Panda Novel

Li Yi had the urge to bury himself in a hole.

“Aha, Jiaojiao, Lil Yi’s hand is here.”

Yang Rong promptly pulled Jiaojiao over and explained to Xie Qin with a smile, “We are playing a finger-guessing game. Whoever loses gets their finger bitten. Lil Yi, that little rascal lost but won’t let us bite. He even hid his hands.”

“Bite? You bit me?”

Jiaojiao’s eyes were glossy as she wagged her lean fingers at Yang Rong.

“You said so yourself, I’m going in for a bite!”

Yang Rong opened her mouth to nibble at Jiaojiao’s finger, inviting giggles from Jiaojiao.

Li Yi who was bent over on the table was speechless…

Yang Rong’s excuse sounded forced. Xie Qing was not a child, how… how would she accept this excuse?

Xie Qin’s face softened, “Kids, you shouldn’t drink so much. People will talk if they see how drunk you guys are now.”

“Aunty, it’s alright. We drank today because I just moved downstairs. They wanted to celebrate,” Fire Ice came to smooth things over. It was then when Xie Qin showed sympathy.

“No wonder. Lil Jiao never drank at home. This girl.”

Jiaojiao was chuckling as she twirled her finger inside Yang Rong’s mouth before playfully taking it out. She said to Fire Ice, “Ice, you hadn’t bitten mine yet.”

Fire Ice went ahead and suckled on Jiaojiao’s finger in accordance with Yang Rong’s story.

Jiaojiao smiled menacingly, “Now we’re playing!”

“Barf!”

Xie Qin shook her head and sighed, “You guys go ahead. Make sure Lil Jiao cuts down on the drinking.”

“Okay, Aunty!”

“Aunty, you’re leaving? Let me walk you to the door.”

Fire Ice’s smooth-talking even left a smile on Xie Qin’s face prior to her leaving.

“Perverted Wing, get up! Don’t play dead. Your mother just left.”

“Yeah, right, it’s your mum that’s gone.”

Li Yi lifted his head and made a gesture to smack Yang Rong. She, in turn, chuckled and moved out of reach.

Li Yi was being naughty when he smirked at Yang Rong, “What does a finger taste like?”

“Maniac!” Yang Rong blushed and spat in contempt.

Perhaps to mask her anxiousness, Yang Rong grabbed a bottle of wine and gulped it down.

“Wow, Sister Rong, you can hold your drink but I’m not afraid of you, I can, too!”

Jiaojiao clapped her hands in approval before grabbing another bottle.

“Alright now, that’s enough drinking!”

Li Yi stood up and snatched the two bottles.

They could be drunk but being wasted was not fun.

Yang Rong’s eyes were red as she extended her arms out, “Give it back. Give it to me. I wanna drink but you’re not letting me. I… I’m gonna cry.”

“Cry then. Even if you break your vocal cords, I’m not giving you more to drink.”

“Sister Rong, you’ve drank enough. No more,” Fire Ice came over to persuade her.

“Let me drink, I… Wah—”

Yang Rong kept true to her word, crying on cue. It was clear skies at one moment but in the next, it was pouring heavily.

“Lil Yi, what are you guys doing?” Xie Qin heard the noise from upstairs so she stood by the window and asked.

“Ah, nothing, Aunty. We’re just playing a game.”

Li Yi immediately stuffed a bottle into Yang Rong’s hands. She subsided with a smile.

Oh, brother. She was the eldest here yet the most childish…

Yang Rong raised her head and consumed the whole bottle of red wine in one go. She could not sit still after that drink. If it were not for Fire Ice supporting her, she would have collapsed onto the ground long ago.

“My husband and I were classmates, we were together for five years before we tied the knot. On the third day of our marriage, he went abroad for business and only returned when our daughter, Momo was born. Hehe, he happily cuddled Momo as they went out to buy her toys but a drunkard truck driver rammed him over, bang!

“Bang!

“It crushed my heart. It hurts so much,” Yang Rong covered her face and cried so much so that Li Yi and the rest because uneasy.

Li Yi patted her shoulder in an attempt to console, “Rong Rong, don’t dwell on it. It’s in the past. We must learn to be happy. Don’t live in pain…”

Yang Rong suddenly lifted her head and looked at Li Yi, “I really loved my husband, do you believe me?”

“I do, I do.”

“Bang! And then he’s gone,” Yang Rong gestured with her hands. She pursed her lips, seemingly about to cry again.

“Wah—”

It was not Yang Rong who cried, it was Jiaojiao…

“Oh brother, what’s wrong with you?”

“I suddenly thought of my worthless father who ditched my mother and me for a b*tch. I grew up without my father’s love…” Jiaojiao was wailing in tears.

“It’s alright. Don’t cry. I’ll be your father. Why the tears? Good girl, let’s not cry now. Daddy will give you a lollipop,” Li Yi brushed her hair and comforted her.

