#131 - Chapter 131 The thing in the cocoon turned out to be him

Li Ergou sliced open a cocoon and saw a lot of green liquid flowing out, followed by a smooth, fleshy body falling out.

To his surprise, it wasn't one of his teammates, but a monster with a pig's head and a dog's body, which looked extremely disgusting to him.

This thing looked like an unborn infant, probably not fully developed. It twitched a couple of times upon emerging and then died.

Seeing such a monster, Li Ergou felt an inexplicable sense of disgust from the bottom of his heart.

To make sure it was completely dead, he stabbed it twice in the chest, making sure it was dead before stopping.

Then, he cut open all the cocoons on the tree, and without exception, they were all filled with this kind of monster, including terrifying creatures with sheep heads and human bodies.

Li Ergou didn't hold back, either hacking with his knife or burning with fire. In no time, he killed all the creatures.

He wondered where Zhou Da and the others had gone. Could they be on another mountain peak? Just as he was about to call Ye Wanwan to leave, he heard Ye Wanwan shout loudly, "Be careful!"

At that moment, he didn't know that a giant spider, nearly ten feet tall, had emerged from behind the cypress tree. Without a word, the spider spewed out a large amount of silk from its navel, instantly wrapping Li Ergou up.

By the time Li Ergou heard Ye Wanwan's warning, it was too late.

The spider silk was incredibly tough, but now he was tightly wrapped and unable to move. The silk should be afraid of fire, but Li Ergou hesitated, wondering if using fire magic would burn him to death as well. Thinking this, he decided against it.

Everything before him was pitch black. He moved his divine sense and extended it outwards. Fortunately, his divine sense was still usable, and he could see everything outside clearly.

The spider was dragging him behind the big tree.

Li Ergou's heart stirred. He wondered if he was going to be turned into one of those monsters. He suddenly had a jolt and thought of a very important question.

Who was transforming those monsters? It couldn't be the spider, could it? In that case, wouldn't there be a mastermind behind it all?

Without thinking further, this spider must have been tamed. To find the mastermind, he had to follow the spider. So, he couldn't get out now.

With this thought, he stopped struggling.

Ye Wanwan was very anxious when she saw this. She immediately ran out from her hiding place. In a moment, she reached Li Ergou and drew her short knife, ready to cut open the spider silk.

Li Ergou quickly said softly, "Don't! Maybe you can cut a small opening so I can move a little."

Hearing Li Ergou's words, Ye Wanwan's heart settled. She seemed to have thought of something and excitedly said, "Why? You don't want to enter the spider's nest, do you?"

Li Ergou chuckled and said, "You're not stupid."

Ye Wanwan said, "I don't think it's a good idea. It's too dangerous. If they use special methods, you won't fare well. Don't be blindly confident, okay?"

Li Ergou was someone who listened to advice. He thought it made sense. If he couldn't break free and was controlled by powerful means, wouldn't he die miserably?

He thought for a moment and suddenly had a good idea. "Okay, let me out, but don't make too big of an opening."

Ye Wanwan immediately summoned a golden light, which transformed into a crescent-shaped blade, incredibly sharp. With a swoosh, it cut a hole in the spider web.

Li Ergou crawled out and immediately took a slaughtered fat pig from the copper mirror and threw it in. The spider suddenly felt the spider silk cocoon behind it was heavier. It turned its head to look, didn't notice anything different, and continued walking forward.

Li Ergou and Ye Wanwan exchanged a smile and closely followed behind. Circling behind the tree, they saw a huge cave under the tree roots. The spider crawled into the cave and disappeared.

It was almost dawn, the darkest moment of the day. Looking at the pitch-black cave entrance, Ye Wanwan gently tugged on the corner of Li Ergou's clothes, her voice trembling slightly, "It's so scary."

Li Ergou was staring intently at the spider. Hearing Ye Wanwan's words, he casually said, "Yeah, just stay behind me. It would be best if you could let your bug go in and take a look."

Ye Wanwan nodded and said, "Okay, I can."

The firefly immediately flew in, twinkling in the darkness.

Unfortunately, the cave was too dark, and the firefly's vision was blurry. It could only see outlines. It saw the spider walk for a while, and then a huge cave appeared in front. Inside the cave, a large fire was burning, and in front of the fire, a person was sitting with their back to them, seemingly busy with something.

Ye Wanwan explained the situation. Li Ergou considered it and couldn't help but think that he really hadn't guessed wrong. There really was a mastermind. This person was inhumane and had to be caught and subjected to extreme punishment so they would know what retribution is in this world.

He said to Ye Wanwan, "Stay close to me. As soon as we get in, I'll make a move to catch him."

Ye Wanwan said, "Don't worry, I'll cooperate with you and hold off that big spider."

Li Ergou said, "Can you do it?"

Ye Wanwan said, "Don't underestimate me. The last time those people caught me, they used knockout drops on me. I was ambushed. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been so weak."

Li Ergou curled his lip, thinking that she was obviously a weakling, just very stubborn.

He didn't say anything, just said, "Okay, just do your best."

Anyway, he didn't have any expectations for this girl.

They tiptoed to the edge of the cave. Li Ergou saw a person with their back to them, seemingly eating something. On the ground not far in front of them, several people were lying side by side. It was Zhou Da, Silly Ge, Lu Yun, Zhang Long, and two other experienced constables.

He sighed, wondering how they were doing. He hoped they hadn't been killed. According to his thinking, this person was an evil cultivator. He captured so many people to study those monsters. In that case, he probably wouldn't kill people right away, since corpses couldn't be used to make monsters, could they?

Thinking of this, he felt a little more at ease.

Just then, the person's voice rang out, "Little Spider, you're back. Let me see what surprise you've brought me this time."

Ye Wanwan suddenly frowned and said softly, "Something's not right. This voice sounds so familiar."

The man stood up, turned around, and walked towards the spider's silk cocoon.

Seeing that familiar face, Ye Wanwan was stunned in place and exclaimed, "Impossible, how could it be him!"
