“Mr Min, welcome back,” greeted the pet shop owner before he turned to look at Huo Yao.

Since Huo Yao was dressed in a school uniform, the shop owner did not attempt to make small talk about her being his girlfriend.

Min Yu acknowledged him calmly. He brought Huo Yao to a cage nearby. “Which one of these two dogs do you like?”

Huo Yao leaned over to look at the two puppies lying in the box. They looked chubby and were unafraid when she approached them.

“Huskies tend to be a little more lively, but they have a mild temperament,” said the shop owner.

Huo Yao reached her index finger out and stuck it through a gap in the cage to touch their heads. After taking a closer look, she noticed that one of the puppies had contrastingly colored eyes.

“That’s a thoroughbred husky with contrasting eyes. It inherited those eyes from its parents.” The shop owner paused before he introduced the other puppy which was lying prone lazily. “This one is a thoroughbred with brown eyes. Even though it looks quiet for now, it is even more mischievous than the other one.”

Huo Yao glanced at the puppies and did not know which one to get. She turned to look at Min Yu and asked. “Which one should I get?”

“The one with contrasting eyes. That sort of husky is rarer,” said Min Yu after contemplating briefly.

Huo Yao nodded. She pulled her hands back, stood up straight, and told the shop owner without hesitation, “In that case, I will take the one with contrasting eyes.”

The shopkeeper quickly answered. “Okay. Let me put it in a box for you.”

“Uh huh.”

The shop owner came back with a box before long and took the puppy out.

Huo Yao recalled Min Yu saying that it was rarer, so she glanced at both the huskies and contemplated for a couple of seconds before she asked. “Are both the huskies going at the same price?”

“Nope. The one with contrasting eyes is for $3000 more.”

The shop owner picked up the husky to place it inside the box as he spoke.

Huo Yao instantly frowned and stopped the shop owner.

“I suddenly find its eyes to be weird. I think I prefer the cheaper one,” said Huo Yao.

The moment she finished her sentence, Min Yu quietly glanced at her.

It probably had nothing to do with its contrasting eyes. Instead, she simply wanted to save some money.

The shop owner tried to convince her. “The one with contrasting eyes is very rare. Also…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Huo Yao interrupted him decisively. “A common man deserves a common dog. I am taking the husky with brown eyes.”

The car pulled up in front of the Huo residence 30 minutes later. Huo Yao thanked Min Yu and quickly got off the car with two boxes.

Huo Tingrui was already home. He saw his little sister come in with two boxes and his eyes instantly lit up as he walked over. “Is this my birthday present?”

A week ago, he had alluded to the fact that it was his birthday today. It seemed that his hinting had finally paid off.
