 3D robot animations. For example, works such as "Guobao Special Attack" and "Super Beast Armor" contain 3D models of robots and mechs.

These robots are handsome, but the problem is that they are completely different from the robots in "The Adventures of Lolo".

   Deformation!

The robots in "The Adventures of Lolo", especially the motorcycle warriors, the most important and core setting is "switching form", which can change from an ordinary vehicle to a "humanoid" robot that can fight.

But this is an area that Wanbao Animation has never touched before, and the animators feel quite numb.

One character, design two sets of 3D models?

It seems that this is the only way to do it.

It is easy to design two sets of 3D models, but how should the "switching" between the two sets of models be presented to the audience?

Gu Miao's initial thought was to use the experience of the original animation to create a separate "close-up screen" when transforming the motorcycle fighters such as Human Torch and Vanguard.

This close-up screen can be made with CG!

   You don’t understand, do you?

A simple explanation is that you thought that the Human Torch was deformed, but in fact it was not. It just used the technique of "lens editing" to make the audience mistakenly think that he was deformed.

Assume that the thunderbolt sports car form is A model, and the robot form is B model.

The audience thought that switching from model A to model B was "one shot to the end", and the model switching was completed naturally and smoothly.

But in fact, the switch from model A to model B is not smooth and natural, but a CG animation special effect is added, which is the C shot.

In the A model, which is the Torch in the form of a sports car, after a line is finished, the camera suddenly starts to "play" the CG picture prepared in advance, and then cut out the B model robot form after the CG is played.

   This is very convenient.

After all, no matter how many times the transformation process of each motorcycle/beast warrior is repeated, it is actually the same.

One CG can be used until the end of the animation, and even the second and third seasons can continue to be used, which is really not too troublesome.

This is exactly the same as the evolution animation of "Digimon", the debut animation of "Ultraman", and the transformation animation of "Magical Girl". Not only can the same material be used repeatedly, even the sequel does not need to be modified.

But this proposal was rejected by another director, Huang Kun.

He believes that CG can be used.

But the location and timing of each battle is different. Using the same set of deformation materials is a bit too perfunctory.

   "Then what do you say?"

"I think, the deformation process can be dismantled and divided into different parts to make independently..."

Huang Kun said, picked up a pen and drew a sketch on the draft paper: "Let's take the Thunderbolt as an example. The body can be extended first, and the rear part of the car is shaped like scissors."

"Then the upper part of the body is rotated 180°, the left and right doors are lifted at 45°, and the top is lifted out of the robot's head..."

Through Huang Kun’s dismantling, the entire deformation process became intuitive and clear at once.

is roughly divided into three parts.

The first part is the hands and feet, that is, through the change of the body, the hands and feet of the "robot" are stretched out.

The second part is refinement, such as the appearance of fingers and the appearance of the head.

The third part is the light effect. After completing the above two steps, the eyes and the flame pattern on the body will start to glow, giving people an illusion of "coming alive".

   "Will this be too rough?"

Gu Miao was a little hesitant, because he felt that such a deformation movement was a bit too crude and rough.

If pure CG special effects are used, the deformation process will be much more "exquisite and gorgeous", just like the "Transformers" movie, and the audience will even exclaim for the deformation.

   "Shabby? Rough?"

"This is based on the real-time rendering of the background. I think it's great to be able to make it like this." Huang Kun said speechlessly, "Enclosed in the small black room, and then come out of the small black room to fight after the transformation is completed. It must be exquisite and gorgeous!"

   "Makes sense."

  Gu Miao pouted.

Those exquisite and delicate robot transformation processes, which can be called a visual feast, are basically in the close-up mode of "little black room".

The transformation mentioned by Huang Kun does not need to be locked in a small black room, but is rendered according to the real-time background.

for example.

Thunderbolt is currently in Energy City. When he transforms, there will be the background of Energy City behind him, as well as pictures of other characters such as locomotive warriors and Lolo.

  This difficulty is completely different.

Even so, Gu Miao still felt that such a transformation process was not in line with her wishes. What happened to being locked in a small black room? Children only care about whether they are handsome or not, they don't know what a small black house is.

   "I'm thinking about toys!"

"You do such complex and delicate deformation movements, but after the children buy the toy, they find that they can't deform like animation at all. How disappointed are you?"

  Gu Miao: "!!"

I was too busy thinking about the visual effects, but I forgot about the "toy".

   Huang Kun is right!

In the animation "The Adventures of Lolo", the design of peripheral toys is also a very important part.

Toys should also be considered in the deformation actions of motorcycle warriors and beast warriors. It is best to synchronize toys and animations.

In this way, after children buy the toy car of "Thunderbolt", they can immediately transform the toy car in their hands into a robot according to the animation prompts.

If this is not possible, or if the deformation of the animation is exquisite and delicate, but the toy version is crude and crude...

   Related toys are less alluring!

   "You are right."

Gu Miao's attitude took a sharp 180-degree turn, from the original sarcastic negation to understanding and support, and she stopped talking about refined deformation movements.

With his support, Huang Kun's "dismantling" plan was approved, and soon with the joint efforts of modelers and animators, the first version of the "Thunderbolt" deformation effect was made.

Speak from the bottom of my heart...

Although Gu Miao felt that there was still a certain gap between this game and "Transformers", its performance was already very good.

After all, it's just a "toy commercial", so you can't ask too much.

Comparing "Transformers" is a bit of a bully. It's only fair to compare it with animations like "Guobao Special Attack" and "Super Beast Armor".

What? Compared with the original version?

It’s nothing compared to the original animation, which is more than a few years old. Its 3D effects and expressiveness are completely incompatible with the current technical level of Wanbao.
