Monster Pet Evolution

247 The Final Match (2)

On one corner of the field stood Yu Ge, who had come in first place in the Huaxia preliminaries, in a red uniform. He even had his own fan club cheering for him from the stands.

Brandy was also probably just as popular back home as Yu Ge was here. However, now that he was in the Huaxia region, he received less support from the audience than his opponent.

Even though the Black-scaled Tiger was two levels higher, its grade was one level lower than the Wailing Tree Serpent. Judging by the two familiar's grades, one might have said that the Wailing Tree Serpent was a bit stronger than the tiger.

The outcome of this match would depend on both familiars' experience, attributes, and unique physiologies.

Gao Peng began weighing the odds of victory.

Neither familiar seemed to be weak against the other's attributes. Also, the Black-scaled Tiger's innate ability probably wouldn't be able to have any huge effect on the Wailing Serpent Tree.

However, the Wailing Serpent Tree had a much wider range of attack than its opponent.

Sometimes, all it would take was one fine detail to send the scales of victory tipping to one side.

Still, it had to be noted that the Wailing Serpent Tree was a Plant-type familiar. Like most Plant-type familiars, its mobility was highly restricted.

It would seem that both familiars had a fair chance of winning this match.

The Black-scaled Tiger suddenly roared and flexed its inky black scales menacingly, then unsheathed its claws, which gleamed with a mysterious light.

The Black-scaled Tiger's eyes were now fixated on its opponent. In an instant, the Wailing Serpent Tree's world went dark.

A moment before, it had been bright and sunny. A moment later, night had fallen around it.

The Wailing Serpent Tree could only see as far as ten feet in front of it now.

Even in the darkness, it could sense the tiger's ravenous eyes watching its every move. In truth, this didn't have much effect on the Wailing Serpent Tree, as it could still feel the warm sun shining down on it, and that was all it needed.

Judging by the fact that its every cell was still photosynthesizing under the sun, it knew that the darkness around it was just an illusion.

More importantly, it was capable of feeling its way through the darkness by picking up on the infrared radiation around it.

The Wailing Serpent Tree's snake-like branches slapped the Black-scaled Tiger away mid-pounce.

A metallic clang sounded in the air when its branches struck the tiger's scales. The Black-scaled Tiger staggered for a bit, then lunged again and sank its teeth into the tree's branch. When it pulled a piece of bark off of the tree, a red liquid squirted out from its wound, like blood.

The Black-scaled Tiger continued its frenzied attack. In just a few seconds, it managed to bite ten more branches off of the tree. A red liquid flowed from the Wailing Serpent Tree's gaping wounds until it had formed a blood-red puddle beneath it. Some of it had also landed on the Black-scaled Tiger's scales. A pungent smell permeated the air.

However, there were just too many branches. Even when the Black-scaled Tiger tore ten branches off the tree, a hundred more took their place and retaliated. A translucent liquid leaked out from some of its branches and fell onto the tiger's body. The Black-scaled Tiger simply ignored it and continued its relentless struggle against the tree's branches.

Seeing that its attack was doing nothing to the tree's defenses, the Black-scaled Tiger decided to look for an opening elsewhere. It slashed through the branches around it with one claw and took a step back.

When it had only taken two steps back, a green smoke suddenly issued from the Black-scaled Tiger's body, causing it to stagger to one side.

Gao Peng narrowed his eyes at it. He could see that the scales around its chest had been corroded away, revealing a bloody patch of flesh.

"Black-scaled Tiger, get away from it, quick," said Yu Ge urgently.

The Black-scaled Tiger let out a deep moan and staggered again when it tried to take a few more steps back from the tree.

Looks like it's over, thought Gao Peng, sighing.

The Black-scaled Tiger was now at a disadvantage. It wasn't a match for the Wailing Tree Serpent and its Accelerated Regeneration ability during a prolonged battle.

The Black-scaled Tiger didn't dare approach the Wailing Serpent Tree directly again. It began prowling around the tree, waiting for an opportunity to pounce on it.

Suddenly, a hole that looked like an eye opened up on the tree's bark.

In the next instant, a jet of transparent liquid flew out from the hole and barely grazed the tiger's nose.

The fight dragged on for at least an hour, until the Black-scaled Tiger finally collapsed to the ground.

The Wailing Serpent Tree had simply waited patiently for its acidic sap to wear the tiger down. The only thing that could have beat it in a contest of patience was a rock.

This Wailing Serpent Tree is... something, thought Gao Peng.

Its patience was truly impressive. It was like a hunter, calmly waiting for its prey to walk into its trap.

Everyone who had been cheering for Yu Ge in the stands seemed disappointed by his loss.

On the other hand, Brandy was now smiling from ear to ear. I won! I defeated Huaxia's strongest!

Then he glanced at Gao Peng...
