Mortal Mirror

#5 - Chapter 5: Vicious and calculating

Huang Batian stood in the training field, looking at the few people in front of him with a face full of indifference and arrogance.

Without wasting words, he directly addressed everyone, "I've gathered you here today to spar with me. If you perform well, I, the young master, will reward you. If you truly please me, taking you to the martial arts gym in town isn't impossible."

Upon hearing this, everyone perked up.

Especially Li Ergou, who was extremely excited. Wasn't he trying to escape this place? Wouldn't this be a golden opportunity? Once he left Wanglong Village and the landlord's house, wouldn't the sky be the limit?

If he passed the martial arts exam, Huang the Skinflint would have to obediently hand over his indenture. Thinking of this, he became even more excited, as if he saw hope.

Huang Batian didn't waste any time. After warming up, he instructed the others to attack him.

"Hurry up!"

The others hesitated, but under his roar, Tie Dan was the first to charge forward.

Tie Dan was strong but clumsy. Huang Batian, seeing this, commented, "Too slow."

He dodged and then struck Tie Dan in the stomach from a tricky angle. Tie Dan screamed and flew out, crashing into a wooden stake before stopping.

Being punched over ten meters, no normal person could withstand that. Tie Dan clutched his stomach, howling in pain, blood spurting from his mouth. Perhaps it was too painful, he cried out a few times and then fainted, seemingly dead.

Li Ergou and the others were not only frightened but also terrified.

Li Ergou thought, this isn't sparring, it's simply murder.

Seeing everyone's expressions, Huang Batian nonchalantly spread his hands and said, "He's useless, there's nothing I can do."

He looked at the others with a fierce smile, pointing at the unconscious Tie Dan and saying, "You guys better perform well, don't be like this trash, disappointing me."

As he spoke, he leaped up, jumping incredibly high, reaching out his claws in mid-air like an eagle preying on its target, grabbing towards Si Zai.

Si Zai reacted quickly, knowing he couldn't let Huang Batian catch him. His advantage was his speed, so he completely ignored Huang Batian.

He kept running around the wooden stakes. Huang Batian wasn't angry that he couldn't catch him; instead, a sinister smile appeared on his lips.

Li Ergou and Lao Wangba exchanged glances, thinking that if they didn't attack now, they would be beaten up later anyway, so they might as well strike first and attack him.

The two of them tacitly charged forward, attacking Huang Batian from both sides.

Seeing the two attacking, Huang Batian's eyes lit up, and he said happily, "Perfect timing."

Lao Wangba punched towards Huang Batian's face, and Li Ergou didn't waste any time, directly aiming for his lower body with a 'monkey steals peach' move.

Huang Batian's seemingly clumsy body was incredibly agile. He tilted his head to dodge Lao Wangba's punch, twisted his waist to avoid Li Ergou's fatal blow.

Then, he reached out, grabbed Lao Wangba's fist, and punched him in the face without hesitation. Lao Wangba screamed, spitting out blood as he flew horizontally.

Li Ergou clearly saw several of Lao Wangba's yellow teeth flying in the air.

Before he could think further, Huang Batian kicked out at him with a back leg.

The back kick was fast and fierce. Li Ergou couldn't dodge a martial artist's attack. Huang Batian's leg struck Li Ergou's body, and Li Ergou felt a pain in his chest and flew out.

In mid-air, he saw Huang Batian grab Si Zai's leg and strike down with his palm. With a crack, Si Zai's leg drooped down at an unnatural angle.

How vicious, Li Ergou thought.

In a short while, the four of them were knocked to the ground, their screams echoing. Huang Batian looked at them with disdain and said, "You really are a bunch of useless trash."

He turned to leave, but Li Ergou thought that he couldn't be beaten for nothing. Didn't the young master say he would take them away? This was his only chance to escape this place.

So, unwillingly, he said, "Young master, you haven't given us our reward yet. Didn't you say that if you were happy, you would take us to the martial arts gym in town?"

Huang Batian turned back, seeing that Li Ergou had actually stood up shakily. He raised his eyebrows and grinned.

Then, he beckoned Li Ergou to come forward, somewhat surprised, "You're okay?"

Li Ergou's mouth twitched in pain, forcing himself to endure the pain and saying, "I'm... I'm okay, just a little sore."

Actually, when that kick was about to hit Li Ergou, he instinctively squeezed the muscles on his chest together.

This was his experience from years of being beaten. So, although it looked like he was hit hard, he didn't actually injure his internal organs, just a little pain.

Of course, it wasn't ordinary pain, but a pain that made his whole body tremble, a pain that went deep into his bones.

Seeing that Li Ergou could still stand here and talk to him, Huang Batian became interested. He knew that he hadn't used his full strength just now, but even so, even an ox wouldn't be able to get up.

With a hint of playfulness, he said, "Alright, alright, not bad, not bad, didn't expect my Huang family to have someone so resistant to beatings. If you can take another punch from me, I'll not only give you a reward, but also take you to the martial arts gym in town to learn skills."

Hearing this, Li Ergou was speechless. After all this, he still had to take another punch. Wasn't this trying to kill him?

But this was his only chance. Although it still hurt to the bone, he had to risk it to escape this place. Anyway, he had a worthless life, if he died, so be it, if he didn't, he would live forever.

However, to be on the safe side, he had to provoke this guy a little, "Young master, you're not trying to trick me, are you? If I take another hit, I might not be able to take it and die from the pain. Someone of your status wouldn't deceive me, would you?"