“Scram, you’re just taking advantage of me,” Jiaojiao waved a fist at him.

Yang Rong seemed to have calmed down after the hoo-ha between them both. She stopped fussing and just sat in her chair, staring into blank space.

Li Yi secretly promised himself never to drink with them.

Fortunately, Fire Ice seemed to be looking normal.

“Guild Master, I… I…”

Li Yi had just complimented Fire Ice in his heart when her eyes welled up in red. She lowered her head and stuttered. She could not complete her sentence.

“Ice, what’re you trying to say? Speak up.”

“I I… I… I…” Fire Ice’s voice was going softer and softer.

Li Yi pressed his hand onto his forehead. He really felt defeated by these three ladies.

Jiaojiao pulled Yang Rong and mumbled, “Sister Rong, let’s retreat to my room to sleep. Let’s head back to my place. It’s too dangerous here.”

“What’s dangerous here?” Yang Rong did not understand.

Jiaojiao pointed at Li Yi, “Terrorist.”

Yang Rong narrowed her eyes to size up Li Yi, “That’s right. He’s a terrorist. Look at that sneaky smile, he looks like a b*tch.”

“F*ck, I’m no Saddam!” Li Yi felt wronged. He grabbed a bottle and finished it in one gulp.

“You really measure up to me in this way!” Jiaojiao gave Li Yi a thumbs up.

“Let’s go, Sister Rong. Let’s sleep in my room, not here. This terrorist’s vicious, I can’t feel my fingers from all the wanking and biting…”

Jiaojiao held Yang Rong as they unsteadily made their way into Li Yi’s room.

“Hey, you’re going the wrong way. That’s my room.”

“No, this is my place. This is my room, hehehe…”

Jiaojiao half-carried Yang Rong into the bedroom. Li Yi had his hand on his forehead as he could feel a migraine coming.

“Guild Master, I… I… I… I I I…” Fire Ice was still continuing her sentence there. Li Yi felt his head pounding even heavier.

These three women were quite a handful after a night of drinking. It was a lot to take in…

“Ice, just speak your mind. How would I know if you don’t say it? You need to speak up. I would never know what’s on your mind if you don’t talk about it. So, if you don’t want me, just be straightforward. I’ll understand. Truthfully, I swear to god.”

“I…” Fire Ice spoke in a low voice before covering her face with both hands.

“I can’t hear you,” Li Yi had the urge to ram his head onto the wall.

“I…”

Perhaps she was too embarrassed about it, Fire Ice turned to run into the bedroom.

“Hey, that’s my room…”

Great, now he has three women in his bedroom…

Li Yi poured himself another glass of wine when he was struck with a thought.

Should he enter?

This was a legit concern!

Li Yi was preoccupied with this thought as he sipped on his drink. In the end, he made up his mind.

He decided to enter!

“It’s my bedroom, of course, I can enter. Whether or not you guys are in there, well that’s none of my concern.”

Armed with an excuse, Li Yi advanced towards the bedroom rather hesitantly.

Ding dong! Ding dong!

The godd*amn doorbell was at it again.

Li Yi gritted his teeth and pretended not to hear the doorbell. He continued his journey and it was then, Xie Qin’s voice was heard coming from the door.

“Lil Yi, I made some rice. I’ve come to give you all some.”

Great, how could he ignore the door now?

Li Yi smacked his head dejectedly before struggling to open the door to Xie Qin.

Xie Qin had cooked a whole pot of rice and carried it over…

“Rice is good after alcohol. It’s good for the body.”

Xie Qin carried the pot of rice into the house. She glanced around but found no one in the living room.

“Where’s Lil Jiao and the rest?”

Li Yi lied, “They… They went downstairs to sleep at Ice’s place.”

Xie Qin was displeased, “This girl, how can she just barge into someone else’s home without telling me?”

“She drank too much. She was having a hard time walking too.”

Xie Qin placed the pot of rice down. She wanted to return home but after a slight hesitation, she called Li Yi over to sit on the couch.

“What’s up, Aunty Qin?”

“Lil Yi, I wanted to ask you, do you like Lil Jiao?”

“Of course I do,” Li Yi did not hesitate in answering.

“Lil Jiao really likes you, I know. Do your parents know about the two of you?”

“They do. I’ve told them long ago,” Li Yi was speaking casually but he was pacing back and forth restlessly. Three women were in his bedroom and if they were to create a ruckus…

Li Yi dared not imagine the consequences.

“Alright then, I won’t bother you then. I’ll be heading off,”

Xie Qin was all smiles when she got up to excuse herself.

Li Yi walked Xie Qin out and deadbolted the door before letting out a long sigh of relief.

“I’m entering my bedroom. I’m tired!”

Li Yi yawned before he tottered towards his bedroom…