These words were definitely soft knives. If he could withstand another punch, and the young master didn't keep his promise, it would definitely be spread by the others. At that time, public opinion would be a force to be reckoned with, even if you were the young master, you would be criticized.

Huang Batian smirked, as if seeing through Li Ergou's thoughts.

With a sinister smile, he said, "Of course, why would I lie to you? If you go to the martial arts gym in town, you'll not only eat and drink well, but also train your martial skills.

If you can learn real skills, you can also take the martial arts exam. What awaits you is success and leaving this broken mountain ditch forever."

Huang Tianba drew a good big cake. Li Ergou had to cater to this guy in order to leave this place, pretending to be willing to take on the task.

"Okay, I'll take it," he said without hesitation, gritting his teeth.

Huang Tianba looked at Li Ergou. To be honest, at this moment, there was still a hint of appreciation in his eyes, but because this guy was dark, ugly, poor, and a loser, the appreciation was only for a moment.

Then, his face changed, his expression fierce, and he punched Li Ergou without hesitation.

Seeing him suddenly attack without giving anyone time to prepare, Li Ergou cursed him in his heart for being shameless.

But it was too late to say anything at this moment. The only thing Li Ergou could do was to take this punch.

Li Ergou had been beaten since he was a child, almost every day. He had a lot of experience in being beaten, such as where it wouldn't hurt too much, where he wouldn't be seriously injured, and where he wouldn't injure his internal organs and bones.

Especially since he ate the things copied from the mirror, his physique was getting better day by day, and he could take more beatings than before. Don't look at him being thin, he was all muscle inside.

When it came to being beaten, he had never submitted to anyone.

Seeing the fist coming towards his stomach, Li Ergou twisted his body slightly, gathering the muscles on his stomach. He knew that the stomach was the most vulnerable part of the body, and it was no joke to have a ruptured intestine.

Especially with someone like Huang Batian, who could make people vomit blood with one punch, if he wasn't careful, he could directly burst his stomach.

He put almost all the muscles on his stomach together, facing the fist. This method allowed the body to withstand the lightest force from the opponent, because the opponent's power hadn't been fully exerted when he hit you. This was also one of his tricks.

Boom!

"Damn it, it really hurts," Li Ergou muttered softly, already flying out.

Lying on the ground, he took a while to recover before he stood up shakily. After all, no matter how skilled he was, he still needed to bear the force. Li Ergou had minimized the damage, but he still felt extremely painful, piercing to the bone. Under absolute power, everything was in vain.

Fortunately, his internal organs were well protected. He wasn't afraid of external pain, but he was afraid of internal injuries. Once he suffered internal injuries, it would be terrible, and he might die.

Huang Batian, who had just shown a smile, suddenly widened his eyes, feeling like he had seen a ghost. He knew that he had just gone all out. If he punched down, he could kill even an ox. Did he really think he was joking?

He had just wanted to kill this ignorant guy with one punch. Go to a martial arts gym? Was a martial arts gym a place for someone as lowly as him?

But now, looking at Li Ergou stubbornly standing up again, he was somewhat surprised, amazed, and puzzled. How could a mortal body do this?

He couldn't help but think that his old mother had told him last night that this Ergouzi had been beaten by her since he was a child, and he was getting more and more resistant to beatings.

Could it be that being beaten every day could really train him to be thick-skinned and have steel bones?

Seeing this magical scene, he suddenly changed his mind. He remembered that before he left, his master was still grumbling that he didn't have a good sparring partner and couldn't find anyone to feed him punches.

Looking at this guy in front of him, he thought that he had always wanted to make money. This kid was so resistant to beatings, with a little training, wouldn't he be his cash cow?

Thinking of this, he was overjoyed and came up with a plan.

This year's New Year was the best year Li Ergou had had in many years, for no other reason than that since being favored by the young master, he felt that his life was different.

Although the young master was sinister and ruthless, he still valued the word 'integrity'. He said he would take him away, and he really would take him away. After the New Year, he would go to town with him.

The young master also took special care of him, not letting him herd sheep anymore, and letting him eat the same things as those servants. From time to time, he would reward him with leftovers, which was extremely gracious.

However, now he didn't like to eat leftovers. With a treasure like the mirror, it was impossible to starve, and it was also impossible to eat leftovers.

Before leaving, he had to do one thing, which was to copy all the remaining sheep, or wouldn't he be losing out?

So, he strongly requested to herd sheep. Seeing Li Ergou's loyalty, the young master was very happy and praised him again.

Li Ergou felt disgusted in his heart, feeling that the young master's smile was full of sinister colors.

Old Mantou told him that when you're under someone else's roof, you have to bow your head. Sometimes, some patience and compromise will allow you to go further.

Thinking of this, for freedom, he could only pretend to be happy and set off with a flock of sheep.

Arriving at the mountain, he couldn't wait to copy all the remaining fifteen sheep. This time, he didn't kill the sheep, but threw the whole living sheep into the mirror.

Because he found that the sheep couldn't die in the mirror, and they were still alive and kicking when they came out, and the meat was even more delicious.

After dealing with the sheep, he turned his attention to the three fat pigs in the pigsty, which were the big pigs left over from the New Year, each weighing more than four hundred pounds, with a layer of fat half a foot thick, which tasted extremely delicious.
